Then at that point we’re free to assume that you aren’t effected by it and that you’re simply complaining just to hear yourself talk. With the number of times I’ve seen you quote yourself, that seems quite likely.
Assume what you want, I don't care. And I will continue to quote myself, as I do many times.

How do you know it does not affect me?

Expensive cars are imported into emerging markets because there are some rich people there.

The Cruze just stopped being made in the US. It will go on elsewhere.

Ford is in a misguided crossover/SUV/pickup path globally. Of course I am not going to buy one.

I don't buy downloads and many times you can't stream. The point is not to listen to the music that I have at home.
If Ford is misguided, then it will be reflected in their business success. I personally think it’s a risky move, but I personally would never buy a Ford car or SUV.

If you have spotty streaming service why not just use offline mode? It’s your choice to buy CDs over purchasing downloads. Or you could always upload your CDs to your phone.

If cars with CD players were truly “unbuyable” then why are people buying them? Your needs may be different than the majority of buyers. And mainstream car companies will go after the majority, not the minority.

I have used "offline". It does not cover all use cases.

I don't use iTunes anymore. At home I only buy Hybrid SACDs. I am not going to rip on the road.

Okay but you understand you’re a minority *needing* a CD player in a car.

I don’t think I suggested ripping CD’s while driving...

The automakers have to cater to his outdated and very rare use cases and also design models for his own personal tastes, in every market, otherwise they just lack business innovation.

I know a few Fiats are sold over there. But I don't think you get the Fiat Tipo SW for example, which is what I was talking about.

So, do you think that importing a car from an unpopular make in the US in a body style that hasn't been popular for ~30 years in the US market would somehow or another be a runaway hit?

I'm afraid I don't follow the logic.

How many times do I have to say I don't care about the illogical US market?

I did not say every market. Shiny new does not mean better.

Many people think they don't need 3D. I will not buy a TV without it.

I have a 3D TV. As I sit here, I see a couple of dusty sets of glasses sitting in a box on the entertainment center that probably haven't been touched in a couple of years.

I have a 3D BlueRay player, but I don't know when I last even saw a 3D movie for sale. When they first came out, they were expensive enough that we would trade them around among several friends.

Personally, I never warmed up to sitting around in my living room wearing sunglasses to watch TV.

The US market is only illogical TO YOU.

And, as I said, it's at least somewhat relevant since it is one of the largest car markets in the world.

Amazon usually has some 3D Blu Ray movie deals.

No, it is illogical to have a road arms race.

Okay, so you want companies to cater to your specific and unique needs that most of the world population do not have? If a company has to add a $20 CD player to every car and they sell 1m cars, that’s $20 million they’ve lost or unnecessary costs they pass onto their customers that will make their cars more expensive against the competition who choose not to.

I believe he said they’re LAZY . I’m guessing he’s either very young, is completely niave to economics, or is has incredibly rigid thinking.

No, the top infotainment option should include Blu Ray, SACD, and DTT.

He sounds like an old man set in his ways to me.

Automakers designing for the three people that would actually want that would have spent more than its worth just designing a change in the dash where the player would go.
Kenwood just added Wireless CarPlay this year and they already have DSD and Wireless Android. But they only have DVD. What are they going to add for CES 2020?

I wonder how he feels about Apple’s decision to exclude optical drives from their computers.
Not as bad as removing the 2.5" bay from laptops.

Of course I stopped buying Macs after the cMBP was discontinued.
