Have you considered ceramic pads? I put Akebono ceramics on my 330i and while I've the lost initial bite of semi-metallics, they hardly even dust.

I can't speak for sedans, but I've heard enough horror stories of using them on a large, heavy SUV. I opted for ceramic pads on my wife's car. Less dust, but still plenty of dust. As I said, I can't speak for all sedans. Even with lots of dust left, it's less than typical pads. Either that or my wife doesn't brake as much as I hope she does. Dealer offers it as an option. I will not be going for the full carbon ceramic option with my next car purchase. I don't brake enough to generate the heat to be at optimum performance, and the replacement cost should all four need to be done along with pads is a big number to swallow. Even if you're someone willing to spend big money. Most Porsche owners seem to get the CCB option for their higher end 911 and then have them swapped out for steel and then replace with the CCB when they're getting ready to sell. Some of our work clients are amateur racing enthusiasts. Owning a myriad of exotics at that. One regularly destroys his CCBs during regular 2-3 day events. Using the right paint finish solutions, brake dust will very easily fall off the car once you bring a hose to the panel and let the water wash it away. Some of it does find itself into the clear, but claying takes care of that very fast after Iron X'ing it.

We're a good 15-20 years away from CCBs being very economical. The costs involved have dropped considerably over the last 15 years. There is no doubt in my mind that they'll become cheaper by then and possibly standard on a lot of upper segment cars.

As for the dealer, I have no idea what brand of pad it is they use when they offer the ceramic pad as an option. In the time we've had the car, I've yet to spot any OEM rotor damage or warping. Between it and the stock pads, I could never tell the difference in stopping power.

JFC, tires became a chore to track down, an order got cancelled - fortunately my buddies at AM hooked me up, went with Nitto NT555 G2, 305/35-20 in the rear, 285/35-20 in the front, maintains the front-to-rear %, fills in the fender well even a little more, should actually drop the rear ratio a touch, should looks spectacular :D

I hate that so much. Companies don't even bother to email you until end of day. Sometimes they don't even bother to send out a cancellation notice.

They look lovely, but keep away from the curbs!

I know, right? I've had a lot of cars with very low profile tires, really tight fitments (both OEM and aftermarket), and I've _mostly_ managed to avoid damage. Fortunately, I'm not in many bad parking situations in my car, pretty much only nice big open spots - and we have a backup vehicle with the T4R, which can park *anywhere*

Lol. If I'm going anywhere I don't know what the parking situation is I take the wife's car!

Serial Number 1 has rolled off the lot into Elon's garage for the Model 3!

Now the fun really begins for Tesla!

Dang, a buddy of mine went to the Friday night T&T at Gainesville, bolt up BC Paxton Kit, bundled tune, went mid 10s a number of passes with 132 as his best MPH, that's a manual car too (non=PP, but I'm 99% sure he's running 3:55s), and NTT555Rs driven to and from the track.

*nice*

I'm very curious to see how the Model 3 turns out. I still see quality control issues with newer Teslas as opposed to older ones.

Nice? Very nice, you mean.

Yeah, that's pretty brisk :D Not bad for a weekend "bolt on" project from a supercharger kit. I don't think people realize how much MPH plays into the power output - I can always tell the non-CarGuys, they'll ask about 0-60, I mention the car pulls 135 in the 1/4, they just shrug ...

I have had an S going on almost a year and not a single thing wrong with it but reliability concerns run a many on the older models. It seems they are finding a good flow with the S now after 5 years but still some concerns in the X.

The 3 will be the easiest to produce in terms of complexity from the S and X but I expect quality issues from the rushed production and if this car fails, it will sink Tesla.

New Audi A8

I dunno...it just looks even boxier and borderline mundane. Grill is a little excessive. The rear is nice but maybe i'm just infatuated with the lights. And why waste that much real estate on digital climate control. For my imaginary money i'd still take the S-Class...and i'm not even a Merc person.

Oh hell, back ordered _again_, the 305/35 supply (where there's a 285/35 option) has dried up, Nitto G2, BFG Comp2 A/S, Firehawk Indy 500 ...

Re-evaluating the 30 series options. o_O

In my opinion that looks awful from the rear, would take the S-Class any day of the week

I think I prefer the Cadillac CT6 over both. The Mercedes looks like a nightclub inside.

The Cadillac is just stunning IRL. Not to mention, it's supposed to drive like a dream!

Also, don't like the new 7 series. That is just ugly.

Serious? The Cadillac? IMO it looks even worse! Yeah I've never been a fan of the 7 series. Don't know about the drive of the Cadillac, but the S-Class is supposed to be up there with Bentley's and almost at Rolls Royce

It was expected since they rolled out a new full size recently.

Hey now, don't be mean. Some people have different tastes. Nothing says amazing like a retrorod PT Cruiser with flames spitting out of the side exhausts. Now that's badass.

True true apologies, definitely not to my taste. I remember going on holiday to Florida once and the last car in the rental parking lot was a PT cruiser, I refused to take it and waited 45 minutes for someone to return a "normal" car. Ended up with an Infiniti.

Pfft, Infiniti. Rubbish masquerading as premium. Clearly you're not in the "in" of how awesome PT Cruisers are. Very much the "panty dropper" of their time. A throwback to 1930s mob car design. With an interior so basic that a mafioso transported from the '30s to then would have loved it in all its glory.
