Yep. Love the C6 and C7. The C7 was the Corvette that finally got younger people to buy brand new. Can't wait for the mystery C8. Think @D.T. said he's owned about four of them over the years.

Yeah the C7 was such a transformation for the car. Finally moving on from the general looks of the C4/C5 and finally a decent interior/seats. I know they opened a huge can of worms ditching the round taillights, but I think that was one of the best moves they did.

I can say with no biases that people will find a reason to bitch about just anything when it comes to cars.

I too park away from others whenever conditions permit, whether it’s my personal car or company car, to avoid door dings. Whenever someone with a nice or nicer ride parks near me, I assume they are simply doing so for the same reasons I do.

And if there’s no other space available, I’ll always park near a nicer car because I figure the person driving that car is less likely to ding mine, and I’d hope they’d assume the same of me.

Well said. I’m _very_ particular about my cars and I always have been. I take pride in detailing, maintaining and I understand things happen, but if it can be prevented from where I park next to someone that could potentially (Or accidentally) hit my car with their car, I try to avoid that.

I have been fortunate where I have never experienced a door ding as of yet, All My cars are nice, however if they were not, then I likely wouldn’t care as much. But part of me not having any issues with parking so far away , is I’m not concerned about walking an extra few hundred yards to a building. And I never have to squabble like some do to find that ‘Premier’ parking spot up front. I gladly will park no where near anyone.

What was funny about that picture I posted of the Porsche that parked near me, I was nowhere near anyone in the lot (It was a stadium lot, its massive) and they chose to park their car all the way out by my Mustang likely just to indicate “Look, This is what I Drive.” But I can appreciate another fellow car owner who wants his ride away from others, even if it wasn’t a fellow GT owner. :D

Edit: Also, @Matz. At the gas station yesterday I saw a Dodge charger scat pack in *Go mango*. The color was just awesome. I have always said it, Dodge has some of the best color schemes offered for the Charger.

[This wasn’t the exact car yesterday, but the exact color.]

Is this the Raptor with the small 4 cyl. engine they plan on introducing?.

That was just a generic picture I copied of the Raptor to show the badging I was indicating in my last post. I’m assuming it was the 3.5 TT Ecoboost.

I see plenty of C7's around in my area. Heck I see more C7's than I see 6th gen Camaro's.

Bigger point though is local area observation is anecdotal evidence and doesn't necessarily point to something of fact.
I work in an office with 800 people and there are about 6 C7's in my garage. There are a bunch of Camaros, too. Texas values the V8's.

I am honestly considering adding one. The Corvette is an American icon. And I live in the part of the country where it makes sense to own one, too.

Of the 800 employees how many drive trucks? I always associated Texas with trucks for some reason

I considered a Corvette but it wouldn't fit my lifestyle as a primary vehicle. If I got a Corvette I would still have to get an SUV and since I don't drive my POV that often it would be a waste

Oh man, like 200+ trucks. It's ridiculous. And if I went vette, i'd go used for fear I decide I just can't live with it.

I figured there would have to be trucks in Texas! I too would probably get a used Vette since it wouldn't get used much. That is the pro and con of having an agency issued g ride

The thing about a Vette, though, is you have to worry about speed bumps, steep parking lot exits, and all sorts of things sedans don't need to worry about

Yeah, Florida / the Southeast is pretty dense (*rimshot*) with Corvettes, weather + target demographic I imagine contributes a bit. [Like you] I see more C7s than 6G Camaro, and more/as many than GT model Mustangs.

I associate Texas with horses. But not very practical for work!

One thing appears certain based on your past posts, Chevy is it, rather it be the Corvette or Camaro when your lease ends (I know you mentioned have while remaining on your lease). However, Both are great choices, but in terms of you having a daily driver, I don’t see how the Corvette would be practical in your scenario (Even though its possible), as you mentioned speed bumps, steep parking lot exits considering the ride height of the Corvette. That’s how my city is, lots of speed bumps, parking garages with inclines, potholes, etc. We have horrible infrastructure in our city and roadways are usually problematic after the winter time. Even though I could daily drive both of my cars, I choose not to, as I don’t daily Drive anything except my work vehicle. :D

More than anything, I’m curious to see what your thoughts are if you have the opportunity to test drive a Camaro SS and see if it’s something that still interests you. I have not driven one yet personally myself. [Maybe Quagmire will let me switch with him for the day with my GT]. If I were to opt for a Camaro, I would likely opt for the 2SS, even though I'm fond of the ZL1.

I know this car is not in your current interest, however Since you mentioned sedans in your post, one sedan that was actually on my list before I purchased my SHO last summer, was the Chevy SS sedan. They are out there, but are becoming more scarce now that they have been officially discontinued by GM, but they (2017 was the last year) have the Corvette motor LS3 6.2 (415 HP), magnetic ride control, heated/cooled seats, remote start, variable exhaust and driving modes, embroidered seats, fully loaded. Automatics are widely more available than manuals are. Still a very nice car for the rarity of a V8 Sedan other than the Charger.

Excellent article on the SS:

The SS is cool. My boss drives one. He really likes it.

I have a pretty long shortlist of things to try, but I'm tempted by American muscle and the current political climate has me concerned Audi will not be a legitimate option next go-round.

That's true

Texas has plenty of horses and trucks. I am trying to get transferred to a field office in Texas but so far I've been unsuccessful

I want an SS and I have been keeping an eye out for a Chevy Caprice 9C3 but the 9C3 is hard to find but the 9C1 is in abundance. You're right V8 sedans are rare

I owned a 2015 Chevy SS Sedan and loved the car. Sold it 2 years ago though due to life changes, but it was no doubt a fun car and a great bargain!

The 9C3 was the detective package from
2011-2014, the 9C1 Patrol Version was from 2014 onward. The 9C3 has an updated dual-zone climate control and touchscreen HVAC system. The 9C3 is way more “domesticated” Over the 9C1 because it didn’t have the all the center console space for patrol version requirements. The 9C3 also had a floor shifter, which changed after 2014. If you find one, I would try to opt for _low_ mileage, request a repair history, follow up on recalls, as they were reported to experience Displacement on Demand/Cam & lifter problems.

In my area, the 9C3/9C1 only was adopted by three agencies, which they quickly retired those units in place of the Utility Explorer. You can find the 9C3 used in government auctions, if you have legal accessibility. Sedans [More specifically the PP Taurus] were falling apart in the L.E. field for necessary space requirements (Leg room), and they just were Not favored compared to the Crown Vic trunk space, although I heard the seats were very comfortable in the 9C3, comparable to the Crown Vic wide plush seats. The Utility Explorer seats are terrible.

Personally, I wouldn’t opt for the 9C3, but if you find one with a documented history in solid condition with not an excessive amount of mileage, its still a decent buy. But just be aware what I mentioned about the mechanicals, as there is ample discussion/reports on this.
