Does BMW really need another convertible if they still have hardtops (no idea here)? Seems like an awful waste of development money. That dealership network looks marvelous.
BMW does not have a Z car right now, and that is what this will be. It is a slightly different market to the 2er/4er based soft tops, and a big difference to the 6er. That is presuming it will end up as a pure 2 seater in BMW guise.

You missed the point I was attempting to make. Which was why does BMW need to make a convertible, soft-top or hardtop when they could do a soft-top and a traditional roof? I live in a very warm state and am about 15-20 minutes away from the coastline. The amount of convertibles pales in comparison to traditional roof cars. Data has shown convertible sales have been on a steady decline for years. I'd love to see the new Z in only traditional roof.

Bring back the Z4 Coupe!

Sync 3.0, V2.2 leaked, distributed through several Ford sites :D

Installed it this afternoon, a few improvement I've found so far, but the big news is it has fully functioning Android Auto. It should also have Car Play, but we need an updated hub, a part number has been ID'ed, a few folks have ordered - it's not a Mustang specific part, but it will apparently fit perfectly in the armrest port, and it has two USB connections vs. one, but it will disable the port under the center stack (not a big loss in my mind).

If they get theirs and it works, I'll be ordering it as well.

USB started the transition but for me, BT streaming transformed everything. It killed CD and the traditional iPod for me.

Having my phone/car interact as soon as i turn on the ignition without me plugging in anything is indispensable. Even more so in iOS 10, whereby Siri knows my commute, warns of traffic, and tells me where i last parked.

Ford Sync has a really bad reputation here and is almost universally panned as unusable.

The ranking is iDrive>MMI/Discover>InControl>everything else.

Sync 3 is a huge upgrade over the older MS based Sync systems, in fact, it uses QNX like some of the other systems you mentioned. It's high resolution, has a 1.7GHz dual core, capacitive touch, an app extension API, etc.

MY16 cars with Sync 3 were supposed to get AA/CP, it's been pushed back again and again, then the MY17 came out with Sync3 V2.x and AA/CP right off the showroom floor. Anyway, since Ford hasn't responded, some clever folks have figured out how to DIY this update :D

BT Streaming? Is that BT's method of not counting against mobile data? Spotify Premium killed my need to buy music.

No its just Bluetooth streaming. If you make your playlists available offline then you don't need data for playback which is what i do. Just stream whats stored on your phone via Bluetooth.

I never even use the offline listening for that. I'm going to try that on Monday. And for our resident Audi addict... There was a GT3 video but it looked messy. No wagon or Range Rover videos for Golden, though.

Hahaha, short day at school for the little G, so we picked her up for a lunch treat, went to this terrific BBQ joint in the old city. A field trip was coming in to eat ... some of the kids stopped to take pics in from of my car :D

@D.T. , I expect one of these in your driveway for the 2017 DCoA board meeting.

Stunning car

Speaking of ... I guess there's still not an official set of specs yet, huh? No final HP/TQ, weight, etc.

A couple of folks got their modules and they work! Very cool, I love a little community collaboration to get around a company dragging its feet. As expected the dual port USB module disables the front port, however, both ports do work! Another guy just had his single USB port module ship, and that one has a return connector for the front port.

(I suggested to the dual port folks they could _probably_ run an adapter cable from one of the two ports to the front cable if they really wanted it active)

I just learned how to turn off the AC on my ES350 this past weekend. I had to click menu button and then select the climate icon on the screen, then select the three little dots on the bottom right the screen. Then you will be about turn off the AC function, so that you can then use the heater function. I'm happy, I learned that. :D

Hence why I said yet. You won't be seeing 20% off + just yet. Maybe in June or so if supply continues to grow.

I would wait until Feb/Mar, go to the lot and pick out one that best meets your needs/wants, write the check and go.
You will probably get somewhere in the neighborhhood of 30-35% off msrp. My opinion, and I know you didn't ask for it, but do not special order a camaro anytime soon, you will pay way way too much.

Some new car dealers are including lifetime powertrain warranties on their new car sales. This is worthless to me because I'm not using the dealer for service, especially oil changes. Nor do I want to get pre-authorization every time I want to get my car serviced elsewhere.

Since these are typically outside warranty companies behind these, how much does the dealer have to add to the price of a car in order to include this "free offer"?

APR has a sale going, so guess I'll throw caution into the wind. Going to call up my local shop to get the stage 1 tune for my S3. I really think it's the only thing I want. Maybe TCU tune after warranty is up. We'll see. Also picked up some LED interior bulbs to install. So far really liking this car. I was worried it was too similar to my outgoing Golf R, but the more time I've spent in it, I can really see the additional differences.
