I've read all the posts but I am still a little confused on how to get this to work. When I am on my home network it works great, but I can't get it to work on edge. I have opened up ports 5010 and 5012 on my router. I have opened up both for UDP and TCP. Should I only open it for one of those, does it matter which one it is? Please someone tell me what I am doing wrong, or what step I am missing.

Maybe someone can help me...

im going out of town, so is there anyway I can access my macbook without a router in between?

the latest build as the ability to change your password and username...

only shows backround

i get it to work but when the site opens it only shows my backround without any buttons what did i do wrong

Anyone using an action tech 704WG router?

I get this to work on my desktop safari browser while running the ap but not on my iphone. I'm running 10.4.9 Sorry but I'm stuck. I tired using the port forward on the control panel but still no luck. Any ideas?

Still not working

My iphone works great on 10.4.9. the only thing is that I can not gain access to the server via my phone. I tried the 5010 and the 5012 forwarded ports but still nothing..perhaps I'm an idiot!

pretty cool...good work!

wow, that's cool... it works great on my wifi, going to try it on edge later.
just wanted to say good work!

Latest version - rocks!

For those that haven't yet installed iPhone Remote or don't have it set to update, there have been numerous updates. At this point we can now perform Spotlight searches and well as under the screen app, even interact with the host screen and remote control it.

Very awesome indeed.

Applescript to restart

First, this app is great!! I got it work even from outside my network.

Now, I'm looking for a way to (re)start this app if it quits unexpectedly or hangs when I'm away from home, since it's still new and sometime unstable. I thought of two ways so far...

1. As it stops responding on the iPhone even after clear cash etc., assuming the app on my computer is in unusual state (quit or hang), I send email with some specific title. Once the email is received in Mail.app on Mac, it will run some script to restart the iPhone Remote.

2. I keep an applescript app running all the time on Mac, and it checks status of iPhone Remote, and if something is wrong, restart the iPhone Remote.

I'm really baad on programing. The first one looks smarter cuz it only works when something is wrong, but I have no idea how to do it. The second, I started writing one, and I got it work to the point it will start the Remote whenever it's found to be not running repeatedly. However, I also want to make it restart when the Remote is not responding ("not responding" status in Activity Monitor etc.). My applescript doesn't do anything on 'hang state' as long as the Remote is running.

Here is my script...

on idle
tell application "Finder"
if process "iPhone Remote" exists then

else
launch application "iPhone Remote"
end if
end tell
return 10
end idle

Can anyone help? Also, it's great if anyone knows alternative solution to this.

Thanks,

This program works great! Very useful and creative!

I can't seem to get streaming of video to work, however. When I click on the movie file, safari says that it is too big to download.

I have media streaming enabled, and the port open on mac firewall, and using wifi on local network.

I know it is just an alpha program, but is anyone else experiencing this issue? If so, have you been able to fix it?

Thanks in advance, and look forward to future releases!

iphone remote

My observations and a couple of questions...

I can reach my desktop machine with iphone remote on my local network and the wan. Really cool. I can stream videos on the lan, but haven't tried it on wan yet. Can play individual songs (via individual files only) and open files (pdf and doc) off my desktop machine and view them on the iphone. It does seem to chew through battery though.

Questions: I cannot zoom in very far on my desktop view on the iphone, hardly enough to read it. Basically it fills the iphone screen, but cannot zoom in any farther. I have an apple 23" (1920x1200), any answers out there?

The remote seems to launch itunes on the desktop, I can move to the next song, but no audio is played. Can anyone confirm.

Also, if one tries to open any application, it should launch on the desktop, right?

Thanks for the wan how to, that got me set up. Sweet app!

I've used it via edge and wi-fi. It is really extraordinary. Two thumbs up.

How can you make your DSL not change IP address as much? Any way like if you put on a constant radio/video stream would it still change IP address so often?

Is there any service that tracks your IP address and can like Email you when it changes? Thanks!!!

Check out Dynamic DNS. I use it with my cable service and it works awesome. I have my Mac Mini run the update service so that if my IP address changes it automatically notifies dyndns so all I need to remember is my name. It makes bookmarking your links very easy.

Although, if your DSL IP is changing a lot you may run into problems with their terms of service.

Check it out....

I had the same problem using different software with files named m4v rather than mp4. Changing the file extension solved that problem for me, on the other software.

I can't get mines to work, I'm using a linksys router, I went to the application and gaming tab and dis this.
Port Range
Start-5010 End 5012 Protocol-Both IP address 192.168.1.X

This was easy for me to install. All I had to do was disable the Firewall in OS X for the few minutes I wanted to test it out. I'm running it through a Netgear 'Super G" router.

The remote (iTunes) and iSight camera features are cool, but that's it. The remote desktop is really slow, but I'm sure in due time this will become better.

It's really cool that we have something like this that came out just a few days after the iPhone launch.

I'm with you...
Looked all over for "instructions". Can't figure out what I'm doing incorrectly.

Create a "babysitter cam"...

I use a program called EvoCam that, among many other things, turns your camera on and displays what it's seeing in a window on your desktop. I'm sure there are more applications that do this.

With EvoCam running, use Telekinesis to view your computer's desktop remotely and zoom in on your camera's window. This shows "live from your house." The picture automatically updates about every 6 seconds on wifi, 20 on Edge.

When EvoCam "owns" your video cam, you cannot take a video cam snapshot using Telekinesis.

-----

I have not tried the script listed above to restart Telekinesis, but I have tried another remote control app called "Remote Buddy." You can run both on your Mac at the same time, with appropriate ports forwarded, of course. Although it's kludgy, you can use Remote Buddy to restart Telekinesis when necessary.
