It's actually very simple.
The person signs the contract with their name and full address.
I only send the card to the address in the NDA Agreement.

MacPro5.1 past Catalina:
Dont see any reason why it shouldnt.
We tested a native installation way without dosdude with OpenCore and it works.
Will also work in future if you use the OpenCore Bootloader for it
and of course if the GPU is supported in the OS Version which you try to install.

Thank you.

NDA's are a powerful method to protect yourself and your IP. If you are concerned, add a non-competition clause in the NDA as well as hefty fines / financial responsibility for legal fees on any unauthorized disclosure.

Yes, you can buy cards from us under nda.

I find that I am having trouble picturing how this would work. I think this means changing my GPU, or am I missing something (a bit daft, I know....)

I am running a Mac Pro 2012 5.1 with two 27-inch LED Cinema Display monitors hooked up to a Radeon HD7950 GPU. I suppose if I change to a flashed Titan Ridge from @dsm2, I will be able to keep using my current users and open up the possibility to start using more modern Thunderbolt monitors. Plus it opens up to possibility to hook up TB devices. Is this correct?

Thanks!
Willem

Yes, If you switch your GPU and use the Titan Ridge you will be able to use Thunderbolt Displays.
If you want to use the new Apple Screen you will need propably 2 Titan Ridge Cards.
Two cards because the titan ridge has a limit of 5k Video Resolution.

Yes, correct :)

You only need to connect your GPU to the GC-TITAN RIDGE if you want to use a Thunderbolt display (LG UltraFine 5K, Apple Pro Display XDR, etc.) or if you want to connect a display to a Thunderbolt dock.

Does your 7950 not have any DisplayPort outputs?

Yes. You could get up to 5K from a Thunderbolt display and use other Thunderbolt devices.

If you want to use the new Apple Screen you will need 2 Titan Ridge Cards.
Two cards because the titan ridge has a limit of 5k Video Resolution.
2 Titan Ridge cards does not help with the Apple Pro Display XDR because the XDR only has one Thunderbolt input. If you have a GPU that does not support Display Stream Compression (DSC) then you need two DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 connections from the GPU, through the GC-TITAN RIDGE, to the XDR. The GC-TITAN RIDGE with normal firmware does not allow dual HBR3 though. We don't know if the custom GC-TITAN RIDGE firmware will allow it. Apple makes their Titan Ridge controllers in their Macs and the Blackmagic eGPU allow it somehow.

You might consider a Navi AMD GPU which does support DSC.

Hi all,

I am a new member here in this forum, was reading a lot in the past but as a complete noob in everything that is computer-related there was nothing I could contribute to the forum ;)

Accidently found this thread and holy ****, what you guys made possible is insane!
I am running a small music Studio in southwest germany, I own a 2009 macpro that got already upgraded to a 12-core 3,46 5.1 model (I didn’t do that myself).

I originally planned to stay on this machine as is, but having the opportunity to use my RME UFX+ Via thunderbolt on that computer would be a blast!

@DSM2.Hacintosh: Would be fantastic if there is a possibility to get hold of a flashed card, so if you are planning in doing more and would sell it to me (of course under NDA agreement) you would make an old man happy :)

I really wished I knew more about all the computer and programming stuff, but I am only able to line up some musical notes to a more less good song ;)

cheers, Lucky667

I‘ve been running a UFX+ with my MP5.1 via TB3 (with TB3>TB2 Apple adapter) for several months without any issues, but to get TB3 to work in macOS we first had to boot into a windows partition to establish the TB3 connection, which didn’t always work so it required some fiddling with drivers / reboots / etc (a real PITA), and then finally reboot into macOS.... It’s fiddly and not very reliable.

Now with @DSM2’s fix we can remove this whole windows bit and boot straight into macOS and everything should work as expected... Totally worth it IMO.

If that's not perfect, I really don't know how perfect work should look like...

My CalDigit TS3 Plus seems broken, I also have to connect and disconnect it sometimes with the original thunderbolt I/O card otherwise it won't work.

Will RMA it tomorrow

@Itconnects Yes, the card was working before in an MacPro7,1
but at that time I tried it in an other slot and just wanted to compare the card
built-in in other slots and also without the I/O card at all.

Video from an 5.1 :
Not at the moment. Will do one if I have access to it in my private rooms.
Or one of the guys who get one of the cards will send one over for a upload.

These Video was just made to proof that the firmware is perfect in every way.

I cant test all the tech world wide available but this video proofs that its fully functional.
Of course the macpro5,1 needs addiotional stuff besides from the firmware itself
but the MacPro7,1 needs the files also otherwise hotplug would not work if the card is placed in a different slot.

The Injection process is needed since Apple hardcode PCIe Slots...
or in the Case of the MacPro5,1 never handled things like that,
but this is not related to our solution, its related because Apple never invented the machine
the way we actually use it for such stuff and thats why we have to fix them different.

1) I recommend at least High Sierra or even better Mojave installed for it.
2) OpenCore is also important and necessary for it since this will fix most of the issues Apple messed up back then (EFI wise) and its also needed for hotplug since we inject the macpro5.1 properties,
which it usually would never load on this slot or better to say for this card at all.

Dont get panic - everything will be good and we will write a How To for it.

@TerminalStrip - UAD was always a no brainer - also without our custom solution.
I cant try Antelope and to be honest and I dont want to buy every tech available out there just because people ask.

If the card works perfect in a MacPro7,1 no matter which slot, which Device and also with my hackintosh machines, I dont see any reason why it should make problems on different devices
but at the end of the day I cant guarantee the people anything besides of the fact that the Firmware is perfect.

If problems acures they are not related to our work !

So for the 5.1 fix we’ll be needing open core? What additional stuff?

Yes, since the EFI made by Apple for the MacPro5,1 is really messed up and you also need it for hotplug.
You can use it without aswell but its not reliable and you would not have hotplug for thunderbolt devices.
The problem is like I already said how Apple handles certain stuff.

DSM2.Hackintosh is behaving in a way I can best describe as fraudulent. He just sent me a refund telling me that he was contacted by gigabytes lawyers. now he has our address and signatures. I don’t take any of this stuff lightly at all. I don’t think he ever had a solution but that’s just me. There had to be a reason for his initial behavior and this all proves it. Just because our money was refunded does not mean it’s not a suspicious. He gaslighted for a week and then this.

Don't see why he deserves to be attacked or accused in this manner!

He refunded you the order as he was having issues with Gigabyte's lawyers which I also don't get seeing that we are entitled to do what we want with products we purchase.

@DSM2.Hackintosh If I was you I would pull the firmware you just posted and just share with individuals that respect your work as they too would be protective of it. I would also encourage you to consult with a lawyer as Gigabyte can't take action against you under EU law.

Some individuals need to stop attacking others (contributors or not) because of their hightened sense of entitlement or paranoia. If you lack proof or evidence then please keep opinions you have of others to yourselves.

Gigabyte can’t take any action, which is why the whole thing came off suspicious (NDA)

Twisted reality, someone calls me a fraud although I have refunded him the money
without any ifs and buts and makes stress... but I'm looking for conflict?

I wish everyone else here a good time and have fun with the firmware, after all there are good people everywhere, also in this forum.

You will have to create an SSDT for your card aswell.

Thanks for the kind words in the thread and via PN.

Just one last post...

Firmware for the Titan Ridge based on NVM23

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/opencore-on-the-mac-pro.2207814/

OpenCore EFI attached for the MacPro5,1 with an SSDT (created by my Friend @apfelnico) for Slot 4.

Install the Thunderbolt Card in Slot 4 and have Thunderbolt with hotplug from cold boot on.

Everything you need you will find in the files attached.

Edit: search the further posts on updated version of the firmware...
