This thread reads like it is on iMore, I don't spend time on there because I'm not an iSheep. This site seems to be more rational most of the time. I understand that to a hell of a lot of people Apple is the best option(I'm getting that way myself) but there are a lot of people that can't see Apple do any wrong no matter what they do.

I look on threads like this in the same way I look at say Trip Advisor, I take the top 25% of both positive and negative comments and use the middle 50%

My Air 2 and 6s do have stuttering and the Air 2 has some lag but does it make me want to get rid of them, no way. The iPad is still easily the best tablet for what I use it for(I use a Surface Pro 3 for work) and the only thing stopping me using my 6s day to day is because of no jailbreak so I use my 6 which is.

Below is a quote from one of the ambassadors on the iMore site, if ever there was an iSheep!

"I didn't know I wanted a digital music player and Apple gave me an iPod.
I didn't know I wanted a tablet and Apple gave me an iPad.
I didn't know I wanted to pay at Starbucks with my phone and Apple gave me Apple Pay.
I didn't know I wanted an ecosystem to tie eveything together along with my iPhone, and Apple gave me the best ecosystem for me"

Edit: forgot to say that I am getting much better battery on 9.0.2 with my Air 2 than I was on 8.4(I never had 8.4.1)

Okay pinch to zoom is lagging badly for some reason, scrolling in tapatalk.app is stuttering too, scrolling in recent calls too. Is this is Metal's fault? The thing is that iPhone is powerful enough to perform these tasks well. It's the last thing where it should lag. Same thing with iPad air it lags where it shouldn't. Strangely it doesn't lag when pinching to zoom or scrolling.

These iPhone are so powerful that it boggles my mind how Apple can't get the animations smoothed out while heavy 3D games run at near 60 fps

It's even more frustrating that they came through with that promise on OS X El Capitan, and not iOS. El Capitan IS faster on my 2013 MBA. It's kinda freaky how they made things a lot more fluid and quick. I thought a 2 year old machine couldn't get faster.

Exactly, wonderful miracles can be done through software optimization, and as compurers have a longer lifespan Apple "focuses" on them, but as for iOS, well, this doesn't seems to have taken effect anywhere.

Yeah, too many people on here take criticism of Apple as a personal affront. Emotionally immature really. Too much personal identity is wrapped up in whoever manufactures their box of chips. I think it's people with the religious gene who point it at a multinational billionaire corporation and feel the same fervour, zeal and sweaty palms. Corporations have realised they need to be like football teams and get a bunch of raving lunatics to support them in all endeavours. Though at least the average football fan knows when his team are playing terrible.

I've liked Apples stuff for 30 odd years, but they're a bunch of greedy people.
I mean they've just effectively bricked a hell of a load of people who are stuck on Snow Leopard/Lion from managing their iOS9 devices. By fooling them into upgrading with the exact same iTunes that won't work afterwards. Their only recourse to get back their data is to buy a new machine. A whole new machine, to put some tunes on your iPhone.

(Spectrum was better than C64 though....)

edit, removed profanity, sorry for being English.

Too many people making sweeping, broad generalizations that when countered get into name calling. For those who iPhones are not useable I say take them into Apple. The others who may be annoyed with some of the lag, take it into Apple. Take them into Apple.

As far as the average sports fan; I know when my teams stumbles and when to cut them some slack. I also know when my team is at the top of their game.

Agreed. It baffles me how someone can spend hours whining on a forum about "Apple sucks" and "Fanboys are so blind" but can't spend 2 minutes contacting support to troubleshoot the issue? It's like they aren't even trying to get issues resolved and use their time productively.

You think if it was that easy, we wouldn't do that? Apple support suggests to restore your device. When you do that and the lag is still there they tell you to wait for an update. Its a waste of time.

The 6+ seems to be the phone with the most issues. Other phones 4s, 5, 5s, 6 seem to be split amongst the extremes (horrible to perfect) and a number of people in the middle (basically good but some issues).
I'd say the 6+ owners seem to be the most picky user on this forums...
Today I spent almost 3 hrs playing with a 6+, iOS 9.0.2 installed just like my 6, and I can't see substantial difference in performance between the two phones.

Typical of MacRumors ...
people keep complaining here, and keep buying Apple's products. Something's wrong.
I wouldn't buy another iPhone if I had this opinion about it and Apple.

Unfortunately, this is not a question of a lack of effort on the part of someone such as myself who has experienced a sluggish UI overall since upgrading to iOS 9. I've restored and restored from a backup, restored and set up as new, done all the little tips and tricks provided here on the forums by users such as toggling Reduce Motion and Transparency on/off. Nothing helps/hurts, just a steady set of sluggish interactions that feel like my whole phone user experience is stuck in molasses.

The problem is, I don't think it's beyond me to expect that my device performs up to par with what's expected from the hardware. This isn't a Nokia flip phone logic board under the display panel. This is hardware that should be running circles around the OS that it's rendering, and also I have a high expectation from Apple to deliver UX that is far beyond a typical company.

I have a 6+ and I'd be more than happy to sit you down and show you every area on my device that shows unresponsiveness or choppiness when being used.

Once again, is it a stretch to think that the actual reality is somewhere in the middle between "No our phones are performing perfect and we have no lag" and "yes, there IS in fact lag and sluggishness"? Only every time someone like myself tries to point out that maybe some of you aren't as perceptive to this as other people, everyone gets all up in arms and starts complaining that we're accusing them of lying. Truth is maybe you DON'T see it, but the reality is, maybe it's still there.

We're all on the same team here, so one would think that we'd all like to see ALL of us have a device that performs within the standards that we've come to expect from a company that prides itself on both the user experience and interface design like Apple.

Is there a Apple store near you where you can take it in? Maybe they will replace it? Have you considered selling it and going with a different phone all together so you can get the experience you want?

I'm not saying that speaking up about issues you run into is a bad thing, it's actually a good thing. Makes folks more aware and allows folks to collaborate to find a resolution. Looking at the OP first comment is not something that encourages problem solving and resolution. It's a straight up whine fest!

Today I had an issue with a service that I have been using for the past few years. I could have hopped on a forum and complained about how horrible they are and what they did to me, but I decided to do something about it and called them up. They resolved the issue and my time was well spent addressing it that way.

But creating threads that encourage whining is more productive? I'd be selling the phone and getting something else, asking Apple for a replacement or just be patient and wait for the 9.1 official release next month.

Whining will get you absolutely nowhere. Asking for help and encouraging collaboration is something else entirely. Just saying.

Thing is there is no choice but to upgrade to the 6s if the experience is bad on the 6 because I already have a lot of $$$ tied up in all the apps which I have to purchase again in the Play Store not to mention I cant live without iMessage and InfinityBlade.Eventually I am forced to support Apple's strategy.
Besides Android Lollipop has similar lags in Widgets as well as Contacts and Settings scroll so i wouldnt make a difference. The only difference now is that the days of iOS being smooth even on slightly old flagships are now over unless 9.1 manages t ofix this

What troubleshooting have you done so far?

Clean install? Check to see if things are working as advertised before doing any restores or app installs?

Did you talk to Apple and can you reproduce the issue consistently to show them?

Can you wait until 9.1 next month?

Have you tried the 9.1 Beta?

As I said before, there are extremely picky users on this forum, with expectations maybe well beyond reasonability ...
You said "performs within the standards". Correct. Who set those standards ? Apple did.
If you don't like it, you are clearly free to go elsewhere. I can't see anything better than my wife's iPhone 5S in my son's Galaxy S5, in terms of responsiveness and lags. Quite on the contrary.
Maybe the level of "smoothness" some picky user are claiming here just doesn't exist.

If he sat down with you and showed you lag, you wont see it? So you are just refusing to see it then? Because it does exist.
