Can anyone recommend a case to bring along on a fishing trip? I don't want to get the obscene orange life jacket case that floats but anything similar for peace of mind.

Thanks.

If you don't need floatation, a ziplock plastic bag should work. Cheap.

That obscene orange case fits over the Lifeproof. It's not watertight by itself

I'll join in the fun here. Have been using a Caudabe Perimetric in black for the past month and love it. Phone looks incredibly sleek in the case and the case provides good protection. Probably the best bang for the buck out there that I've seen.

Another vote here for the Caudabe Perimetric. Actually, I should just copy and paste what you said because it's exactly how I feel! lol. great case.

The poetic ATMOSHPERE is the exact same case as the rooCASE Fuse on Amazon, except the rooCASE is like $4 cheaper.

A beautiful Saturn case from SPIGEN, especially the Red Metal version.

Is it a knock off? Made of the same materials?

Roocase case is an actual company. They have their own website and everything. I like their cases for my iPod touch 5g. I got mine for $6.50.

The atmosphere is made out of Thermoplastic polyurethane and the rooCase is made out of ABS polycarbonate. Different materials. I think TPU is bit better.
Feel free to do some reading about the two and their differences:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polycarbonate
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermoplastic_polyurethane

That's probably why its a bit cheaper though. The atmosphere listed on amazon says its a combination of both materials: http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-Atmosphere-Apple-iPhone-Gray/dp/B0093CDLM0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369416570&sr=8-1&keywords=poetic+atmosphere

I got the best case. It looks the best but it has the best protection, though it is pricey. It's Applecare :)

The best iPhone case!

I have 2 different cases b4 this one. First one was too hard on my iPhone 5 which I'm afraid is gonna scratch it. The second one was too soft, it can't really protect my iPhone at all. Then I searched the web for the best affordable case. Believe me, this one is the answer. It's dual layer protection, the soft part is the layer that covered your iPhone and the hard layer keep your iPhone firm and sturdy. These two layers work together in an harmony conjunction to give your iPhone the protection you dreamed of.
I really like the sturdiness, grips and hold of this case. Overall this case really protect my phone.

I like the one in the pic in orange. That will most likely be my next case.

I have said, and still say, that the Belkin Grip Candy Sheer is the BEST case for the iPhone 5. I have tried MANY similar TPU cases to try to find a better case, but most have failed. One case that needs honorable mention is the Magpul Field case. This case has amazed me. The fit, feel, and overall quality of this case is great! I will probably be switching back and forth between this and the Belkin now. I prefer the more simplistic design of the Belkin, but the Magpul is still a great looking case.

The best iPhone case!

My opinion and the general web/ amazon reviews for the best slim but still protective cases for the iPhone 5 are:

Switcheasy Tones (black or purple )
Poetic Atmosphere (black/clear)
Belkin Grip Candy Sheer

In no particular order. These cases protect all edges and sides, back and have good lay on the table/ protective lip. The darker colors in TPU don't get as dirty looking over time.

The poetic is translucent showing the phone off. The poetic and sheer have rounded edges. The Tones has 90 degree edges and a good grippy sandblasted back/sides that shows no scratches. Tones comes with port covers and screen protectors, the others just the case.

I use all three. All three about the same size: Poetic slightly smaller, Belkin slightly bigger than Tones. I do mean very slightly. Button response is best on the Poetic, however all three are fine.

Just received the Magpul field case in Dark Earth (I also have it in Black). Great cases, nice grip, and decent protection. Fits like a glove - love these cases! And only $12!

I've switched different cases, but I finally found the best iPhone 5 case. It is SwitchEasy Tones, simply unrivalled.

I keep coming back to the Tones. It is the best in my opinion too.

Great Phone Case

So i'm going crazy trying to find the right case. I don't want anything to big - prefer something sleek but protects my phone as i'm very nervous about dropping it. I love the look of the phone without a case (as we all do) but would still prefer to have a full case.

Please post your favorite case along with why you like it and a link.

I'm looking to purchase in the next day - perhaps we can turn this into a sticky as i'm sure i'm not the only one pondering this.
I have this case for my iPhone and it is outstanding. It is not too bulky, but protects my phone so well. I highly recommend. Here is the link: http://www.otterbox.com/iPhone-4-/-4S-Commuter-Series-Case/APL4-I4SUN,default,pd.html

Magpul.

Cheap, well built, looks manly and made in the usa

Seconded. Went from Zooglue social cases (the TPU started sagging on Zooglue. Especially near the bottom of the phone). So far magpul has been slim and study.
