God dammit, Apple is spying on me. Just as I am looking at various Windows Laptops Apple puts up a 12-month interest-free credit deal. I never use credit, if I don't have it I can't spend it. But when you have it and they put a deal like that with no interest...

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!

Ah NVM, you have to pay full price for interest-free, if you put in the EDU discount my daughter gets it removes the offer.

Yeah, you knew that had to be true. They had to put some incentives in to get you to pay full price :)

They probably also count on more than a few folks screwing up and missing a payment or two. Then the interest likely becomes something like 24.9%.

Yea most of these companies rely on it, i never have these things where you pay monthly, I prefer to buy outright. Personally I’m hoping Apple update the iMac this year with a new design and then I can buy one upgrading from my late 2012.

I hear you on the iMac. I see no good reason to update my 2015 iMac because other than the Pro, the current model offers nothing of significance.

Like you, I prefer to just pay for things outright. Pay it and be done with it, but hoping people miss payments is definitely a part of the long game with those offers. I imagine most folks set up an autopay so that they don't, but I would bet a fair amount don't.

It reminds me a bit of those car dealerships I used to see around the Navy bases that would offer credit to anyone with weekly payment terms. If you missed a payment or two they would come and repossess the car. Better to just skip those deals if you can :)

Wow! Is that kind of interest rate even legal? Whatever happened to the efforts to try to eliminate predatory
lending practices.

Well, if you miss payments they see it as a defaulter rate.

There is a big thing in the UK right now around payday lenders, you can borrow a few hundred from them and if you don't pay it back the rate is 4000%.

Yeah, its the Payday lenders that were the primary targets of the predatory lending practices legislation here too. That and those pay by the week car dealers. Those are gone and I believe they have reigned in the PayDay Loan places, but not sure since I haven't visited either.

How timely. I see MR has just updated its news to inform us that the iMac was last updated 602 days ago, longest span ever between updates. Thanks for caring Apple :)

And Amazon just gave me 18/mo equal pay interest free on their card. That’s why there’s a 15” on it’s way to me.

I’m a sucker too what can I say.

You would think Apple could pull out something special for the 35th Anniversary, all we got was a tweet from Tim Cook, well, let's be honest, a tweet by whoever runs his account for him.

Whathisname in PR, do we pay him? Yeah? Have him send something out :)
:pI am surprised Cook even remembered to tell his Tweet bot to post something. Maybe the Mac engineering team snuck the reminder onto his iPad.

I'l finally get to try my Surface Laptop 2 on Thursday morning. I want to have the folks at the MS Store do a proper set up and test run etc. to ensure it's okay, which I know it will be. I am thoroughly positive I purposely left all of my mystic Bork with the wonky 10.5 iPad Pro at Best Buy yesterday.:D

Apple and Special are not two words I'd be stringing together in a sentence these days, well maybe with a double helping of sarcasm :p

I have to say that watching Jenna’s video on the MacBook Air i’m pretty impressed with what it can handle. At around 7:30 she’s using Final Cut Pro X then she opens Photoshop with Final Cut Pro X still running in the background, it all looks smooth. The Air seems to get a bit of hate on this forum but I think it’s a well rounded machine but the looks of it, not going to lie I’m tempted :)

If you do a lot of that, wouldn’t an MBP or another iMac be better?

Plus, you’re dealing with a dimmer screen and that butterfly keyboard.

Once I replace my iMac, it’ll be dGPU-time. Right now, I’ll roll with integrated.

If you do a lot of it yes, but if you just want to edit a photo in Pixelmator Pro it’s great to know that the Air can do it.

I’ve got an iPad Pro which I also use for photo editing, Pixelmator Pro and Procreate are great apps, the fact that Pixelmator Pro also works on the Mac is also great because I can edit on the iPad Pro while on the go and then use my iMac when I’m at my desk to pick up where I left off.

I know some people are not a fan of the iPad Pro but I think it’s going to get better and better over time. IOS 13 needs more iPad Pro software features and i think it’s going to get it, followed by full Photoshop and I think there will be a real winner right there.

Pixelmator Pro - okay. That makes sense as that is optimized for Macs. Still, test the screen and that keyboard if you consider it more thoroughly.

The iPad Pros are so poorly designed and keep getting thinner, so new problems arise. I absolutely adore drawing on it, but the cons outweigh the -um- pros for me. Too many glitches, design based issues (especially thinness and how heat can destroy the internals, which keeps happening in mine).

If iPPs work for you, awesome. I am grateful I learned to draw on one, as that gives me confidence to try drawing traditionally and on a Wacom.

Whatever you get, enjoy it.

How is your Surface laptop going? Already glanced at it? :)

Yea I will do before deciding which way to go, no rush at the moment.

Can’t say as I have any problems with the iPad Pro heating, the only issue I had was with my 2017 iPad Pro which screen died, after a few issues with customer service I emailed Phil Schiller, I received a phone call from Apple Executive relations, sent the iPad off and within 24 hours I received a brand new 2017 iPad Pro.

I like the look of the all screen new iPad Pro and Face ID is brilliant on my iPhone X, I would love it on the iPad.

This is a great video to watch in regards to the iPad Pro if you have the time, it’s just over 30 minutes long.

Waiting until Thursday morning when I have appointment with the folks at the Microsoft Store to get the Conplete warranty. I figure, I’ll have them walk me through it and make sure the machine is set up and running properly. The call rep on Sunday gave me the wrong info (I had to bring the laptop in), so I am longingly looking at the box.

Will also have introductory Windows training after work that night.:)

Of course my brain is already thinking - learn enough to attach a Wacom tablet already! :p

Oh.. I thought I read tuesday in one of you earlier posts. Getting senile :p.
Attaching a Wacom tablet is a matter of plugging it in :). Maybe you have to download/install a driver from the Wacom site, but that's about it ;). Do you already have one? Maybe the MS rep in the store can assist..

I am considering it to accompany my Mac Mini. I mean I just can't find a Windows machine I like enough to drop macOS, 'Hi, my name is Lee, I am addicted to macOS, nice to meet you all, hope you can help me'.

But it is a tough one. the new MBA does not have the brightest screen, true tone or the best processor. But will it last me several years and still feel like it's performing well? Not sure. I use it for web development so it does not need to be a powerhouse, at the same point I want it to have longevity.

The base model in the UK with my daughter's Education discount is 1,078, that is cheap compared to 1,574 for the 13 inch with touch bar. But, if I wanted the 256GB SSD which seems sensible then at 1,260 it seems daft to not pay an extra 300 for the MBP.

I'm torturing myself :)
