The Express is not - to my mind - a serious source.

Sky Sports....hm.
All journalism isn’t a serious source these days. Just articles designed to build engagement whether it’s true or not. Just helps with the ad revenue.
I’m talking online of course. I haven’t bought a physical newspaper in over a decade.

I wouldn't say "all". some, yes, most certainly.

Some newspapers and/sources are still serious, and, if they make a mistake, or get something wrong, it tends to be an honest mistake (I'm thinking about the Guardian, The Economist, the FT, for example, each of which I have subscribed to; when she was still mentally sharp, and alert and able, my mother used to love taking The Economist with her to bed to read, I kept the subscription for years partly for her).

Too true.

Actually, when at home, I still buy newspapers - in fact, I have the week-end FT delivered to my letterbox (thanks to my local shop, they are very good, they keep organic milk for me weekly, as well, and also deliver some citrus fruit to me each week) every Saturday when I am home.

The Guardian, I read online, along with some others.

However, as for the Express: All you need to see are the absolute plethora of Harry & Meghan stuff they publish, mostly pure drivel, which - clearly (and unfortunately) - drives (reader) engagement and thus, alas, ad revenue.

Sweden - Switzerland fulltime 1 - 0

Could've been more goals, but a clear win anyway.

Now game against Italy on Tuesday, want to see more distinct play then.

I never see any news about the Royals. One of the reasons I like reading the newspaper headlines and news online. I just read the ones that interest me.
The sky sports app is actually quite good for football news and commentary.

Of course our earlier talk of Everton and how poor they have been may have been premature.
That’s who we have on Sunday!
Hopefully we have no European hangover.

If anyone in the UK particularly in London picked up a free copy of the Evening Standard today and read the article on football watch I hoped you laughed as much as I did. The other passengers on the train must have wondered what the hell I was reading. Not directly quoted but......

Don't ever talk about it. If someone brings up the subject deflect the conversation as soon as you can. Don't think about it when you are bored at work, don't write it on the back of your hand with a ball point pen. If another teams supporter brings 'it' up change the subject as soon as possible. 'it' is never to be spoken about. Don't dream about it, don't think it, don' say it. If you overhear a conversation about 'it' walk away, run away.

What am I talking about? The possibility that Tottenham could win the EPL this season hahaha

Again to continue with the article I read but my own take on it. No plagiarism intended.

Tottenham last won the league in 1961. I was born in 1960, I have been married three times, I have four daughters, my mother is now a great grandmother and STILL WE HAVEN'T WON THE LEAGUE

Don't even whisper 'it' in dark alley ways or places you think no one can hear.................

I'm laughing, reading your post.

Brilliant.

Actually, the Guardian had an article today which touched on this subject, advising (while quoting fans who had said this) that one "simply enjoy it while it lasts".

As I speak its half time Crystal Palace 0 Tottenham 0 will they fold now or go on to victory and go 5 points clear before anyone else plays at the weekend? does it really matter?

Arsenal (don't quote me) were 5 points clear of Manchester City last season going into April and they still didn't make it. Squad strength and injuries. That will befall Spurs at some point.

If Spurs win the League I'd be more than surprised. But imagine how Kane would feel!

Oh it is so early days and Harry has broken a record at Bayern already but I think they are sitting 3rd in the league today? it must play on his mind a little but don't forget he is playing in the Champions League and Spurs have no European football at all this season.

Which is probably helping their league position somewhat. No other distractions. I still don't think they maintain it before they get Spursy

I was there at White Hart Lane on an awful windy Wednesday evening in the 2016/2017 season. Spurs at home to Leicester. We lost 0-1 in I think a last gasp 89th minute winner for Leicester. That sealed our fate we finished second in a year when all the big guns were out of sorts.

Could that happen again? I don't think so the competition is so fierce now just look at Brighton last season and Aston Villa this season. Plus Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and even my (second) favourite coach after Ange the great Pochetino at Chelsea.

I don't even see Spurs qualifying for the Champions league this season. Next season? I have great expectations.

Whatever happens I wish Harry Kane the best because he deserves it. The man is an icon in football already for Tottenham, England and I suspect soon Bayern Munich
Complete agreement from this Arsenal supporter.
Back to that article in the Evening News. As a Spurs supporter the writer says ' it's the hope that kills you'!
Well, yes.

However, (as with us last year), the only counsel I can tender is to enjoy it while it lasts, and take things one game at a time.

In any case, you are currently two nil ahead against Crystal Palace at the 91st minute (and eight minutes of extra time are to be played, apparently), thus, I shall be surprised if you are not still in position at the top of the table tonight..

And so the hysteria continues after an average performance. Crystal Palace 1 - Tottenham 2 now 5 points clear at the top before the weekend games and we will still be top until next weekend.

I can hear the terraces now 'Tottenham Tottenham top of the league' I have been guilty of singing it myself in past years but it is usually short lived !!

So many memories not all good.

I was there at White Hart Lane for the ticker tape welcome of Osvaldo Ardiles and Ricky Villa from Argentina. Wednesday evening game I went with my girlfriend. Lost 1-4 to Aston Villa. It was such an anti climax!

I was there the season Spurs got relegated before the Premier League existed. Again a Wednesday night bitter cold and raining, lost the game 0-1 to Derby County got relegated and an old man two rows in front of us died from a heart attack the St Johns Ambulance service took him away. I think he just gave up the will to support Spurs anymore!

The following season I was there to watch Spurs thump Bristol Rovers 9-0 in the lower division that was quite a day but muted by the fact we had fallen out of the top tier.

One of the keys in trying to challenge for, (remain rooted to, and stay in), the top spot is managing to win games (consistently) with a fairly average performance.

Moreover, you will find that in such seasons, the small things can often go your way.

Anyway, a very good win for Spurs.

Five points clear at the top, with ten games played.

I was also there back in the 1980's when there was the replay of the FA Cup against Manchester City. I was working for AMSTRAD and due to something I did really well Alan Sugar sent his Finance Director to my desk at work and gave me two tickets to that game. I will never forget my brother next to me as Ricky Villa jinked into the 18 yard box screaming fu*king hit it. Which of course he did!

So I have lamented enough about my Tottenham experiences who will win the EPL this season? I am going Man City again I don't think anyone else will be able to sustain performances with the squads they have over a full season.

Agreed.

Actually, I think that injuries (to key players in key positions) will put paid to the aspirations and hopes of the various respective chasing challengers to Manchester City's dominance.

They have not just bottomless resources (and an excellent manager), but have the luxury of a squad with such strength in depth that their substitute bench is the envy of almost every remaining first team in the Premier League.

Champions League? That could be tricky anyone want to pick a winner? For Harry Kane I would love to say Bayern Munich but I don't think so. Is it Jude's year at Real Madrid? I would like to see that also.
