That's how it is with most German manufactures where we can only get the expensive engines and trims and not the lower end variants available in Europe
And for the "French" you're lucky to get some Opels now via Buick (you already got them before but they were not "French").

Will the Buick-Opel partnership continue now that PSA owns Opel? That is why I am hesitant to look at the Buick Regal TourX
They said they would continue sales after 2019. But Opel is transitioning from GM to PSA platforms in brand new models, so I would think it might not apply to those.

It's not an issue. GM will sell the car through its life cycle and keep a supply of parts.
That's true I didn't think of that

Hopefully they maintain a partnership because I do like the new Buick models and PSA has some nice models as well.
Per Wikipedia "Beginning in 2016, PSA began to outline a strategy which entailed the rapid expansion of the company, through both geographic expansion and acquisitions of other car companies. PSA has announced plans to enter the Indian, American, Canadian, ASEAN, and other markets in the coming years." Also "In early 2016, PSA unveiled a roadmap detailing its plan to re-enter the North American car market for the first time in almost forty years. Although many only expected the DS to enter the North American market, PSA announced that all of its brands would be sold across the continent. The plan to re-enter the market has three-stages, be a partner in a transportation network company, then begin renting and sharing PSA's own vehicles to the public several years after, followed by a full launch, and establishing a dealer network in 2020."
Although Wikipedia also says "With GM spinning off the Opel/Vauxhall division to Group PSA in March 2017, Buick is expected to move away from sharing the same Opel model/designs upon the completion of the current generation vehicles or a debut of a replacement after the sale closes." It looks like PSA will enter the American market but Buick will not be using their platforms or at least that's my take. It is sad because I really like the European platforms on Buick

It seems the Opel versions have a more refined trim than the Buick alternates, so if PSA goes to USA, it should be better.

Autobahns aren't the only reason to want more power. I have had 4 adults in a rental car and it was underpowered.
Well, 120HP is enough for 3 adults with luggage to travel in a small wagon through the mountains, so I think that Opel should be fine for 4.

It would depend on the roads and how traffic is as well as the transmission in the vehicle but I want something with more power so that it is there if needed. I have driven a lot of different vehicles and I never once said "I wish this car had less power" actually it was quite the opposite. You didn't answer are you in Germany

I think at some point power is mainly marketing.

You don't even have Autobahns. Why do you need more than 260HP?

Our driving patterns are completely different from yours. We drive longer distances in larger cars.
[doublepost=1530736226][/doublepost]I wonder when the General will start selling Camaros for 20% off again. Camaro sales are down 36.1% for Q2! 30.6% YTD!

I don't see what longer distances have to do with overpowering. And this is a large wagon, not a 3-ton truck.

The low end engine for it is 170HP, which does not look too bad.

What? The Golf Variant (Sportwagen and Alltrack for US) starts at $21,685. Quite reasonable for what it offers.
It can be quite expensive depending on how you configure it.

Other nice small wagons start at a lower price.

True and I don't need a German claiming more than 260HP is unneeded

Your opinion is that 170HP is enough which is not one that I share

It isn't bad at all just underpowered for what I want

I am not sure 170HP is enough for this version, it might be a bit under powered as is usual for entry level engines, but this model only has 2 options and is already a higher trim level (that's why I said "not TOO bad"). The point is that 260HP should be more than what is needed then FOR THIS CAR.

If 260HP is enough for that American petrolhead youtube channel, it should be enough for you.

Such as? Remember that the majority of people in this thread live in America, not Europe.

The Golf Sportwagon is 1 of 3 non-luxury wagons currently sold in the US market. The only other options are the Subaru Outback and Toyota Prius V.

What did I write before? That you only get the "expensive" models. You can find cheaper Seats, Peugeots, Renaults, Fiats, and Škodas in the same segment for example. Some are listed above.

The Outback is a crossover now, not a wagon. And the Prius looks like a monospace.

Once again, if you think that $21,685 for a Golf Wagon is "expensive," you're out of touch with the US market and don't know what you're talking about.

The 1996 Landcruiser is a mid-sized SUV—the only reason being because larger things, such as the Expedition (+ discontinued Excursion) and Suburban, exist.

Land Cruisers are full-size SUVs.

Nice dashboard which Audi is that?

Audi e-tron

If BMW sold a 5-Wagon in the US that had AWD I'd get one

So a BMW X5?

Some publications agree with me.

Some configurations cost over 60000 euro.

One of the first things I look for in a car is the powertrain. My current POV has 271HP and my g ride has 291HP and I feel like both are underpowered

The Subaru Outback has been categorized as an SUV since the 2010 model I think
Thanks
So a BMW X5?
The X5 is close to perfect but it is common where I live and I wanted something different
