What are you even saying?

Family cars (like the Honda Odyssey) have BR drives for their rear-seat entertainment system. Not for music upfront.
Cars usually just have one disc player up front that plays both video and music. You cannot watch video up front when the car is moving.

Isn't music entertainment?

I will look for Blu Ray. I would not buy a car without DVD and digital TV at least.

But I would take a car with SACD and no DVD.

Sorry, but are you watching a BluRay film when you drive? No. BluRay and DVD were often used by a manufacture to entertain passengers in the rear.

Thanks captain obvious.

Please refer to my previous post. There is no car with a Blu-ray drive up FRONT.
Sometimes I think I'm in an echo chamber.

Many cars only have screen in the front. You can watch video when you're stopped. You can for example, listen to the TV while driving.

If a car is good, you should also be able to listen to a concert DVD in surround while driving.

Anyone else here do amateur motorsports?

I've got 15 years experience now in auto-x, ice-x (this is what we call autocross done on frozen lakes), and endurance karting (outdoor, traditional gas-powered. I haven't done any of the indoor or electrics yet. I might give it a try, but the tracks all look so, so small). Would enjoy chatting with any others here into such (or looking to get into such) things.

Morning run with a couple of friends. GT350 is a very competent car.

Well with the first CD players in cars you could only play CDs and once they began being able to read MP3 and FLAC files, then everything got interesting. However, the limited size of a disc which is about 750 MB, I want to say, had you hit a wall unless you splurged for a multi-disc change capable of reading MP3 files. There was no logical progression from CDs apart from DVD and BluRay and those aren't meant for vehicles. Bluetooth or connecting via a USB cable or outlet/inlet is the current preferred method, but I'm sure we'll see this change in the future.

Most of the cars I bought in the 90s were outfitted with a factory changer with 6 disc sleeves. And I'd carry a small album of assorted music on discs. Sounds so strange nowadays but so normal then.

I had my whole music collection on 6 or 7 MP3 CDs until I had gotten that digital media receiver. Of course now most new cars are equipped with CarPlay.

What car has no rear speakers?
Etios top trim sold with navigation, DVD, digital TV, Bluetooth, and no rear speakers.

The system does support rear speakers and the car is ready for them to be installed, but Toyota doesn't.

It might depend on the market and I think there's a limited edition with everything in India (but likely without digital TV because the country uses DVB-T).

So it looks like the number of CD’s that will be sold this year will be about the same as in 1986. And of course there are about 75 million more people in the US now as well.

In the 80’s CDs were more expensive than they are today and probablt 50% more same album. CD players were also very expensive.

Most people today don’t want to shuffle through a bunch of CDs when you can easily organize your MP3s in your phone. Plus streaming subscription services are generally far more cost effective than buying albums.

My car has a 6-disc in dash CD changer. I don't think I've ever used it.

Depending on the mood I'm in, I sometimes listen to the radio, sometimes listen to an iPod Classic "hidden" in the center console but more or less permanently connected that's loaded with stuff, or sometimes pipe in music from my phone over Bluetooth.

The chief advantage of the last option is that if I'm using my phone for navigation, I can also hear it through the car speakers. Otherwise, the iPod wins for the sheer volume of stuff on it.

I don't have any kind of functional entertainment system in the MG. There was an old, cheap CD player in it(no radio) when I bought it. That was the last time I used a CD in a car, and I ditched that a long time ago because I couldn't hear it that well at speed, would rather pay attention to the sounds(good and bad) that the car is making, and the blanking plate in the dash looks good.

Which cars come with DVB-T2 from the factory?

Shutting down DTT now that Europe finally catches up is a bad idea.

Who cares about some penalty box from India? Most of us are in the US or Europe.

It's ridiculous how often you force this thread off topic with your nonsense.

What's a penalty box?

I only mentioned India so that somebody reading this is not mislead because in their country they might be able to get the car with rear speakers.

Do you think this is not a global site?

Again... who cares?

We were talking about the Model Y and somehow you completely derailed this thread with some rubbish about DVBs, rear speakers, DVD drives, and spare tyres.

Do you think there's only one conversation going on in this thread?
