That color's very nice. Don't see many yellow sports cars these days. Shame too.

Yeah, you really don't. I mostly see all shades of red, black with sport stripes, white with custom colored rims, etc.

This yellow isn't quite screaming out either. It seems a tad bit more pastel than the yellow I do see occasionally on the road.

Probably because a lot of brands don't offer it. Green isn't offered by a lot of car companies either. With the Germans, you need to purchase a custom paint scheme option that can add thousands. The shade reminds me of the yellow BMW offered back in the day for their E36 M3s for the US market. About 30-35 years ago, Merc offered a really nice drab yellow. Very light, almost milky. It was a very pretty color for the time.

Yeah, I tend to prefer certain more demure hues. Like I enjoy the sky blue of the older Mustang rather than the blue offered now.

I think the only green car (New model) I've seen over the last few years here in Texas has been the Mazda 2. There are likely others but I haven't seen them. Now motorcycles, that's a different story.

Mazda 2? Do you mean 3? The Austin car scene is a bit nutty. Saw about 10 Ferraris the last time I was there. All on the same day among other high end sports cars. Don't see that outside of SoCal or other typical areas to see those vehicles. There's Vancouver, but that's an iffy city and the cars are owned by kids who can't drive if their life depended on it.

I don't like Austin. I stay in San Antonio or I head to Corpus Christi. Austin has this weird California vibe which for a girl who likes electronics and cars but not makeup and jewelry, I'm a bit of a standout.

Edit: The Mazda 2 is horrifically like driving a fully bodied lawnmower. They even lowered the horsepower and torque in the newest 2016 model. As if it wasn't bad enough when I test drove it in 2013.

I don't think I've seen one of those before. Mazdas aren't very popular here for some reason. The most common of them I have seen are the Mazda 3 hatch and the Miata. I've yet to see the new CX-9 in the wild. Decent SUV that can play with the Pilot and the Highlander. Better looking interior and exterior, not so hot on resale value.

Even here there aren't many Mazda 2. They are terrible. They have extremely loud whiney passing gears, they sound like the fat lady at the opera when going up the hill. It's quite nervewracking. I don't like the Ford Fiesta either. It had a not so good horsepower to torque so it was kind of hesitant to get up on it (This was the '13, that was the year I was looking for a new car). I knew I wanted a hatchback and I really wanted a coupe. That's harder to find here in the US than say, Europe.

Finally found the Yaris and it handled these mole hills here in Texas quite well. Of course I'm constantly bobbing and weaving in a sea of F-250/F-350, Tundra, Titan, Chevy Sierra (Old) or Silverado, Dodge something or another, that try to run me over constantly.

2018 Mustang has been leaked..... Can't say it looks like a Fusion anymore.....

eww.

i had high hopes for an extensive sheet metal rework in front of the cowl because of how polarizing the front end was and still is, and we get this? do not like at all

That's one of the peculiar things I notice in other states. Small, compact cars. It reminds me of the time I've spent in Europe. Apart from a couple of slow cars, I can't remember the last time I had anything with less than 300 HP. I think the next "in" feature cars will have in 8-10 years will be rear steering or better torque vectoring. There's compact cars out there with atrocious turning radius. Japanese cars fell victims to this up until the late 2000s, but some cars still suffer from bad turning. I've always been impressed with the E39's despite its size.

Edit: Did some reading. I wonder if the '18 color choice for Crimson Red is darker than Ruby Red. It would look gorgeous.

As the previous owner of a yellow car, it's is a fun color, if it's the _right_ shade, you know something that's bright, enough red to not be a pastel color (but not tipping into orange) ... and you have to really be ready for yellow :D

A downside - especially here in Florida - yellow is a Hertz rental car color :D

Yeah, geez, I think that's a step in the wrong direction, I mean, I guess they're picking up some design elements of the Ford GT (hahaha, the short version got picked up by the profanity parser), but I'm also getting a little too much Lexamaro :D

I wouldn't say the original front end was polarizing. Just criticized for looking too much like the Fusion.

But yeah definitely not liking the revised front end or that spoiler( though the Camaro SS has a similar ugly spoiler).

NEW FORD MUSTANG OFFERS SLEEKER DESIGN, MORE ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY AND IMPROVED PERFORMANCE

Sleeker design: New Mustang features a more athletic look, with new front and rear-end design that deliver a leaner and meaner look and refined aerodynamics
More advanced technology: New Mustang technologies include a 12-inch all-digital instrument cluster that you can customize your way, MyMode with memory function that remembers your driving preferences for the next time you drive, and new driver-assist features such as Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection for increased confidence behind the wheel
Improved Performance: Powerful engine upgrades, plus an all-new available 10-speed automatic transmission give Mustang even more performance, while available MagneRide™ suspension offers optimum handling; optional active valve exhaust affords complete auditory control – let the engine roar, or not

LOS ANGELES, Calif., Jan. 17, 2017 – Today, Ford partnered with its ambassador of Service, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, to introduce the new Mustang – the world’s best-selling sports coupe and the company’s most advanced Mustang ever.

A host of improvements including new technology and design changes give owners ways to customize Mustang to their preferences, even better performance from more powerful engines and new MagneRide™ suspension technology. Customers have more ways than ever to personalize Mustang to make it their own, with three new paint colors, 12 distinct wheel choices and a customizable digital instrument cluster.

“The new Mustang is our best ever, based on more than 50 years as one of the iconic sports car in America and now, the world,” said Joe Hinrichs, president of The Americas. “Tapping Mustang’s enormous fan base, we’re bringing the new Mustang straight to the people – and introducing the new car across multiple social media channels, reaching millions.”

Ford tapped Johnson to reveal the new Mustang to the world by giving one of the first models available to a deserving member of the military. A video of the debut was launched on Johnson’s social channels, including Youtube, Instagram and Facebook, where Mustang holds the title for the most-popular car with more than 8.4 million ‘likes.’

Technology for greater personalization
Mustang makes available Ford’s first 12-inch all-digital LCD screen in the dashboard. This all-new customizable instrument cluster can be easily personalized, offering three separate views. Customers can personalize the displays for normal, sport and track mode. All-new Mustang MyMode with memory function allows customers to save their favorite drive settings, including suspension and steering preferences.

The new Mustang is so customizable that even its engine note can be adjusted. Delivering an audible experience like never before, an all-new active valve exhaust system is optional on Mustang GT, with a fully variable soundtrack to match the entire acceleration range.

For the first time, Mustang benefits from a vast array of Ford driver-assist technology. Customers can feel more confident than ever behind the wheel with new features like Pre-Collision Assist with pedestrian detection, distance alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist and Driver Alert System.

Ford SYNC® Connect with FordPass™ is available on Mustang for the first time. When using the FordPass® app for smartphones, drivers can start, lock, unlock and locate their car for ultimate convenience.

Ultimate performance
Performance is at the core of Mustang DNA, offering drivers a unique thrill of acceleration and cornering for the ultimate fun-to-drive experience. On all models, new shock absorbers make for better ride control, a new cross-axis joint in the rear suspension leads to increased lateral stiffness, and innovative stabilizer bars bring sharper response and handling.

MagneRide damper technology is a new option with the Mustang Performance Package to optimize ride and handling in all situations.

The proven 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine continues to offer outstanding performance advantages versus the outgoing 3.7-liter V6. Using Ford’s transient overboost technology uniquely calibrated for Mustang, torque is increased for wide-open throttle acceleration.

Ford’s legendary 5.0-liter V8 engine has been thoroughly reworked. It is more powerful and revs higher than any Mustang GT before. This power increase was achieved with the first application for Mustang of Ford’s new dual-fuel, high-pressure direct injection and low-pressure port fuel injection on a V8 engine – delivering robust low-end torque, high-rpm power, and improved fuel efficiency.

The manual transmission for both engine options has been upgraded for optimal torque. For the V8, the manual transmission has been totally redesigned to include a twin-disc clutch and dual-mass flywheel to increase torque capability and deliver more efficient clutch modulation.

A new 10-speed automatic transmission, available with both EcoBoost and V8 engines, is the best automatic Mustang has ever offered. With a wide-ratio span and optimized gear spacing, this all-new gearbox helps deliver higher average power for acceleration – improving responsiveness and performance.

Compared to the previous six-speed, the new 10-speed transmission has quicker shift times, better low-speed tip-in response and significantly reduced friction losses. The all-new electronic control system includes unique tunes for different drive modes and features real-time adaptive shift scheduling to ensure the right gear at the right time. Steering wheel-mounted shift paddles allow drivers maximum manual control.

Energy in the design
Overall, the car’s exterior design is now more athletic, with a lower, remodeled hood and grille that deliver a leaner look and refined aerodynamics, upper and lower front grilles, and a new position for hood vents. For the first time the entire Mustang line will feature all-LED front lights including signature lighting, low-beams, turn signals, efficient projector high-beams and available fog lamps.

The rear of the car gets revised LED taillamps for a more technical look, plus a new bumper, fascia and available performance spoiler. Dual-tip exhaust is standard for EcoBoost® Mustang, while V8-powered Mustang GT gets a standard quad-tip exhaust.

With a dozen available alloy wheel designs and fresh exterior color choices – including all-new signature Orange Fury – enthusiasts can order a Mustang with the look they’re after.

Improved touch points and visual cues with a more premium look and feel characterize the new cockpit. The center console adds a new hand-stitched wrap with contrast stitching and padded knee bolsters while door handles, rings and bezels are finished in aluminum. Restyled seating surfaces feature new patterns and color choices, the instrument panel sports an updated Mustang badge and there’s a new key fob design. A heated steering wheel is optional.
Ford’s most advanced Mustang ever goes on sale in North America this fall.

Really not feeling the body, but the mechanical/tech upgrades are awesome.

It's growing on me a bit, but yeah, the updates outside of the exterior design sound pretty terrific. Plus, I'm seeing some changes that look like they'll be able to be retrofitted on 15-17s!

Yeah definitely wasn't expecting the virtual cockpit or active exhaust.

I bet when I see it in person in the right color and with the right options I'll like it a bit more.

Was expecting the MagnaRide and active exhaust to trickle down from the GT350. The LCD instrument cluster is a nice touch.

Overall, I am expecting 465 HP out of the Coyote and with that 10 speed, should make the performance very close to the SS now at least in the straight line.

Competition is great.

Yeah, 465HP seems like a good, attainable target, maybe 415TQ, a bit more down low - with the apparent redline bumped(some sources are saying 7400!), plus DI and the increased compression that's well within reason (while also retaining or even slightly increasing MPG).

I am also curious on what these goodies will do to the price of the Mustang. They essentially made the current PP standard on the GT while adding the magnaride, active exhaust, and the PS4's as a new PP. I don't see the Mustang GT base price remaining where it is. But I don't think it will be as high as if you spec'd out a GT with PP today. So I am anticipating somewhere in the middle with the PP being more expensive than it is today. So the price difference between the GT and SS I expect will decrease.

Same with the entire range actually now that the rental special V6 'Stang has been killed.

ok its starting to look better:

Guess I'd be ordering it spoiler delete, if you can (I know I could when I bought my '14)

As I understand it, the PP isn't standard on the base GT, some components of the PP, specifically, the swaybars/shocks/springs - at the OEM level, those are almost a straight swap, adding very little to the cost.

The mag suspension is an option, available on the PP package - the latter should still have the additional PP upgrades over the standard car including the larger brakes, bigger radiator, different rear end, different electronic, calibration, etc. You may be right about the active exhaust, but it may still simply be an option to both standard and PP cars (vs. part of the new PP package).

You're definitely right about the peak price with a fully optioned car, now that some of the options are not mutually exclusive (like before, no PP on an automatic). You could potentially build:

Mustang with Premium Package
Sync3 / Nav / Shaker
LCD dash (this is apparently an option, though it might be standard in the Premium)
Perf Package
10-Speed automatic
Active Exhaust
Mag Suspension
Recaro seats
and even add things like stripes, looks like maybe some additional wheel options, yeah, that's getting up there!

(like before, no PP on an automatic).

They really gotta change this, this was probably the final nail in the coffin for me buying a '14 over a '15. Just because I have an auto doesn't mean I don't want the Brembos and the other goodies.
