Yeah, that’s a really sharp ride. The grill pairing with the color of the car meshed perfectly. And then factor in a scored $39,000 price tag, you can’t go wrong. More than anything, I’ve really grown fond of different shades of gray, especially the ‘tarnished gunmetal gray’ look.

Your dad made a good choice. Looks rather good. I'd think it were a Jaguar based on first maybe even a third glance. Loving the neighbor's lawn across the street. Looks like they use a powered reel motor with a short cut length, and in a hatch pattern. Makes my heart flutter a bit.

Pretty sure the neighbor uses the same Sears-brand push mower he's had at least as long as my parents have lived there. He just knows what he's doing with it!

Also, thanks to everyone for the compliments on the Continental. My dad really, really likes it. The times I've driven it, I'm still trying to warm up to the push button shifter next to the start button :)

Gen I/II Viper?

[edit]

Posted that from memory / quick in-head math, the 8L Viper motor is actually 488ci, oh well, a swing-and-a-miss :D

I did wonder if anyone would automatically assume cubic inches, but its the other end of the spectrum here :)

(I already had fun asking people to guess what my car is, although that was a year ago now! but mostly for @bunnspecial 's sake ill just cut to the chase LOL)

Talk to him and he'd probably more than happy to tell you far more than you ever cared to know :)

Rant time:

My neighbor had his white Camaro ZL1 for sale for about a month, Until he sold it last week. What I don’t understand, is he was meticulous with this car in terms of detailing, maintenance, sheltering, he wouldn’t even let anybody near this thing. Yet, when he went to sell it, he had it parked outside on a corner Road 24/7 for any type of weather element exposure, there was surface rust on the rotors from rain from sitting, it was freakin’ filthy. And this is a not a cheap car ($60K) he was selling and just to leave it outside like that? It almost makes me wonder if there’s some type of sense of not caring anymore when you move onto the ‘next best thing’.

Secondly, I took a sneaky peek at it one night when I was driving, not a scratch on this thing whatsoever. However, immediate dealbreaker if I was actually interested in this car, it has the Alcântara steering wheel, it was absolutely disgusting how tarnished it was from dirt and oil residue from the constant handling. And FYI, he sold his car with just over 6,700 miles on it. I know there is cleaning kits available, but I refuse to buy any vehicle that has Alcântara lined steering wheels, (A.K.A- another fancy word for carpet.😁)

Ok....Rant discontinued.

I guess he had simply moved on to his latest ride. It’s like people who take a filthy car to a dealer to PX. Spend the day before giving it a good clean inside and out and you can make some extra money for sure.
Personally I can’t stand having a dirty car.

Did he buy something else or is going to? Perhaps he's going through a divorce and the car was the last thing on his mind at this point. I dunno... but that is odd behavior based on what you wrote for how he used to care for it.

All ZL1s have an Alcantara wheel, shifter, some other things like door inserts. I've seen a few people swap them out for the SS parts.

I wouldn't say Alcantara is analogous to carpet where is not generally used a replacement, it's a substitute for leather/pleather/vinyl/cloth, it's a synthetic suede. I've had it on seats, it's terrific (for a car on track) as it's very grippy.

My seats:

However, it's tough on wheels, especially for a daily driver - people I know with P-cars say they wouldn't have it outside of a mostly dedicated track car (low use, gloves).

Yeah I am not a fan of alcantara either. First thing I would do is swap out the steering wheel and shifter for the regular SS leather wheel and shifter if I picked up an SS 1LE or ZL1.

That’s really interesting. I didn’t know you could even switch out Alcântara for leather. If that was the case, I would pay the price just to have that garbage material removed from the steering wheel/shifter. I see why it’s liked, and maybe I would be less particular if it was a new vehicle with my hands on only, but I would absolutely not purchase a vehicle with somebody else’s grimy hands all over it, that’s a no-go.

He didn’t buy anything to replace it, he has a new F150, a speedboat and an 80s Chevy truck with a mean 383 stroker sitting in his garage. But you bring up a good point, you never know somebody’s mindset why they’re treating property the way they do, maybe it’s more personal to that affect.

BTW, like the new avatar. I’m sure you’re fairly excited. If I had to choose between your engine options, maybe the one with the crawler gear? That just sounds like some extra fun for those off-road days.

Can't change the material, need to change the whole steering wheel and shifter.

This video demonstrates it. Obviously he is going SS wheel to SS 1LE/ZL1 wheel.

Oh wow. That’s Big commitment. I was under the impression like an ‘upholstery business‘ could physically change it, but that wouldn’t be a cheap process.

Just sharing this... I literally just bought back my lease on my first car ever, my Honda Civic Coupe 2016. It only had 52,000 km on the 80,000 km allowed. Love this car, how it drives and how it looks 🤩. Paid the balance cash, so no payment left after only 4 years 🥳

Nice ride! One of my favorite cars I’ve had the pleasure of owning was an Accord LXi hatchback. I bought it with 100,000 miles on it, and drove it for another 100,000 +, then gave it to a family member. It ran for another 50,000+ before needing transmission work.

After two attempts, the shop that installed the supercharger, and later the brake rotors and pads on my Charger, finally scheduled me for the brake line installation this Friday morning; the parts are supposed to arrive Thursday. This will complete the brake upgrade, and I am done with that shop. Hopefully their wrenching proves to be better than their organizational and communication skills, which are sorely lacking.

I won’t bore you with the details, but other than the initial appointment, it’s been a seemingly endless and at times comical series of missteps in the process of what should have been pretty straightforward work. Looking back on it, the engine work was beyond my current capabilities, and it certainly made sense to have a shop do the work; but once I saw how it was going, I should have ordered the brake parts and done that part of the work myself.

I’ve considered having a chat with the GM, or maybe the owner of the shop, and giving him/her/them some constructive feedback. If I was in their shoes, I’d certainly want to know. But they may not really care. I seriously doubt I’m the only customer to have such an experience.

Then again, maybe I’ll just chalk it up to having payed more tuition, and let it go.

Ah well, another lesson.

Yeah I am excited about it. What I'm not excited about is having to wait! :p

I am leaning on the smaller engine with the manual transmission with crawler gear. However, Mr. Doug DeMuro is giving me a moment of pause on that idea (see video below). He is thinking that the smaller engine may be a little under-powered for the vehicle. If you go for the V6 then you lose the manual transmission. Maybe that will change when orders open up.

The Ranger has the same engine as the smaller one for the new Bronco. So one of these days I'll go test drive a Ranger to get a feel for the engine, while keeping in mind it may have a significant weight difference and have different transmission and rear axles. But I'll still get an idea of which direction I may want to go by the time orders open up in December.

I am waiting on the Ford Build & Price feature of the website to up for the Bronco. According to a tweet from Ford, based on a story over on Ford Authority, it should be live no later than September. Then I'll be able to see the details, specs and packages of what I want and how I will want it configured for the order later on.

Anyway, did y'all see Ford CEO Jim Hackett is stepping down and the COO is going to take over in October? I wonder if we'll see any major changes in the company going forward. If so, I hope they're good ones.

Yep, like I said, no biggie, just need a wheel puller (I've done a few ;) )

There's a _touch_ of liability concern when you start fiddling with airbags, but you know, we do what we do :D

What I'm not excited about is having to wait!

That’s actually my favorite part. Any time I’ve actually ordered a car or was waiting for delivery, I love researching, watching ‘hands-on’ videos, finding/reading more details From others experiences, specifically about the car Before it arrives. It Just keep me pumped knowing I have something to look forward to before it arrives.

It’s gonna sound strange, with my white platinum metallic SHO and Cobra, I could’ve had both of those cars to my door within two business days for the same price I would’ve if they shipped within seven business days, I opted for the longer delivery, just so I can learn more about the car, tech specs, pics, anything I can absorb to keep the high going. (Uhhh, the euphoric high, no illegal substances.)

Two things:

1.) So are you completely set on the Bronco? (I know you made the deposit) The only reason I ask, is you were considering a whole slew of cars from Mustangs, Camaro, old school, even another Lincoln if, etc.

2.) What would you rather have, an automatic or manual if you had to make a decision right now? Aside from the engine options with the torque/horsepower ratings, I think that probably will be even more influential.
