This is all amazing. I ordered the card, I downloaded the files....... I have NO IDEA what to do with these things! Hoping to use this for Universal Audio at the photo studio and etc.

I see there's been some tension - hopefully there's a step by step for those of us that don't use OpenCore frequently.. etc etc....

DSM2 my most humble gratitude for making this work for us out here!

OpenCore EFI attached for the MacPro5,1 with an SSDT (created by my Friend @apfelnico) for Slot 4.

Install the Thunderbolt Card in Slot 4 and have Thunderbolt with hotplug from cold boot on.

Everything you need you will find in the files attached.

This is amazing, thank you so much!

If we already have OpenCore installed (in my case for hardware accelerated video encoding/decoding with the Radeon VII) is it just the "OpenCore.efi" file that we'll need to transfer over to the EFI partition?

I want to thank's DSM2 for his work ! GREAT !
But... how we can change the firmware of the card by the one gived by DSM2 ?
What we need to do with the .bin file ?

DSM2, why you don't give a way to donate for your work ?

Totally! Just setup some Paypal address and I'm sure lots of folks here will contribute.

From what I gathered, you need an eprom flasher to do the firmware update. Correct me if I'm wrong - which I'd love to be...

Sometimes community supports are far better than fruity friends itself, especially hackintosh community contributors who helps our old 5,1 keep alive.

DSM2.Hackintosh, even is just short time, many thanks for your visit and sharing your knowledge, your good deed will stay with us 5,1 and hacks community.

For everyone asking .bin files, it might be flashable firmware for your GC-cards. After all DSM2 hard works and leaving firmware here, I think is our work to figure out by ourselves.

Hi Dominik thankyou for your response.
It may be easy for you but for many of us here we need some detailed instructions on how to use the ch341a and how to run the Flashrom software .... If you could post some instructions for dummies it would be greatly appreciated.

Will this help? (not my video)

If you don't know how to flash the firmware, you shouldnt do it at all.

You can brick the Thunderbolt card easy, even if you know how to do it.

This has to do with the fact that the Clip EEPROM Programmer is wrongly polarized and permanently uses 5 volts instead of the 3.3 volt concerns.

I doubt that someone who doesn't know how to do a flash, suddenly knows how to rewire it correctly.

This is amazing!
DSM2. please don't let this thing die.
I prefer not to flash the firmware myself, I just don't know how to do it.
What are the options? can someone sell the card after the firmware was done?

Actually this will die faster as you guys think...

After all the crap I've read about myself both in emails and in forums, I will certainly not put another second into it.

People are ungrateful... You guys don't know what I was going through to make it public...

The firmware is perfect and my video with the MacPro7.1 proves this more than clearly enough.

On hackintosh this works also without problems, provided you configure the platform correctly...

Also it brings Thunderbolt 3 to Macs or computers which never had the possibility to run Thunderbolt...

In Germany we say : As one calls into the forest, so it echoes out.

I heard and read every bad word about me out there...

Thanks DSM2 for the heads up re the polarity issue.
Does this apply to every CH341A 24 25 Series EEPROM programmer out there ?
And secondly I am pretty handy with a soldering iron ... it would be awesome if you could explain the correct wiring config.

also DSM2 be happy to pay you for a detailed explanation of how to fix the wiring issue and how to proceed with the firmware update.

I have used the manual like this: (and the Video with Flashrom)

forums.macrumors.com/threads/testing-tb3-aic-with-mp-5-1.2143042/page-27?post=28226897#post-28226897 Post 653.

The red wire ist point 1, and the point 1 on the blue chip is the blue point :)

You can save the TitanRidgeMacOSFirmware.bin to your user folder and type for flashing:

sudo flashrom -p ch341a_spi -w TitanRidgeMacOSFirmware.bin and enter

(For Backup i use:
sudo flashrom -p ch341a_spi -r TB_blue_dump.bin
)

@DSM2.Hackintosh,

I’ll add my voice to the growing chorus of supporters of your work. The modified GC-Titan Ridge firmware functions very nicely and I hope you will eventually extend your work to other Titan Ridge systems.

Having just translated the German Hackintosh thread to English, I see that you don’t think that an SSDT alone is capable of achieving an equivalent result. Have you or your colleagues attempted an SSDT-only solution?

So Dominik, what do you make from what DSM2 says about voltage?
The post you quote doesn't address it either, except from the "making sure the clip is grabbing the chip correctly".

- Nothing, it just works for me.

- You have to flash the blue ROM. The red Wire on the programmer is pin one, (look at the Pictures) and the pin one on the chip ist the blue point.
