A35 'AMG'. IL4 from A250 model with new turbos = 306hp 4Matic.

The design has grown on me. I would never get the aero kit nor yello color though.

For a moment I mistook MB-star on the last pic looked as a Citroen badge and the whole styling kinda made sense.

Then I realized my mistake and that the car would be about 50k more than it looks:p

In that price/size/performance/status class I would get a BMW M140 despite the model being ancient.

I *love* the color (and the boy-racer aero :D), but those AC vents keep freaking me out. Maybe if the internal vanes were black (so they'd sort of disappear).

I was wondering when this would take place, but Cadillac announced that after 2019, the ATS-V and CTS-V will be discontinued, but ultimately to be replaced by the CT4/CT5. But the CT6-V (No longer touting the ‘Sport’ moniker)That was demoed at the New York A.S will still be offered with the 4.2 T.T. V8 priced somewhere around $92,000-ish.

Something else that I don’t find surprising in the sedan market, however; [nothing yet confirmed], but circulating rumors that the Chrysler 300 will also be discontinued around the 2020 Mark. Another large sedan on the road that I just don’t see very often, besides being a rental.

You mentioned that back in August. I think the G70 is probably not practical for the average person, I watched a presentation back from N.Y Autoshsow. (Being that it is based off the Kia Stinger Platform). I think it’s a combination of the German era with Audi and BMW, especially with that wired mesh grill. But the Sport trim is nicely paired with the 3.3 T.T-(365) HP/376 Tq or the 2.0 T T.-252 HP/260TQ [Which the 2.0 trim is offering a Manual]. As far aesthetics are concerned, I do like the exterior more than I do from the interior photo’s.

North of my City, we have a Hyundai/Genesis dealer that coexist together, but I don’t see Genesis brand on the road very much or very little marketing exists in addition. Curious to see how the G70 competes over-All.

My choice is between the Prestige 4 cylinder G70 or the 4 cylinder A5 Prestige Sportback. The Audi 4 is remarkably efficient and powerful, where the 4 cylinder G70 pales in comparison. But the Audi is nearly $7000 more with similar options and a shorter warranty.

I am heavily euro biased, so I wouldn’t even consider the Hyundai. On paper, it may look like a bargain, but fit and finish mean a lot to me. Plus the A5/S5 sportback is sexy as hell.

I’m willing to believe craftsmanship with Audi is on a higher level than the Genesis would be. But you have to make the justification, is the $7000 worth more to you with similar options, aside from the warranty?.

To me, your post makes it sound like it’s either matter of costs savings with the G70 or spending the additional funds on the Audi incorporting the performance/aesthetics, regardless of the ‘badge’. For me, I wouldn’t settle for something less because its ‘The cheaper’ mentality, especially for a car when you want the experience, unless, of course it’s not in your financial means to do so.

You're right, once I'm up to $45,000 it will be a mistake not to go to $52,000 to get what I really want in the first place. I run cars to 100K miles (5 years) before trading, so I really do get the value out of them. Good engineering is not lost on me either.

Something to consider: Depreciation on the Genesis might be higher over five years. There's a possibility that the Audi's TCO is about the same as the Genesis.

Looks gorgeous on the AMG GT, though. BMW still offers Dakkar Yellow as a custom order, IIRC.

Agree to disagree. :) And Dakar yellow was last good on an E36 M3. I don’t even like yellow on newer Ferraris and Porsches. with all that being said, I’m pretty boring with the colors. majority of my cars have been black with a smattering of white and grey here and there. only other color I’ve had was a 1996 rosso corsa F355.

From a depreciation standpoint, this is most likely correct. However, no way TCO is less when you factor in all the consumables and such. I would still get the Audi though.

Fair enough. You're free to buy only black or silver cars.

On Genesis... I can't fathom why someone would spend the money on those cars unless they were offered with hefty discounts; 10-15K off MSRP. While the Koreans have certainly stepped it up, the fit and finish of these vehicles still isn't there. I say give it another 5-8 or 8-10 years until they can achieve Lexus-like quality.

If given a choice between it and a German, it's clear what I'd buy. If it was against a Lexus, even a lower rung Lexus, I'd buy the Lexus.

Porsche is getting out of the diesel game. They're going to be focusing on electric and hybrid cars. And, one would assume, gasoline, as well.

I’m looking forward to seeing more of the Porsche ‘Taycan’ (Strange name, but was formerly the ‘Mission E’ as a Proto). 600 HP/0-60 in 3.5s, curious to see how this rivals the Model S. [Especially now that the Roadster Debut should debut shortly after the Taycans 2019 appearance]. Musk is already touting it will be the “*Fastest* Production Car period.” To me, I don’t know why gloating about being the fastest car is necessarily the most pivotal feature for a futuristic car that’s not here yet, when the focus could be on other things about this car with efficiency and technology incorporated.

That said, I have driven a Tesla 85D, which actually was a fun experience, I wasn’t however, impressed with the fit/finish interior for a $90,000 vehicle, but I expect Porsche will supersede Tesla in that category alone.

sadly, EVs do nothing for me. my buddy has a model S P100D ludicrous. it's insanely quick, but doesn't provide the visceral experience of a gas engine at WOT.

Why is gloating about a car being the fastest production model the best feature? "Cuz speed, duh! :)

Some of us like going fast and faster!

I mean, I get it, speed is something that we all want in terms of performance, but the question remains, what will the Roadster separate from the Taycan experience? Musk knows the Taycan is coming, and these electric cars have immediate power, but if I were to purchase a car of that caliber, I would want to know other differentials that ‘earn my money’. And let’s not have any false modesty, Tesla has had a background for having issues with fitment and quality standards, which leaves me naturally curious how these two cars will measure being this close together for potential releases, [other] than just performance measures.

I'm also curious and can't wait to see a side by side comparison. The industry just keeps getting better with this particular niche.

Blasphemy. How dare you.
You praised me for saying I may buy an Audi A8 over an S Class. The least you can do is look the other way now!

Yup. Have an employee who let me drive one of those on a cold day near the coastline. Still managed to get the battery to throttle itself due to overheating. It's quick and that instant torque can be addictive, but as you said, there's a visceral experience that's missing. Kind of why I like GT racing more than F1. The sound of those straight cut gears is intoxicating during in-cabin shots.

My new project car: A 1986 Dodge Omni GLH Turbo. Sure it's not a Shelby GLHS, but it will be a lot better when I'm done with it. It's like a mid 80s VW GTI, but a lot better.

I kinda hate to tear into it with it being so damn original and unmolested, but I have my choice of Lotus or Maserati DOHC engine swaps to make it a terror on the street. FWD, but only about 2400 lbs.
