Isn't your car less than a month old? Why not drag the service writer out to where you're having issues and have them fix it?

In my opinion, I think this is beyond what a service writer would have knowledge On or have the concept of repairing [Unless its a versed service writer with experience or its an already documented issue from other Mercury owners], in which in the least they could document the issue and pass the fault to an engineer or foreman. But I agree with you that it should be addressed, as it’s nothing more than an inconvenience for technology the customer is paying for, even though it has not been officially diagnosed what the issue is. Albeit, it seems SandboxGeneral already eliminated some of the Troubleshooting steps the dealership would likely suggest he follow anyways, which would be nothing more than a waste of his time being he already seemingly understands it’s more technical beyond the “Have you tried this yet” method. But absolutely they should have someone at least first hand see exactly what he is experiencing so they have exact specifics to address the issue, hopefully.

You aren't going to drag a flat rate wrench out for the joy ride so the service writer is the next best thing.

Ford needs to know about it and needs to offer some sort of answer.

Right, which Is why I stated they (The service writer) could document the issue first hand and pass it along to an engineer/foreman. I Never suggested a technician. Or, Even a lead service advisor would probably be even more suitable than just a service writer if appropriate.

Ford needs to know about it and needs to offer some sort of answer.

Of course. That’s why I already suggested on the previous page (In post #9568) the fault be posed to an engineer if applicable, Being this a new car owner, so they can take advantage of technology that he is paying for.

Is it 2011 again? Or has Mercury been brought back from the dead?

Otherwise, I don't know where one would find a Mercury dealer :) . Granted back in the day most dealerships that sold Lincolns also sold Mercurys(or really sold the whole Ford range, hence the common abbreviation then of an "FLM" dealer) so were versed in both. After all, cars like the Grand Marquis and Town Car are more alike than they are different.

If I had money, I'll tell you what I'd do/I'd go downtown and buy a Mercury or two. I'm crazy about a Mercury.

Or, more specifically, I'd buy a Marauder or two :)

Yes, I've had it about two weeks now. I haven't contacted the dealership yet only because I'm the type of person who likes to try figuring things out myself before I call in someone else. If I can eliminate all the basic troubleshooting steps first then I hopefully can relay that to Lincoln and bypass them asking me to do it all first.

Odd thing again yesterday at work. I intended on going in airplane mode and turning the WiFI on as I did at home in the morning and see what happens. But I decided to just try it one more time under 'normal' conditions with the WiFi and the cellular on and the car started right up. I was in a bit of a hurry all day yesterday so I didn't do any further testings.

At home right now I just tried it under 'normal' circumstances again and it worked.

I haven't changed any of the variables that I've been dealing with. Except that yesterday I put the iPhone in airplane mode, cutting off the cellular signal and then restoring it. Perhaps that was the problem in that either the Lincoln Way app, the iPhone itself or a combination of the two were out of whack if you will. I don't know. I'm going to keep testing it to see if the results change or not.

It is a pretty sharp Lincoln, though.

BBK installed. This actually worked quite well, win/win. Sold the stock 19 inch wheels/tires and previous LT headers (That were installed from previous owner) combined and walked away with a $400 credit with no labor install (The same shop actually owed me based off the difference/Plus, I Have given them a lot of business/and I know the owner on a personal level Who purchased the combo) . Although, I did take a slight loss on my wheel setup selling them for $875.00 v.s $950, but I could not sell [No inquiries] my stock wheels at all through local sources for over a month, which I thought would sell quickly being the OEM wheels were in excellent condition with the factory Pirelli’s At 90%, but the aftermarket is so competitive with wheel design and tire offerings., and personally, the OEM wheels are not attractive at all, at least not for my 14’ GT. I think Ford has really improved the wheel depsign for the later GT models. But looking at the used market for selling stock wheels and tires, a lot of the same listings were still available on local sources before even I posted my wheels for sale, if that provides any insight of how poor the OEM wheel market is compared to the aftermarket competition.

Also, just from what I can tell so far, it seems the BBK helped temper down the cold starts somewhat, which in hindsight, is a bit more courteous to my neighbors being it’s *loud* as it is with the Roush set up 3” set up. Still sounds amazing with the Coyote.

Well, I think it may be safe to say my remote start problems are resolved.
  • Key fob: No RF interference. Have to press the lock button, then the starter button twice. Pressing the lock button is different from the last few cars I had, so I wasn't used to that.
  • Lincoln Way app: Seemed to be a problem with the iPhone. Putting it into Airplane Mode and then back to normal has resolved the problem in all locations.
---
Now, there is a 'feature' Lincoln did whereby in the dark hours as you approach the car, it projects the Lincoln emblem on the ground, warmly greeting you and boosting your ego, giving you that warm, comfy feeling about your purchase.

In my opinion this feature is just one toke over the line into silliness. Perhaps the design engineers were smoking too many fat ones when they came up with this idea. :rolleyes:o_O

Good solve :D

Yeah, my GT has a "pony" for the puddle lights ... it's a bit silly, the kids seem to like it :D

I've been a Lincoln owner/snob long enough that I wouldn't half mind seeing the star projected on the ground on my MKZ :)

I'm on ancient technology, though, with a 2010.

The logo projector is a bit snooty. I would replace it with a KIA slide.

I agree. That said, I’d much rather have logo puddle lamps than the ridiculous glowing Mercedes grill logo MB is putting out these days... seems to be most frequently optioned on the CLA-class, which is a joke to begin with.

I share your sentiments exactly. As I said something similar back in April about the Ford Mustang projector pony lamps. I don’t mind them lighting the outside ground, I just think it’s comical with the pony horse on the ground, when I would rather just have the puddle lamp illumination. Good to hear the issue is resolved though.

So Ford has these “Pony Projector” lamps on my GT/CS side view mirrors, Which are the most _gimmicky_ feature on this car.

I like the idea of having puddle lamps that light up the ground. (As my SHO has them) However, the large Pony emblems are rather comical in my opinion, but I can appreciate Ford trying to make the car unique with the Pony light, its just seems distasteful to this car.

Pony just reminds me of the Cockney rhyming slang! In this instance I think it's well suited.

Just picked up the car after getting Xpel installed. Overall happy with the results. But left side has a bubble and is peeling where they wrapped it around the rear wheel well. So back it will have to go to get it fixed.

Curb rash looks especially bad on black wheels. I avoid them for that reason.

I get black wheels and just avoid curbs :D

One little trick with very minor scuffing on a black wheel is to use a Sharpie to fill it in.

Saw one of these driving past my favorite BBQ place Saturday. Octane Red.

Don't see many of them in these parts.

Love it, carries 4 people with outstanding comfort - press right pedal ... goes _very_ fast :D That was originally the color we were shopping for the DDRT, it's a beautiful color, but can look a little purple-ish and I guess to my design sensibilities, the slight color mismatch between the bright red calipers and interior elements (like the various stitching and SRT logos) kind of conflicts. Happy we wound up with Redline (which wound up being a touch darker/deeper in person and has a nice 2-stage top coat).

Yes, very. I've only driven one, but it was quite impressive. Unfortunately, as a result, I want one.
I really wish there was an AWD variant. Ah well.

As for the color, Redline is a great color, and perhaps the one I'd ultimately choose. On an HC it arguably should be renamed Arrest Me Red. The Octane Red HC also looked a bit darker in the wild than the picture I posted... hard to describe, really, but it is a beautiful color on that car, quite different from Redline.
Hadn't thought about the details you mentioned, as I've not really shopped for one. One could paint the calipers, I suppose. As for the stitching, I dunno...
Ok, I look at my saved Hellcat search on AutoTrader a time or two every week, but hey, that's not shopping, right? Harmless fun, it is.

Dodge does offer some alternative caliper colors, black, gray, but this one is ridiculously fun, orange with a Go Mango orange exterior:

Hahaha, woo , yes!

AutoBlog just reviewed the Hellcat Redeye Widebody :D (it's also running orange calipers with that particular blue exterior, awesome color mix)

Bottom line it's insane, a thrill ride, "affordable", excessive :D

Good tip. I'll get my next car with the overhead view camera so I don't curb my wheels again. Fast parallel city parking is tough.

Excellent, feel free to send $1 to my paypal: SmartyPantsCarTips@gmail.com

:D

Fast parallel city parking is tough.

Yeah, honestly if I was in a situation that required constant, [large] city, high speed parallel parking I'd probably drive an SUV with a more "curb proof" wheel + tire setup. Whenever we're in NYC/DC/etc., I always wince at the nice cars, parallel parked, with curb devastated wheels. I'm extremely spoiled with working from home combined with my area (in Florida) having big giant parking lots everywhere.

I assume that is not a metallic color? I prefer metallic.

I’m open to all paint schemes. Metallics are nice. I have always opted for black primarily, it just draws me in. Although, future color considerations for my next sports car would be purple, orange, blue, ect. The red on your Miata has a Nice tone. ( I really like the new crimson red on the 2018 Mustang as a secondary color.)

The one fail-safe color for me if undecided is white. To me, nothing looks better than a clean white car with a nice set of wheels. See @SandboxGeneral new MKZ photo’s for a great example of This.
