That’s actually my favorite part. Any time I’ve actually ordered a car or was waiting for delivery, I love researching, watching ‘hands-on’ videos, finding/reading more details From others experiences, specifically about the car Before it arrives. It Just keep me pumped knowing I have something to look forward to before it arrives.

It’s gonna sound strange, with my white platinum metallic SHO and Cobra, I could’ve had both of those cars to my door within two business days for the same price I would’ve if they shipped within seven business days, I opted for the longer delivery, just so I can learn more about the car, tech specs, pics, anything I can absorb to keep the high going. (Uhhh, the euphoric high, no illegal substances.)

Two things:

1.) So are you completely set on the Bronco? (I know you made the deposit) The only reason I ask, is you were considering a whole slew of cars from Mustangs, Camaro, old school, even another Lincoln if, etc.

2.) What would you rather have, an automatic or manual if you had to make a decision right now? Aside from the engine options with the torque/horsepower ratings, I think that probably will be even more influential.
Boy, you sure know how to ask the tough questions! Do you work for Hard Copy?

[insert Ace Ventura clip that I can't find]

1.) I am about 95% set on the Bronco and that climbs up more everyday. The only thing that might change my mind about it (or any new, read expensive, vehicle) would be related to local election results in November. That's a topic I won't discuss publicly here, but would in PM. However, as long as November goes well, then yes I see myself getting the Bronco.

I'm far more sure about this than I was the muscle cars or another Lincoln. I was wishy washy on all of those because I liked them all more or less equally which made choosing more difficult.

Plus, the Bronco is in a totally different direction from all the other vehicles I've owned or considered. It is and can be a toy car, just in a different way than a Mustang.

Like you said the anticipation of the vehicle is a lot of fun. I've been reading as much as I can find about it and watching a lot of videos about it. I've also been watching a lot of off road videos with Jeeps and whatnot which helps to understand what these vehicles can and can't do.

2.) I can go either way on the transmission. The reason I kind of want a manual is because I've never really driven one before. I can literally count on one hand the amount of times I've driven one.
  • Dad's 1990 Corvette. One time for maybe 15 minutes just before I left for the Marine Corps he pulled over on the expressway and let me drive it.
  • A Nissan something or other in the Marines. One of the guys in my platoon took me out for a small drive into town and had me try it out.
  • My buddies Mini Cooper for an hour or so when we were coming back from a day trip somewhere a few years back.
That's it. At 42 years old I feel a bit dumb for not having driven one for any appreciable amount of time and being comfortable with it. But I am at the tail end of Generation X which is an odd generation of "in-betweens" especially with technology and culture. Drivers training taught us on automatics. All the cars my family had were automatics by the time I was beginning to drive, except for dad's two Corvettes (1987, 1990). Dad is extremely particular about his Corvette which is why I've ever only driven it once back in 1997.

So that's kind of why I want the manual transmission.

I watched this video last night which kind of amazed me. This dealer has a lot of detailed spec's on the Bronco that I haven't seen anyone, anyplace, have so far.

No discussion of what may be the greatest supercar ever made?

Everything that is good about a car in one small, light package

Oh yeah, anytime Gordon Murray does anything in the car world, automative enthusiasts should take notice :D

Not unexpected that is has an insane HP-to-weight (given his background), love it's NA, hahaha, 11.5K redline ... o_O

Haha. No. That’s just the detective profession inside me. You have to provoke critical thinking!

Well, at 42 (Which you’re a lot younger than I thought), I’d say you plenty of life left in you. (If you’re over 50, then you’re older than dirt.😁)

You should just choose based off what excites you the most. And I think the Bronco would be probably the most appropriate being you can enjoy year round because of the weather conditions living in Michigan.

I think the thing for me when you buy a ‘seasonal‘ (A.K.A Sports car) vehicle depending on where you live, you can only enjoy it XYZ months out of the year. And they have to sit in storage, and I hate that, because cars are meant to be driven and sitting in storage is the worst thing when the car is just....sitting. So the fact that you can enjoy something in any type of weather conditions regardless of the horsepower/torque rating, makes all the difference. I think by adding the manual, it gives you more of that ‘sport feel’ that you’re in control. And I say that, being automatics have come along way from the -old school- manual days, but manuals still give you the sporty nostalgia

What I look forward to, is your impressions once you actually get a chance to test drive one if that opportunity comes your way.

Given your excitement, I definitely support the Bronco idea. And it’s something different, which it’s good to be away from the ‘expected norm’.

The seasonal car is also something that has been in the back of my mind as I've been exploring my next vehicle. This is especially important since I am a 1 vehicle person with no garage. It's why I kept hesitating on a Mustang or Camaro in that those are not great for snowy conditions. My MKZ does just fine with the AWD and of course all the trucks I had were 4x4's. A Bronco is obviously not going to have any issues with the snow.

I used to have fun in my last F-150 in the snow. I would get steel-studded snow tires for it which were far better than the standard M+S tires. It had a limited slip rear-diff which when in 4x4 mode, effectively made it a 3-wheel drive with an open-diff up front. Even though it didn't have lockers, that truck with those tires went through anything our Michigan winter threw at me. Of course, I also drove smartly too. I never went into anything that could potentially get me stuck or needing help to get through. I helped a fair number of people get unstuck with that truck as I always carried a strap with me. A buddy and I would go out driving in the worst storms looking for people to pull out and we never charged them even a dime for our help. We just enjoyed the challenge. I could very easily do the same again with a new Bronco.

With my MKZ I only go out in the snow when I have to, like going to work. Otherwise, if the roads are even a little bit slippery or snow covered I will wait until they're more clear before heading out. I don't have snow tires for it and it's not equipped or designed for bad weather like that except to have AWD. So I don't risk getting stuck or crashing the MKZ if I don't have to.

Yeah, if I didn’t have a garage, a Mustang or a sports car would out of the question. That’s a necessity for me, (unless you use offsite storage.) Speaking of tires, I’ve used Bridgestone Blizzaks, one of [If not thee] the best snow tire on the market. You pay a premium, but they are incredible with traction. The only downside, they have a short lifespan and you have to change them once you reach warmer temps, as they will wear considerably. Speaking of which, I may trade my Hyundai Sonata in in the next three months or so for something else. If I don’t, I definitely have to order a pair for the winter, as my all-seasonals probably have less than 10,000 miles left on them.

You don't need seasonal cars in Texas :)

The jealousy is real from Da north.😁 That’s the toughest part for me, is I really hate storing cars for the winter, as it’s part of the game in the north. Speaking which, I actually lived in Texas, (De Soto actually, before transitioning to Chicago), and the only thing I can say about TX was the dust and UV rays was on another level for paint on vehicles. Minor gripe, but worth noting.

I've actually never had ventilated seats. That's the Prestige S4. I only have PP
My 2011 Super Duty has them and it changed my world.
Wife had to go up an entire model upgrade in her Benz to get cooled seats and they aren't even that great.
The Tesla Model X removed the option for them before I got mine.

The not-high-end pickup truck has the best coldest air conditioning setup of our 3 cars and it's black with black leather interior.

Crazy to think how far technology has pushed in the EV. The front end looks far more ‘futuristic over any Tesla.

The tail-light separation is unique. Sort of makes me think of the Prius Prime somewhat.

Holy info-display. What is that...like a 14” full LCD panel consuming the entire front dash? I’d say GM looks ahead in the aesthetics Department.

Was the unveiling done in Europe? Look at the wide license plate on the back, that's certainly not a North American sized plate.

Lyriq is the most un-Cadillac name I could ever imagine GM choosing. I suppose the name is supposed to marks a departure from ICE to BEV... very different from their 3-character alphanumeric nomenclature and previous names like Fleetwood, Brougham, Seville, Coupe de Ville, Eldorado.

The name is just too silly.

I see they say this is not a concept and very similar to a production model... we’ll see what the final product looks like. GM’s quality has been pretty overwhelming as long as I can remember.

While I would never buy a 2WD SUV/crossover and I‘d much prefer an AWD SUV based off a RWD platform, but I have to ask. Was the first gen SRX a remotely sporty car?

Lyriq, only to be outdone in the <LOL_NAME> department by the upcoming Celistiq sedan :D

So final production design, price, etc., TBD, but I really like the design shown here. GM really trying to move Caddy away from their brand baggage (not a bad effort either).

To be honest, even though I'd rather not own a Caddy, I'm pretty sure I'd rather own one over a Tesla ...

It's 33" right from several articles, that's more functional than an aesthetic choice. Resolution, interface, etc., also TBD, but it sounds like it's a 10-bit panel, high PPI, very cool.

I prefer knobs and physical buttons. Much safer in a car.

Wow. These names could easily be confused with a pharmaceutical product. Truly awful. Celestiq sounds like a cross between Celexa and Pristiq, both antidepressants. Lyriq sounds like a foreign market name variation of Lyrica.

I am assuming stiq is pronounced like steek... but I’m really hoping it’s pronounced “stick”- like celery stick. Really market to the vegan crowd

It is refreshing to see a renewed sense of innovation and differentiation with Cadillac from GM... but I feel like we’ve been here before... at least a couple times. They come out with a decent product but 1. Hastily copy the product to other models and 2. Then trickle the good bits and pieces down to mainstream GM models. Or they do one thing really well (ATS suspension, styling), but completely botch something else (ATS interior). Then they fail to keep pace with the competition.

The Lyrica exterior looks pretty cool as is in the pictures- nice to see something original. I’m not sure I’m in love with that interior though. I’m not in love Celiquisha.

Tesla’s only benefit is the charging network. I am embarrassed for Tesla’s budget Model 3 to Y transformation (aka Model 3 hatch) and the atrocious build quality not even their most loyal supporters can excuse. Having water leaks, dirty headliners, woefully misaligned body parts, misaligned seats, etc is unacceptable on a $60,000+ car. They haven’t released pre-order or sales figures on the Y... I think they really missed the mark on what should be their best selling car based on current market trends.

Maybe Tesla will finally dump the now tired and generic original Model S-like styling on their future cars. I can only hope the CyberTruck is not the new brand design aesthetic. :p

It looks pretty good. I would need to see the interiors in person. The latest Cadillac interiors have badly disappointed, IMHO

They just need to make sure who ever is in charge of materials for the C8 does every interior for at least Cadillac if not company wide......
