Thanks, I have looked at these. My only concern is that they fit a seat with an integrated headrest.

I bought some at a local auto supply store, but they are kind of rough looking, all matted and partially disclolored, which I’ll be returning. The issue with ordering something like this online is expense of return, although I could do for discoloration, but not for not liking them, at least I don’t think so.

My old boss had a Land Rover Discovery, which interestingly had sheepskin seat covers as an OEM accessory. Despite being OEM, they were one peice- which I guess is kind of annoying if you have a manually adjustable headrest- but honestly how often do you adjust that?

I suspect that unless you find a custom fit product you may have to do some trial and error to find something that fits and is of acceptable quality.

It seems sheepskin seat covers went out of favor maybe around the time of carburetors.

Nope, that's base Carrera 2.

This is probably be in the $180-225k range.

The article link is kind of deceiving. Once you see the title of the article for the Porsche 911 Concept, then it shows a price range of $92,000 below that. Once you click on the link, then it leads to the Carrera II. But wow, $180,000 for a possible entry level price is much higher than I would have anticipated, but I know it will deliver Being it carries the Porsche badge.

Spyders and Speedsters are limited runs. It's akin to calling a GT4 just a Cayman.

Head on over to Autogeek and ask them.

It's probably underpriced as far as limited production Porsches go.

For example, 18 months after 911R production ended, they're still trading $150-200k above MSRP.

Asking: $399,988
Original MSRP: $212,935

This one is another (they made a 997 Speedster) throwback to the original 356 (their first car)

Hey AU, do you remember that 911R you linked me to about a year or more ago in the Boston area going for north of 600K? Did that ever sell?

The 1956 Speedster is just awesome. You can just see the craftsmanship and detail with how certain traits have trickled into their line up even today.

Yes, I meant trim level. The 2SS gets you a hell of a car for a very good price.

Yeah it is a hell of a car for the price. 0-60 in 3.9 secs, 1/4 in ~12.4 secs, handles like a dream, decent interior, and has all the features I wanted( HUD, heated leather seats, etc). I probably would have been happy with the 1SS if I could have done the heated leather seats and HUD in that trim level, but no regrets with the 2SS.

Yeah, if crap goes south politically (This is not the thread to discuss that), I have it pretty high on my list. My heart is set on a Corvette but realistically the Camaro is a lot more car for the money.

The 2SS trim is amazingly well equipped for the $42,000ish price tag

Yeah my first choice would definitely would have been a C7 Z51 as I always loved Corvette’s and I love the looks of the Stingray. But that was outside of my budget as I did not want a used one. But the Camaro is not a compromise at all. I don’t feel like I compromised with the Camaro and wish I could have gotten the ‘Vette.

Heck the Alpha platform is probably more refined and composed compared to the Y-Body. A lot of reviews have stated the ZL1 and CTS-V are easier to control at the limit and able to effectively use the 650 HP. Where the Z06 is a lot more wild and has a harder time putting the LT4’s power to the wheels. But then again that has always been a trait of the ‘Vette of being a bit wild at the limit. Though the regular C7 seems to be tamer.

Though I’m sorry you will have to deal with the horrible refresh of the Camaro in 2019. But either the 10 speed or Tremec 6060, you will love. I wish I could have dealt with rush hour traffic with a stick because I had a blast driving the stick in the Camaro especially with auto rev match turned on.

The price on a used Z51 2LT is tempting for sure. Costco Autos has some decent prices on a Z51 vette as well.

My old man is good friends with a used car manager at a Chevy dealership in Illinois. If the price is right, I would use my miles to fly up there, pick up the car, and drive back to Texas. That would be the dream for sure. The drive from Illinois to Texas is so easy and I could really cruise in a vette

Out of curiosity, how many times have you been close to "the limit" in your Camaro?

Out of curiosity, why do you care how many times I have personally taken the Camaro to the limit based on my observation of professional reviews of how the Alpha platform seems more composed than the Y-Body at the limit? Whether Austin or I have the intention of taking the Camaro or Corvette to the track and push them to the limits has no relevance in my point of the performance capabilities of the two cars.

It's always funny hearing people talking about porsche and Mercedes outside of my hometown :D
I come from Stuttgart where both companies where founded and here you almost see 10 Porsches everyday and even more mercedes cars. It#s like normal cars arround here. When i hear other people talking they seem to see them on a level with lamborgini and such (or even higher because of build Quality) while those cars seem rather special to me :D

I ask because that's a statistic that honestly has no relevance for 99.9% of folks, and if you're getting there on the street you deserve to be in jail.

Also "at the limit" is kind of vague. If I assume that it's referring to how predictably it loses traction-there again you belong in jail if you're driving in a way that you're regularly doing that on the street. If you're in a place where you can actually do that legally, I would just about guarantee that Corvette with slicks would be more predictable than a Camaro with street tires, or a Corvette with summer tires vs. a Camaro w/all seasons.

Plus, even if the Camaro can corner a tiny bit faster, I'd still put money on a Corvette giving better lap times with all else being equal.

Of course if anyone is pulling crap like that on the street they deserve to be in jail.

And why handicap the Camaro with inferior tires? Both run summers from the factory. But I also don't doubt the Corvette with the same skilled driver will be faster. It is the lighter car with more tire after all and it doesn't handle like crap either. Just it seems like the Alpha platform is easier to control compared to the Corvette.

I would agree the SS is a lot of car for the money. I think the Camaro is one of those cars I don’t see frequently in my city a lot, I think mainly because of the higher price point and they just don’t have the popularity the Mustang does in terms of pony cars. But I think the 2016/2017 Camaro SS was nicely executed with the exterior finish, but the interior is questionable in terms of the design (*A lot* of strange shapes and odd bulbous design patterns that look out of place). I have not driven the Camaro SS, but it is something that I really would like to do. The only thing that I read was the 10 speed auto sometimes can get “Confused” on Which Gear to select, which is shaky a experience and others have said Magnetic Ride control is disabled or they find it utterly Useless.

But as far as the 2019 refresh, absolutely horrible in terms of what the front facia looks like. It looks unnecessarily wide and blocky, the LED rope lights are awkward. Its just plain obtuse. And I don’t understand why they had to make it look like a Chevy Cruz from the front. I mentioned it before, sometimes I think engineer teams feel that they need to go completely overboard with a refresh and all they need to do is make small minor tweaks, like the 2018 mustang GT did (And the latest leaked Scat Pack looks to be minor from the outward experience). But That’s not to say it’s a ‘bad’ car, it’s just not my preference of a refresh or poorly executed if you will.

But truthfully, if I had my selection of a car in the GM lineup, it would be the Chevy SS sedan over the Camaro SS. (But only if I could find the SS sedan in a Manual, which is near impossible in my area.)

I have read in some reviews that the 10 speed in Ford's application in the Mustang GT can be confused on which gear, but nothing about the 10 speed implementation in the ZL1. Keep in mind its all about the programing. The ZF 8 speed is regarded as one of the best if not the best torque converter automatic out there, but in FCA applications for instance reviewers have not liked it much. Where in BMW's they love it.

And what you mean by MRC is disabled?

Where did you read that or have you heard that?

Here is one from C&D.

Too bad the 10-speed fumbled shifts at times when transitioning between chill and thrill driving styles, especially when used in the S—for Sport—position paired with Sport+ or Track drive modes.

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2018-ford-mustang-in-depth-review-engine-and-transmission

Don't get me wrong the general consensus of the 10 speed in either GM or Ford implementation is that they are awesome transmissions. I just recollected some reviewers saying it could get confused with the way Ford implemented it, but not GM. I could be wrong.

I drove the 2018 GT not long ago and I did think the 10 speed auto was ‘different’ with the shifting, but I did not spend enough time to make a fair judgment based off of it. From everything I have read, it’s been completely stellar with the reception with new 10 speed over the six speed Auto used prior. But being I would opt for manual, I really don’t have any interest in a 10 speed as a future consideration, Even though I think it’s great that GM and Ford collaborated together on this transmission.

I Just want to comment on the Camaro on a side-note. I know the Camaro is knocked hard at times For aesthetics/styling cues or some claim it’s “Not popular”, “It’s too expensive” but of course all that is subjective and anyone could interject whatever they want about any car for that matter.

Not To make this a Mustang versus Camaro comparison, [Even though I am a Mustang GT owner], I think the reason the Mustang has such extreme loyalty (Aside from the heritage) and overall popularity is because of all the aftermarket sources. I actually didn’t even realize how large this industry is until I start researching parts when I purchased my GT back in December. There are so many different vendors and avenues one can take a completely stock Mustang and create their own entity to separate it from everybody else’s, because there is that many options for parts, exterior/interior customization, engine/suspension, wheels, etc.

Just to use a small metric of the aftermarket consideration, I don’t think I have ever encountered a Mustang completely stock without having _some_ form of modification, albeit minor or major. And being that I have my modified most of my performance cars, once you modify one part of the car, it’s literally a chain reaction where you start to build off that modification to other parts of the car, rather it be performance or aesthetics. Point is, that I think every muscle car owner, rather be a Camaro, Mustang, Hellcat, All those owners want to make their car “Their own” by altering or changing something to alter the identity of the vehicle, and I don’t think there really is any other brand that competes with the Mustang in terms of the aftermarket Source (I.e CJ’s, LMR, A.M., M.D, M.U- The list literally doesn’t stop. )

For the record, a muscle car doesn’t need to be modified in order to enjoy it for what it is, all that matters is the owner is completely content with it. Some choose not to modify their cars and others do in either minor or extreme measures.
