The sweet spot for 5G is midband and that's where T-Mobile is going to eat the other carriers' lunch. TMo has invested heavily in midband whereas Verizon rolled out this flashy mmWave spectrum at the Apple launch event that makes for good speed test screenshots but is not realistic for everyday use. It doesn't travel far enough. Midband is the balance between speed and actually having a signal that can traverse some distance and travel through walls/trees/etc.

Bottom line, do not waste your money or energy on a new SIM card. It's not necessary for all practical purposes, especially if you just use the eSIM. The support article makes it sound like you'll get a text if you need to upgrade your SIM. At that point, I would expect T-Mobile to incur that cost, not me.

Well that makes alot more sense!
Very informative.

So can I ask if the "midband 5G" is the 600Mhz spectrum ?

I ask because I used to own VHF and UHF NBFM voice repeaters on hilltops when I was younger.

Hi guys I’ve been a lurker for years and always love this time of the year when we all come together with our obsession 😩 Thanks for all the good info shared!
I have a question... did anyone pay the extra shipping to have it “overnight delivery”? I didn’t this year and I usually don’t and still receive my phone on release day. I think last year I paid for it and did not receive it release day. I took my chances this year hoping the “2 day shipping” would somehow work out as it did previous years and I’ll get it on 10/23.

I did call T-Mobile to see if I could change the shipping since I haven’t been charged yet but no luck. She pretty much said I’d have to cancel the order and get to the back of the line. 😕

I usually don’t pay for the overnight shipping but T-Mobile is usually good delivering my phone on launch without that. I think you’ll be fine!

Here’s a pretty good article if you’re curious.

Citizens One still can't give me the actual reason why I was denied IUP. Just states they can't verify my information. Guess I'll just have to make bigger payments on my ACI then. I like the option of upgrading yearly, as I'm sure everyone else does here too. Just not a fan of any issues that happen.

That’s what I’m hoping 🤞🏽 Thanks!
Usually they offer free fast shipping when you order it, but T-Mobile usually has them all in your hands by launch date. I never had a issue with them before hand, and I been doing it since the iP7+ Launch without issues.

About the same time frame as me, no charge either.

I was within a couple hours of launch, no charge. More concerning is the shipping estimate on my order confirmation says november 3-9. Do most of you have one earlier than that or is it just something I should disregard entirely?

This is same as me. I ordered at about 9:30am and ship date said 10/23-10/23 in the order, but confirmation email showed 11/3-11/9 like you. Not charged yet.

I'm also 10/23-10/23. Ordered about 5 minutes before official launch time. No credit card charge yet.

I got charged today for an order placed well after launch time in store, around 10:30am Eastern. But it was for a model that was still listed as launch-day shipping at the time I ordered it. Graphite 128gb 12 pro.

Was it Jump on Demand or regular upgrade? It seems like JOD customers are getting charged first. 🤔

I am a long time T-Mobile customer. I have always purchased my iPhone directly with full payment directly from Apple. If I am not on Jump or any equipment installment plan is there any benefit to ordering an iPhone from T-mobile’s website? Is this thread to track orders for T-mobile iPhone’s from Apple or from T-mobile? Seeing the $30 discount and $150 additional trade in cash back, I might not go for the usual SIM free phone but opt for the T-mobile iPhone 12 Pro max when released. Looking for some advice where one should place an order. Thanks,
