Will Harry Maguire play for United tonight? 🤔

Aston Villa in the mix now as well with Mings out injured.

He's on the bench.

Apparently the holdup with West Ham was agreeing to personal terms, as anywhere he goes will result in a significant drop in salary because Ed Woodward grossly overpaid him. Hopefully some interest from Villa will get that transfer over the line.

Rashford starts up top for United with Garnacho starting on the left. That has to be their best attacking formation for the moment, with Højlund not fit yet and Martial only just returned to fitness.

[EDIT: dreadful first half from United. Wolves look well up for it.]

Sod off
Wolves deserve to go behind for missing all them chances.
Ha, Arsenal fans will be extremely familiar with Wolves' current predicament.

I was just thinking this match had all the hallmarks of Man Utd 1-0 Wolves (Rashford 90+2). I got the scorer and time wrong but otherwise, yeah, a classic example of it being the result, rather than the performance, that ultimately matters....

EDIT:
Wow, Man Utd incredibly lucky not to concede a late penalty...It certainly looked like a foul at full speed.

Wolves will feel fairly aggrieved with this result. Man Utd were second best much of the match, even if they had a lot of the ball.

Yup. We’ve been there plenty of times in the past.

Better team but always ended up losing against United at Theatre Of Dreams.

Terrible, but... 3 points. We didn't deserve them, but I'll take 'em.

Whole team looked bad aside from Sancho, Varane, and Onana. Wolves just obliterated United in the midfield and bottled up United's wingers. They made Casemiro look like was standing still most of the game.

Wolves denied a clear pen at the end. It wasn't even open for debate and still got it wrong despite VAR.

Utd need to improve quite a bit.

Against a better team, they would've been buried.

Yup. Onana got away with it and Gary O Neil picked up yellow for jumping up and down lol.

Chelsea done good business by selling Mason Mount and Kai Havertz.

Both were terrible.

I still can’t get my head around Arteta’s obsession with Havertz.

Trossard surely deserves to start ahead of him.

Since his initial arrival at Chelsea, I can't get my head around anyone's obsession with Havertz.

Wolves deserved a draw at the very least, and, if they had been able to put away any of their chances, would have deserved to win and claim all three points.

It seems that they may have been denied what looked like a clear penalty, also.

Gary Neville was scathing:
"I thought Wolves were absolutely fantastic tonight.
Manchester United's midfield was non-existent, the front three didn't work hard enough in a defensive sense.
Wolves got a new manager four days ago and there was doom and gloom about their season, but they were absolutely fantastic.
United were outplayed and can feel fortunate that they came away with three points. They did not deserve it."

Mark my words.

Lisandro Martinez is going to injure some one seriously or cost United points by getting sent off.

Reminds me of old Xhaka.

Been doing some number crunching and with the latest departures and the rumours still circulating about others, Saints will have the potential to have grossed approx £200m in transfer fees this season alone.
Having picked up most of the incoming players so far on free transfers plus Shea Charles from Man City for £12.5m, it seems (on paper) to be pretty good business for a freshly relegated club - and shows how bloated our squad was to begin with.

United's midfield are going to have growing pains and ETH has to get his system right. Mount's best position is going to be the 8 that United will ask him to play, but building a solid understanding with Casemiro will take some time. Clearly Casemiro wasn't occupying the right positions and getting too far up the pitch much of the time, as if he were the more attacking midfielder, and Wolves midfielders caught him out again and again. Kobbie Mainoo would have been useful in a match like this.

They also have to get used to playing with a passing goalkeeper. Too many of United's midfielders got upfield when Onana had the ball instead of dropping back to receive a pass. Still too much muscle memory of David De Gea's long, aimless punts.

Casemiro also desperately needs cover / help. Have to get the Amrabat transfer over the line. Amadou Onana would be an interesting shout, but probably too expensive.

Right. only a couple of hours away from the first semifinal.
Predictions?
I think Sweden will just be a bit too strong for Spain and will nick it by a goal...maybe a 3-1 scoreline.

Based on all my earlier predictions, this means a win by at least two goals to Spain.

The introduction of new players has not worked well for United as it was clear to see in the game that they were very disjointed. It took the club way to long to get their transfers done and thus were not able to get the new players and existing players climatized with each other. The goalkeeper situation could be a long term issue for the team because they have got so used to how De Gea played that in given situations when he had the ball, they would instinctively know how to position themselves ready to receive the ball. Onana is a totally different type of goalkeeper and thus there is going to be a few errors where the ball is cheaply given away because the players will be unsure how the ball will be received to them.

The game against wolves is a good learning lesson for any manager which is that transfers before the start of the new season must be completed early so that the manager can use pre-season training to get any new transfer acclimatized with their new team. Over the past couple of seasons Wolves have shown they can be a formidable team and the game showed that. United rode their luck and oh boy were they lucky.

I have only seen highlights of WWC games but what I have seen of games from Sweden and Spain, I do think Sweden has the edge here but as we have seen in tournaments and cup competitions before (men and women), those that want it more can surprise everyone.

Not really nervous, yet, before today's Sweden - Spain 😅

We have good inside info from Fridolina Rölfö who plays in Barcelona.
We're gonna take this.

Read this comment on the BBC page that is following the game, an interesting point made
Worth pointing out that of the 4 semi finalists, only England haven't been on the end of a thrashing in the past 18 months. Sweden have lost to 4-0 to both England and Australia, Spain lost 4-0 to Japan and Australia lost 7-0 to Spain. Consistency wins trophies.
