Just a heads up. I ordered an OWC USB-C dock at the same time as a new 15" Macbook Pro, and they are not compatible. Confirmed with OWC, and it's being returned. Bummer too, seems like a nice unit and I wasn't sure I wanted to spend extra for the Thunderbolt 3 dock.

Any ideas when does the Belkin Thunderbolt 3 dock come out ? That seems like the best option for the 15 inch ( also the most expensive lol )

It obviously won't charge the 15", but how else is it not compatible?

wow....I was thinking of getting one as just a basic hub. Guess not! Thanks for saving me the headache!

No problem. I figured there would be a bunch of people that would find that information useful. Unfortunately it might mean that I pony up for a Thunderbolt 3 dock, which is overkill for me, but will work.

I'm disappointed because most USB C adopters' USB C ports are either only for charging or only for data. Is there anything that supports both, just like the USB C port of the MacBook?

I am looking for a hub that has, along with a USB-A female, a USB-C female port which supports USB power delivery and also data transfer.
Most hub products that have a USB-C port support only one of them, not both.
[doublepost=1479805989][/doublepost]If a hub can charge your MacBook, whether you call it a hub or a charger doesn't make any difference.

Thank you. That's a good one except it is expensive.
By the way looks like it has two USB-C ports and one is only for data and the other is only for charging.
It has two so I think it's nice, but why does not even an expensive one like this have a USB-C port that works for both?

I picked up the Kensington 4600 dock for my 15. It provides power, multiple USB ports, Ethernet (not currently working) and most important DP which drives my 4K/60hz monitor.

Now that some of you have the new MBP, has anyone tried the Aukey's USB-C to USB-A adapters?
https://www.amazon.com/AUKEY-Female-Adapter-Macbook-Chromebook/dp/B00W98IJ0O#

Do they work fine? I'm planing to get those ones since I don't want a cable like the Apple one, I prefer something small so I can leave my flashdrive plugged in allways.

Yep... they work fine. I bought six of them and they work perfectly with everything I have tested. And they will fit side by side in the USB-C ports.

Does it charge your 15? From what I can see it's only 60 watts.

Edit: I see what you mean...

You want a USB-C hub with Power Delivery. But charging shouldn't take up its only USB-C port.

Something like this?
https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/TCDOCK11PSG/

That shows not compatible with the new MBPs.

Great! Thanks ;).

And what about an external HDD like a WD Passport or something like that without selfpowered conection?

I have a WD My Passport, a Seagate Slim, and a Inatech UASP enclosure with a SSD inside I use and tested. All three are 2.5" inch form factor and self powered and I have no problems at all with any of them. I have tested all my USB keys and a SD card adaptor also, and they work fine. So far, everything I have tested works exactly like it always did over the USB-A connection on my 2014 rMBP.

Perfect! I'll get a couple of them. For now I can live just with usb A ports. For HDMI, ethernet and SD ports I'll wait till there's some reliable Hub or Doc, because at the moment none of them are fully prepared for the 15" new MBP.

Hi, so here is the problem I am facing, I have the Macbook Pro 13 inch without touchbar, one that has 2 USB type C port. In my office I have a Dell U2715h which is a QHD Monitor which has HDMI (MHL) and Display Port input. Now I have a display port to USB C adapter, that when i connect to my laptop, I get the desired QHD resolution on the monitor. So this connects to one of my ports. Then the Monitor also comes with 5 USB 3.0 type A in stream ports and one out stream port that you connect with your laptop to get access to those ports. Now I have an Aukey USB-C to HDMI and USB Type A hub that has 4 USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI. If i connect this to the other port I cannot charge
Connecting the Monitor via the HDMI gives me max resolution of 2048x1152 for some reason and not 2560x1440(QHD) even though The monitor is suppose to accept QHD over HDMI and aukey advertised resolution upto 4K at 30 hz for the hub.
So at the moment I have to use the DP to USB C adapter, but this way both my ports are occupied and I cannot charge my laptop and hence cannot use it in clamshell mode.
Does anyone know of a cheap and reliable USB-C hub with power pass through. All I need is power passthrough and USB type A port.
Even USB C to multiple USB C will do the trick (if such a hub exist). The reason i bought the aukey hub over something like Hootoo Is I did not want to use that to power my laptop as Its not a trusted enough brand for me to risk it powering my laptop.
So does anyone know of a reliable USB-C hub with power pass through on the cheaper side ?

Well gott uncheck the cheap part with that xD
[doublepost=1479911647][/doublepost]
and I think the only suitable one is the Multi adapter which is an over kill for me, Dont really need the HDMI

Well, part of your post, if I understand it correctly, is also complaining that the HDMI port on your off-brand hub isn't working properly. These are exactly the kind of problems that all of these hubs have. The Apple adapter will likely work correctly, allow you to connect your charger, monitor, and monitors' usb-A hub all with a single connection.

People have used this hub with their 4K tv at least at 30hz (reviews on amazon) so it most probably does support the resolution. It might just be the HDMI cable I am using (will try another one tomorrow). I dont get the QHD display natively, i tried Switch X it did display the resolution and it seemed to work but the display wasnt as sharp as when i am connected via the Display port to USB C adapter.
