Ugh, they still don't know for me...
At this point, it might be easier to find some nice Russians and give them the keys and tell them to export it. Don't follow my advice, obviously. I think you missed why I was and am still upset. Sometime in 2017 can mean anything. In hind sight, it does make you feel somewhat of a badass knowing your face may be blown to smithereens any second while driving, and that you're riding a fine line between safety and death.
[doublepost=1481303366][/doublepost]...and as you drive, the sweet lyrics to Kenny Login's Danger Zone plays blissfully over your premium sound system and you grind your teeth knowing you want to punch the CEO of Takata's face in until it's unrecognizable.

Another accessory I am contemplating is the ZL1addons front license plate bracket. It uses the front tow hook receiver instead of having to drill into the front bumper to mount a bracket that way. Issue is, if I am going to have the front end looks ruined by the damn license plate, would prefer it to be centered on the front. Will probably pick it up due the ease of install, not having to have holes drilled, etc and make the sacrifice of aesthetics.

That looks good! Didn't the Lancer Evolutions here have a special plate area at the corner of the center inlet?

Yeah I have seen Evo's with off center front license plates.

There are two things I am going to tell/request the dealer not to do to my car when it comes in. First, don't drill the holes in the front bumper and second, don't put their dealer badge on the trunk of the car. Dealer rear license plate frame is fine, but I am not a fan of the dealers badge they put on the trunk.

Are dealer badges that common? If the bumper is anything like what I've seen on new cars, the holes are already there. They resemble a small dot on the bumper and dip in the center. The dealer simply forced the screw in and it goes through the thinner plastic portion. At least that's what I've seen with a lot of cars.

My dealers badge is the stick on types, no screws or holes drilled. I just hope they don't do a typical dealer response of, " yeah no problem!" then put it on anyway ( or just plain old forget to pass it on) when they PDI the vehicle.

It just ruins the look of the rear end....

I refuse to accept dealer labels on my cars. They can take it off or I'll take my business elsewhere
[doublepost=1481329381][/doublepost]Also...

Bought my car a few years ago, and had to ask the dealer to remove all stickers, AND, that stupid holder for the license plate. I've already paid for my car (or will do, over the coming years), there is no need for ME to ADVERTISE for YOU, the dealer :(

One of the things that I'm beginning to appreciate about effectively having a bespoke vehicle for my next major car purchase(the MGA) is that I get to specify EVERYTHING about it.

Forget dealer badges and the like-if I say "move the passenger side view mirror back 2" from stock" it gets done. "Don't put an antenna on it because I want a radio" and there's no antenna hole :)

With that said, the shop doing it is not well know but is good enough that they SHOULD be. I want them to put a discrete badge/marker on it to show who did the work.

I can't afford a true bespoke car, so this is turning out to be a really fun and totally different experience for me.

BTW, as for the airbag fiasco-I'm supposed to be buying my dad's MKZ sometime soon but the insurance company is giving me some friction over the active recall on it. They'd originally said December, but now they're saying March.

This is ridiculously tempting right now. Good value for a turbo in-line 6, RWD hot hatch.

But...must....resist...

No, just a image of what it looks like. I'll be ordering my Camaro in 2-3 months. I love Hyper Blue too, but two factors against it. First, I am concerned about the long term of me liking the color. I love the color now, but will I get tired of it in 5 years? Second, I do want to blend in as much as possible and don't want to stand out. I just want to be able to drive and enjoy my car. I don't want idiots revving their engines at me trying to street race, stay under a cops radar as much as possible, etc. I am leaning towards nightfall gray metallic.

(Again not my car and would have the stock wheels)

I would wait at least 4 months to buy, and buy off the lot, not special order. These things are cheap and will be getting cheaper in the next few months. They are not selling , GM just does not get it!

Outstanding! Simple install, about 30m as previously predicted :) The only sort of "non-documented" consideration was a sensor line on the AC, just removed it from the chassis fastener, slid that down and pushed it into another harness.

The radiator stay replacement, the shroud is off to the reach the fastenters

IMG_3690.JPG

The factory PCV line, basically out and back in (yuck)

IMG_3100.JPG

(didn't realize I had uploaded this photo but not posted it ...) this is the catch can before it was mounted to the bracket - you can see the size, and how the top circular protrusion is designed to mount in the hole in the bracket.

IMG_7438.JPG

The new lines, shroud on, can mounted. The hoses are perfectly angled/bent, plus they're super flexible so easy to manage.

IMG_0661.JPG

Everything finished up with the engine cover back on.

[doublepost=1481390660][/doublepost]Bonus photo - if it wasn't apparent, my OEM hood support is gone (makes it SO much easier to work), it was replaced with these (shot it from the rear/side as they're generally hard to see)

I know I probably could get a better deal buying an off the lot car, but I don't mind paying a bit more to get the car exactly the way I want it, low miles( not test driven, etc), and hasn't been sitting on the lot for months getting rained on without a wash, etc( those are the types that get tagged for the most deals). I am very particular with my cars( if you haven't been following my posts here about it :p). Most dealers order the Camaro's with sunroof's and I don't want a sunroof.

So much for the dressing like a high schooler comments in this thread :p :)

(D.T. You know I love you just the way you are)

I thought it was a compliment, most people say I have the personality of a middle schooler :D
[doublepost=1481390930][/doublepost]Ugh, got to do something about that overflow tank ...

Also, while I was looking for a small hex key in my tool chest, I found the original window sticker for our '04 X5 4.4i

Those HRE wheels or am I seeing the emblem incorrectly?

You are correct sir! Note the very visible HRE tent where the car is parked (it appears to be an HRE "booth" at an event).

Speaking of wheels, wow, have I been through a _bunch_. I stumbled on these photos the other day (during a cleanup sweep on a server I haven't had on for years). This was a set of iForged, 3-piece Trials, 20" with custom offsets, special order ARP fasteners, matt PC'ed centers with polished lips.

Hahaha, never installed them :D Check out the lip on these (note the CCW track wheel on the car in the background, 345 on the rear :D)

Those HRE wheels or am I seeing the emblem incorrectly? Finally got an update for the airbag situation on the GL. "Sometime in 2017." Never have I wanted to strangle a person over the phone so much in my life as I did yesterday.
I'm telling you it'll never happen. The goal of expensive recalls on older cars is to stall as long as possible to avoid having to pay out. They expect either you will forget or you'll sell the car (or it will be totaled or junked).

. second, don't put their dealer badge on the trunk of the car.
My parents have always made dealers either not put their stickers on the car or to remove them. I agree, it ruins the paint job eventually. My mom had the "Lexus of Greenwich" frames removed from her Lexus as she thought it was too pretentious. At the same time the "BMW of Bridgeport" frames were too ghetto.

Also, while I was looking for a small hex key in my tool chest, I found the original window sticker for our '04 X5 4.4i
I miss the old X5's. They were beautiful rigs. The new ones are too cow like- big and cumbersome looking. Not to mention 75% of them have those hideous xline wheels that look like something off a Subaru CrossTrek.

New Jersey dealer, right? How much were they asking, around 370K?

True, but never say never. The Lexus is due into the shop the first week of January, but if they get any canceled appointments in the next 3 weeks, it may be sooner based on who's next in line. Hopefully I get decent loaner. If they offer a C200h, I'll hire an Uber to get back home and then use my car to get around town until the Lexus is done with.

Ugh. I didn't realize Lexus even carried the CT200. I remember one time my mom has an HS loaner back when she had a Lexus, but all the other times it was either an RX or ES.

I never understood why some dealers hand out the biggest POS loaners ever. Back when my mom had her A6 Allroad (mind you a $50,000 car in 2001), they'd hand out base Jettas as loaners- not even passats. I don't remember if it was my 03 Grand Cherokee Limited (purchased CPO for ~$35k) or my sisters very new at the time 07 Grand Cherokee Overland (purchased new for $45k- both cars purchased within 4 years) that went in for service where the dealer gave us a Dodge Caliper.

Honestly giving a loaner at a dealer is way of marketing products and encouraging future sales. A Dodge Caliper isn't exactly C/D/J's best product. At least they had the courtesy to vacuum and wash the car unlike the Audi dealer.

There was also my Dad's P38 Range Rover that spent more time in the shop than on the road, so usually he had a Freelander loaner- the car LR negelected to put cupholders in.

I remember when my Dad had an E300 TurboDiesel Mercedes he always got a suitable loaner- often even nicer cars than the E (one time I recall an SL) BMW has usually been good about quality loaners, but frankly even at the lowest trims the 3-series is a pretty solid car and the X1 isn't bad either.

They do give out RX and ES models. I suspect I'll get stuck with a C200h because people typically take their car in at the year's end for servicing.

BMW is fairy respectable in terms of what loaners they give out. I can't comment on ever dealership, but the ones here will often lend out a higher specced car than the one you brought in in the hopes of enticing a trade up.

This was in Massachusetts. Porsche of Westwood. Already sold at MSRP.

One of 3 Rs the dealer has gotten so far.

MSRP was $224k I think?

Fairly cheap, what gives? I know the white with green stripes is rare and commends a higher price, but I'd though yellow with green was rarer. Pretty sure I came across or you posted a listing of a 911R going for over half a million.

My buddy's RS3 was in the shop recently (squeaky Carbon Ceramics) and his loaner car was a base (bottom barrel) A3. This thing didn't even have AC or Nav, and was manual (Audi manuals are subpar to put it mildly, probably only beat by Merc manuals which are just disgusting).

And to add insult, it was covered in dealership stickers...along the front and rear doors, back window etc. We thought an Audi employee was on the premises when we saw it in the car park.

Worst thing is, they didn't fix the issue. The back and forth continues...

Incidentally, another friend who just got a fully loaded A4 is having issues with the Virtual Cockpit.

I must be missing something here. CCBs will always squeak unless they're up to temperature which requires hard braking for continuous periods of time.

I think this one had all the options. The yellow color + stripes are special order PTS options.

Out of the 991 Rs being made, I think only around ~50 were able to be ordered with PTS.

Pretty sure I came across or you posted a listing of a 911R going for over half a million.

Oh yeah, I think those were flippers trying to make some $$$. The 918 owners all pay MSRP for the cars, but they're commanding 2-3x of MSRP already.

And that's what kills the value? I think we had this discussion two months ago about 911 colors. I imagine if the PTS was the purple in the GT3 RS, you could ask for a really high price and get it.

But they sold. I remember because I scoffed at the sales price. If you're paying that much, just get a 911TS. It's not a 911R, but you get more car. I realize the 911R is very special in its own way, but still, it makes you think of using money a bit more wisely.
