Worst thing is... what will happen in the future?
Does this mean the next HTC Ones flagships (2015, 2016, etc) will also keep using an UltraPixel camera?
This would really hurt HTC.
Now there's no hope for them using a 13Mpx or 16Mpx camera in the 2015 HTC One.
A few more pictures next to the current crop of smartphones.
I want to see the new HTC One in person. I want to see some pictures taken in all kinds of light. But i really hope HTC got it together with the camera.....

Yeah....the speakers in front come at a price of larger bezels......But they are awesome!

even though I'm a note nut...love the look of it. My Girl has the HTC one and it is nice in the hand. be interesting the other new features.

Hopefully, HTC will put in a better camera than what they did on the current One.
hope so...from everything i see and hear about the new One.......If they just add a decent camera they will have a great selling phone. I don't understand the reluctance of HTC to just ad a 13Mp camera with good low light quality capabilities. C'mon HTC get this done..
So this is definitive? Is this truly a 16 MP image or something along the lines of the '50 MP' image provided by the new Oppo 7? Many questions remain.
Also does anybody here work for Verizon or have a friend who does? I'd like some info regarding this launch day release for Verizon.
i asked a Verizon store manager that works out at my gym. He said he does not know anything and won't until launch day.......I think he is full of BS
Sounds to me they have gone the combined ultrapixel and 13mp shooter for the back with the ultrapixel bolstering the 13mp for better lowlight...
If that's the case it would indeed give you a combined megapixel count of 16.8
And if true .... I'll be buying one sometime next week hopefully

going from much bigger device to HTC..you ok with that then? I don't think I could....
Yep will do. It's the camera that will be the deciding factor whether I buy or not.
You adjust to smaller just as much bigger. Besides ill likely hold onto my lumia 1520 and just sell off my S4 Google edition if I get the One.
so the previous rumors about 4MP cameras were wrong? or does somehow 4MP cameras make 16MP Pics?

It's partially right I suppose.
The 4mp ultrapixel on the old One is actually 3.8 to be precise.
If we surmise that the 13mp shooter that is on the new Desire and other forthcoming handsets is the second camera on the one, it could mean that the two together would create a pseudo 16mp (16.8) image.
But even ignoring the combined image mp - single 13 itself is a step in the right direction.
Assuming any of this is true and the 13 mp is a decent one.
