The MDX interior is nice and the front is definitely improved from the goofy shield. To really do the precision concept justice, however, the MDX needs a complete redesign in a couple of years.

Regardless, the thing will sell like hotcakes, because the average car buy is just glad the beak is gone.

I don't suspect the new hybrid drive train is good news for reliability, however.

You know, I think a plain front grill and much bigger wheel/tire setup would go a long way to making it look better. The MDX is a great car in that segment.

I'll take the C7 Z06 over the GT-R. Same reason why I would take the C6 Z06/ZR1 over the GT-R, you're more involved where the GT-R's computers is the reason for its great performance.

It's not as big of a deal as some people make it.

I have admittedly only poked around/in a C7Z06 but I've driven: C7 manual and auto, C6Z06 (manual only) on track and street, and a ZR1 (slightly tuned). I've also driven multiple GT-Rs, a stock '13 and a highly modified '10 (~800HP), and they're all pretty compelling for different reasons, and when you consider all the electronics in a C7, it's not like you're driving a first gen Viper :D

Agreed. This is such a minor change all around. Until there is a sedan based on the precision concept, the design for the A brand is still a question mark for me.

The RLX is a horrible vehicle and is the next one due for the full redesign. If Acura had any guts, they would put the reverse SH-AWD from the NSX (AKA RWD biased) in all flagship models. I doubt that happens.

I meant to say there are some *beautiful* details on the Audi. I'm still not in love with the new version (in terms of "20 foot design"), but the execution is spectacular.

Goddam, hahahaha, I went to the Acura site to price an MDX (again), and there's like 10,000 model variants, I didn't even know where to start. I closed my browser and cried ...

The coupé definitely looks better than the convertible IMO. No more manual though :(

I think the AWD would push me towards the GTR. It would be far more usable as a DD in the Northeast.

The new grill I think is a huge improvement over the "beak". The new face could use a facelift though, it's looking a little droopy. There must have been some Salvatore Dali influence there.

I'm hoping Acura will dump the dual LCD setup and release a modern infotainment interface.

The MDX is a great car, the RDX is pretty popular too. The facelift turned out uglier IMO but finally brought some much needed ammentities. While its substantially cheaper than the luxury competition, it's lacking some pretty basic features. If Toyota released a V6 RAV4 I wouldn't see much reason to buy an RDX.

It's amazing how Acura's sedan lineup is essentially dead- buried and decomposed. I was shocked to see a TSX the other day. I'm still waiting to see an RLX.

Way too much quilting on those seats Audi. Did Barbour do that interior?

Too much brown too. Needs black carpeting and maybe a darker color headliner. (For contrast)

RIP V6 RAV4

They already do. It's an Android based unit that's in the new Pilot and Civic. Also in the NSX

Looks like a $100 Garmin you stick on the dash. Honda/Acura will never learn.

The 911 R should have been the GT3. But that's just me. :D

Also, is it me but do I find the 911 R a whole lot more attractive than the Bugatti? I just don't mean looks but just overall. For some reason, I never really looked at Bugatti's like I do the expensive Porsche or Ferrari. Sure it has power and speed, but outside of that, even if I had the money, it's not something I would even look at purchasing.

This right here. I'd take the Porsche ANYDAY before the Bucrappi. Never did like those things - they're just hideous looking.

So NY was a *blast* as always, and the auto show was an extra special treat. Holy smokes, it was huge! I didn't go crazy with pics, just a few here and there.

The only tiny bummer: the classic Skylines weren't there, they were only on display for the couple of press days - the Nissan rep said they were from the Japanese museum and one (or two, can't remember) were from a private collection!

Speaking of, the GT-R has such presence. I think the design is so different vs. what we generally consider a sportscar, it kind of short circuits your expectations. While it doesn't (or didn't based on the last one I checked out, a '14 I believe) have the same material quality as a Porsche, it's put together so nicely. With the improvements in this new model, it seems more like a $100K car (vs. something like the Z06 which does _not_ have the mojo of a $110K+ vehicle).

The one on display was *stunning*.

The new ZL1 looked nicely badass, though the front grill is bit of a train wreck, wrong design and material choice. The fact that it's available in a convertible (I think that pic is on the wife's phone), is pretty amazing. 640HP with a 10-speed auto in a vert? Very nice. I'll be waiting patiently to see how Ford responds with the GT500 (and word is, it will also receive for the first time, an auto option, likely the same GM/Ford joint developed 10-speed)

No apologies, I want this as our new beach/tow/foul weather vehicle :D

IMG_9141.JPG

The new Boxster, so beautifully simple, I mean, if given a budget that this fit into, I'd likely buy something else, but it ranks very high on my "I can really appreciate the execution" list :)

IMG_9157.JPG

(Lighted bunny ears courtesy of my little G! They were a big hit at the show!)

Another winner from the Porsche area, the 911 R, big NA power, manual only, maybe the last of the pure "driver" 911s

IMG_9158.JPG

I thought this was a good shot of the LC500, in most pics, you don't get a sense of how wide the rear track is, it's really got a beautiful shape (even if the front grill is a bit off, it works decently well on this model).

[edit]

Per @AutoUnion39 this is an M2 _not_ an M4, so I'm having my Car Guy license revoked ... o_O

My little one was mesmerized by the M2 (no doubt due to the matching color schemes of the car and her backpack), good choice T ! :D You know, I don't know if I'd spend another $25-30K over something like an SS or a GT/PP (I do love my domestic muscle, not to mention, you're starting to approach another tier with other interesting options, even in the 1-2 year used market), but the new M is pretty spectacular.

IMG_9149.JPG

I have a lot of other shots, some "regular" cars, it was pretty packed so quite a few where the car is buried behind a wall of anonymous asses, but I'll go through and follow up later - I actually need to tend to some work (OOTO for 5 days I'm sure will wreck this week ...)

I can spend all day at a car show. It is great to see the treasures.

I could've too :) This was kind of a opportunistic situation, we were in NYC for other things, but it happen to coincide with the show. My wife and Little G had a good time too, but 2-1/2 hours was probably enough for them :D

Man, I wish I had the time to go to NY this year!

@D.T. that last BMW is a M2, not M4 (long beach blue) :)

Love the 911R

Yeah, that would've been pretty sweet if we could've connected.

Doh! My only excuse is the BMW area was swamped at the time, and I was just kind of spinning around from car to car. I'll revise my original post and go cry in the corner ...
