i looked long and hard at the golf R for a daily driver before i bought the truck. my buddy swears he prefers his focus RS, but i'd choose the vw in a heartbeat.

Oh, sorry. It's not a ZF10. It's actually a Honda developed and manufactured 10 speed. CVTs are pretty much the worst. Our CR-V has one that is tolerable considering the point of the car, but yeah give me a traditional auto any day of the week.

I just saw this post. CVTs are horrible. We once assumed a lease on a Maxima from a friend who needed to get out. you would think that a sports sedan would have a proper transmission.

a nicely optioned raptor is near $70k and that doesn't include about a $5k markup if you plan to buy in CA.

Quite a few Raptors are ‘Leased and dropped’ in my area. I personally wouldn’t pay $70,000, when they can be had for approximately $57,000 with around 25,000 miles for a 2017 with a warranty. But that’s just how I feel about a truck, I’m more into cars, which I either want extremely low miles or new. But the same applies to my local dealerships with the Raptor, where dealers will apply a $5–$7000 ‘mark up’ just for putting it on their car lot.

I would be surprised if they went back to a V8 as the first generation raptors had the 6.2L V8. I wonder how much more they can squeeze out of the 5.0. guessing it's just easier to turn up the eco boost.

The eco-boost is a great platform, and clearly Ford has exemplified that through their lineup with the Raptor, Mustang, Explorer, SHO, etc. But for a truck, I am indifferent with 3.5 TT for an engine base. If I’m purchasing a mammoth truck like the Raptor, I want a V8 and it’s been rumored/speculated for a while the Ford likely might be migrating back to a V-8 for the Raptor. With my SHO, I couldn’t ask for more power, and add the AWD factor, and its Thats *much* fun and addicting, but the difference being the Ecoboost feels ‘right’ for a larger sedan like the SHO.

But with my 5.0 GT, entirely different experience, but with the engine Note of the Coyote to feed my V8 ‘Fix’.

my ZR2 has every option besides accessories and the sticker was a tad over $47k. however, there are decent discounts out there, more so now that the 2019s are showing up. I love this truck and don't regret my decision, but because it's competing in the mid-sized market, it doesn't have all the fluff that can be found in a full size truck. sure, it would thousands to the price, but I'd personally would pay for it, ie. keyless entry and start/stop, fully adjustable seats with memory, homelink garage door opener, adaptive cruise control, power sliding rear window, etc.

I agree here. I would rather have all the tech and premium options in a vehicle then just opt for a base model. I think it changes the experience and the perks are there with all the subtleties for key features you mentioned. Convenience/tech packages is a major consideration for my vehicle purchases.

It’s not bad. MBZ SUVs are usually understated. Wonder what the 63s will look like.

The insinuation is dealers aren't trustworthy and this is common practice in a number of places.

some dealers are definitely shady, but stealing people's money is on another level. haven't heard of another incident amongst the forums I visit.

Exciting Upcoming venture:

My agency was one of 75 to be selected/participating in the country invited to test run the new electric utility Ford Explorer in Romeo, Michigan. Not Many details were disseminated about what to expect, however; what I do know is we have the opportunity to have hands-on with the vehicle dynamics, track run, pursuit ratio’s, B&S techniques and P.I.T. [Its a three day course.]

I’m just curious to see how the performance
Is in these new electric vehicles and efficiency with all the onboard electronics. But this is the future for L.E. Vehicles and I think Ford really wants input from those in the field with ‘real life scenario’s’.

*********************

On a Separate tangent and related, ever since I drove my neighbors Tesla back in July, I have been slightly triggered about the electric era and what it has to offer. I’m already seeking what my next set up will be, and I’m jostling the idea of having a performance car (A V8 like a GT350 and electric car, and I haven’t ruled out a Roadster, but I don’t know yet). But I’m Keeping watch on the Market to see what I will choose in the next few years.

Ford teased this image as well with the next ‘2020 electric performance vehicle’.

A little ordinary, but I have an ‘18 Camry SE rental right now. I’m surprised at how good this car is, even with the non turbo 4 cylinder. Tracks straight on the highway, handles well, plenty of power and great visibility. There’s some high speed wind noise, so it’s no Audi, but a big improvement over the older version and actually fun to drive.

After some time with the Camry, I decided it's a highly competent, but unexciting car. I think I'm going to buy that A5 sportback I've been debating over. I love driving too much.

I had a chance to test drive it, too. Unexciting, but handles better than previous Camry models. I also found the interior surprisingly roomy. And the seats up front were very comfortable. Toyota really knocked it out of the park. Sadly, I don't see too many of them on the road compared to older models.

Don't know if that's because long-time customers hate its looks or it speaks volumes about how durable a Camry is.

We checked out the S5 sportback before we bought the SQ5. Great car, but it was too small for my wife.

No before and after pictures, but I used a headlight restorer kit on my families daily drivers. Both are over 15 years old, and the headlights went from yellow and opaque to bright and shiny.

There’s a product that’s rather affordable called ‘Meguiars PlastX’. It Does a really nice job of removing yellowing and oxidation, you can even use it on the products like CDs to remove light scratches, interior plastics, etc. The great thing about is you can use the product by hand without having to use any type of orbital buffer, ect. [Its a decent product that’s been around for quite some time]. The other advice I can offer is using a little bit more of a rugged cloth, The results are even better when the paste can penetrate the headlight from the cloth material, but would also depend how clouded the headlights are.

Polishing kits for car lights are superb, but part way through you have to think you have completely messed up...... then the last part of the process and they are as brand new. £350+ for a replacement or £20 for the kit. No brainer.

MOT and service for my Golf tomorrow.
My tyre sensor keeps going off, so I have been filling it up with air a few times of late. Anyway found out I have a nail in it when I checked.
So I'll be getting a set of tyres tomorrow as well.
The Dunlop ones I have are terrible in the ice, so I'd rather some decent Continentals or Michelins.

They all have plenty of tread, but some cracking. As a low mileage driver I tend to suffer from cracking.

Plus it's a free work out!

Not seeing any swirls and it was a drill kit. I did expect to see them but one slight mark that cause no issues.

3M headlight restoring kit I used.
