Yes, you attempted. However, my point Still was and is, (and you can be as pedantic as you’d like about this), a there is exclusivity to post on bring a trailer. Just the fact that you can’t just post any vehicle you want says something about the fact that you have to have an approval process before they even allow your vehicle to be on there with a lengthy history of background information with vehicle documentation, VIN reports. I mean, I wouldn’t use the word exclusive in terms of eBay motors, which really doesn’t have much requirement.

The Cobra that I just purchased, wouldn’t even qualify for BaT based on what previous owner said, because it was so heavily modified, which it was anything but Original. And yet other Terminators sell on there that have one owners/little-to-no modifications at all, because that’s generally what that site is directed at.

For the record, this has nothing to do with import versus domestic, my point is, I use the word ‘exclusive’, (which you questioned when you replied to my post initially), which was direct off their mission statement, and I suspect you overlooked that or got upset at the fact I Proved you otherwise.

Anyways, feel free to personally message me if you want to discuss it further, as I would rather not clutter the thread any further.

I'm happy to discuss privately too, although can't send you a PM. I guess maybe we're disagreeing on exclusivity. Yes, they do have a vetting process, but I suppose my point of contention is that it's not necessarily as stringent as I perceived you as implying. I take their "exclusive" claim to refer to the fact that they do reserve the right to pick and choose what they offer, because as I showed I've seen what I consider some junk or at least "pretty" cars that had obvious issues get through their vetting process(fairly often in the cars I follow) and not a statement as to the absolute quality. Perhaps I misunderstood you as implying something different(for example that cars offered there are in some way special), and if I did I apologize.

In general, at least with classics, it's interesting to see what does see gets accepted. As I said, a lot of "pretty" cars that I don't even consider safely drivable make it, as do a lot of rare cars, rare configurations of common cars, formerly mundane and ubiquitious cars that are now uncommon(without pulling the link, there was a 70s Ford Maverick a few months ago that is the epitome of malaise era cheap cars, but was essentially a time capsule).

BTW, I think your Cobra would have been accepted and done well on there if it had gone there. They don't reject cars based on being heavily modified(happy to provide examples if you want)-the key seems to be the modifications being clean and well-executed. As I'm sure you know, there are a lot of bad modifications out there(slapped together, poor fit, poor running, etc) but your car certainly isn't in that category.

Also, just as a small request, can you please edit my first name out of your post? I'm not overly protective, but prefer it not be shared in open forum.

I thought your name was MGB? Saw a lovely burgundy one earlier this week. British racing green is the proper colour for an older British sports car, but burgundy looks good against the chrome as well.

I really need to give my car a good clean inside and out, but I have another tip run first.

Perhaps it is :)

I know nothing compared to a lot of the MG guys.

My car is BRG because...well...if you're going to have one I feel like that's what it should be.

Damask red(burgundy) is a really sharp color on them.

Some of the "funky" 60s and 70s colors can look quite good. I'm a fan of Pale Primrose, especially on GTs.

Funny enough, a lot of people seem to gravitate toward "Orient Red"(red orange) on MGAs. My absolute favorite MGA color was Old English White(very pale yellow, sort of an eggshell color), and if I ever have one that's what color it will be. That's a color that carried over to the early years of the MGB, but I don't think it looks as good there.

I appreciate hearing your "car guy" report with your impressions.

I know I've gotten the reputation in this thread as a Tesla basher. In truth, I can really appreciate the technology and the strides they've made in practical EVs. The reasons you cite, though, turn me off the brand(and not the concept of EVs as a whole).

They certainly are fun to drive, and that's a good perspective on the range basically being a tank of gas range. I'm sort of revisiting my "no chance" stance now because I'm in a better position to charge at home and I'm doing a WHOLE lot less long distance driving that I use to do(I use to make ~600 mile round trips nearly every other weekend, and I make probably 1/3 that number of trips now) and 340 miles covers my usual 2-4 days a week 60 mile round trip to work commute with plenty of room to spare.

Enjoy for sure!
I don't think it's fair to say "Tesla basher". It's realistic right now to be a Tesla skeptic. At this point, I think it's unreasonable to say "Tesla will not exist in some form in 10 years", but I will say it's reasonable to be skeptical of many of their practices.

While it is a ton of fun, my trust in the build quality is still suspect and my elation with the build quality is somewhat guarded. But I get in the thing and drive it and I simply forget most of my concerns.

I think maybe your phrase Tesla skeptic is better.

You're right. I don't think at this point they're going away.

With that said, I feel like a lot of folks have fallen into the mindset of EV=Tesla. Tesla themselves get a lot of credit for this. They're a come from nowhere company(by that I mean that basically every other car company around now can trace their roots back a long way, and Tesla has basically only been on anyone's radar for ~10 years) who has actually made EVs that are more than run-around-town cars that are boring and instead EVs that are big and luxurious, have ranges practical enough to be more than grocery getters or short commuters, and then gone on to build the infrastructure to actually make EVs practical to drive long distances.

With that said, I think what I'm reading as sort of your bi-polar opinion of the car(worry about quality, but love driving it) might fixed in the long run when EVs from 100+ year old manufactures who know how to build cars(and in many cases have a loyal owner base) get things that on the road that can compete with Tesla on price, range, and "fun."

Next Friday I’m having measurements taken For a lift, but I don’t know if that will be able to be installed as quickly as I’d like given the pandemic with parts and employee resources being short it seems.

So as a back up plan for the time being, both the Camaro and Cobra will be in dry– heated storage off-site and the Scat will remain in my garage. The one thing that concerns me where I live, is it gets fairly cold during the winter time, and rodents are a problem where they try to make its way in my garage, (as they have in the past, I live in the country side) and It’s always in the ‘back Of my mind’ that a mouse or something will make its way into my garage, and cause havoc in the car, being it sits/not driven during the winter time.

So I found this: ‘Car Capsule’,

It’s essentially a protective bubble that is operated by a fan with a charcoal filter (Which is reusable) that helps keep moisture out, nothing can enter and it’s an overall layer of 360° Of protection. I personally would rather invest in this versus an actual ‘car cover‘ where that still doesn’t resolve my concern, and has some added protection against outside dirt/moisture. The reviews are good, it’s reported it only uses a $1.50 per month for electric and I like the idea that it’s a complete enclosure where it’s transparent, essentially it’s almost like a giant condom for your car.😁

I’m totally on board for this and it’s the perfect timing given we are headed into deeper/colder months ahead.

Anyways, I have yet to meet anyone that has one of these, but if you have an exotic, muscle or collector car in general and you live where moisture and rodents can be a problem, I’d say this is well worth the purchase. If anyone has any feedback on this product or knows anything about it, I’d love to hear your feedback. It’s on my cart now, MSRP $489.00.

This is a solid pic of from another customer what it looks like fully inflated.

So a fun little anecdote from a little earlier this evening-

I was helping my fiancé fix dinner, and my phone rang out of the clear blue. I looked at the caller ID, and it was someone I hadn't spoken with in over a year or so, an acquaintance who often goes by the name "V8 Glenn."

Since it was kind of an out of the blue call and I know he's geographically close and a good friend of one of my good friends, I took the call afraid something was going maybe I needed to know about. I otherwise would have been reluctant to take the call then, as I know a phone conversation with him can often be a two hour affair.

So, in any case, I answer the phone and-typical straight to the point-he says "Hey, you bought my mom's Marina didn't you?" I answered that in fact I did. I didn't buy it from Glenn, but he found out about that in a bit of a twisted way-I called him to see if he'd be willing to haul the car to me when I was still working to buy it, and he gave me the full back story at least back to the 80s. He talked through hauling options, and finally he said "No, I can't trailer that car to you. I know that car-I'll get it to you but I'm driving it." I ultimately passed, but it was still a fun thought.

In any case, this evening his next question is "You want another one? It's too good to part out, but too much work for me to want to get back on the road." I politely declined and also said I was out of the Marina game for now, but when I got off the phone my lovely fiancé(who will be my wife in a little over a week) said "You'd better not be buying another car." Of course I assured her not. She knows me far too well, though, especially since I've been talking about buying an Austin Champ the past week :) (my mechanic just bought two).

Edit: For added photo/double post error.

On second thought, it would make complete sense keeping these wheels for the track. I can just swap these on track days over the Chip Foose wheels with these stock 20 inch wheels, which would be perfect with a set of drag radials. These aluminum alloy wheels would be ideal for the track, being they are lightweight at just under 30lbs per wheel.

Why not buy it for your fiancé as an early wedding present! She’d love that!

2021 BMW M3/M4 reveal.

The big topic, So they essentially changed the orientation of the ‘kidney grills‘ turned vertical (With different styling of course), quite a bit of controversy on this, but I think it works.

When it comes to the M-series, the interior has a lot going on, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. Those seats are nothing short of awesomeness.

I'm in the camp of not liking the new BMW design...

I went to look at the quattro yesterday with my daughter and walked away; it had a colour change, sills were painted with that black spray on rubber stuff that is really for the wheel arch covers, but the biggest issue was the engine. There was a bad tick which seems to indicate the exhaust manifold is cracked, and no live in the engine, it just didn't like getting on revs...

Shame but nice the search continues...

Big grills in general I think Have been the ‘oncoming‘ for years now. I’m personally attracted to the bigger/more aggressive blacked out grill look, but maybe that’s because I’m from a different generation of cars or in the sport era of things.

But here’s my qualm when it comes to grills, they have to be functional, I don’t want just a big grill for the sake of it ‘looking aggressive’, they have to offer some other type of functionality aside from aesthetics.

So, lets take a look:

I took this photo but a month ago when I was considering the Avalon Trd, but 90% of this massive grill is actually faux. It has no core functionality, except towards the upper quadrant near the Toyota symbol on the front. Now, I personally think this ‘looks good’ (Yep, it’s definitely subjective), but there’s a reason this car has been sitting for over four months and marked down to $35K. I suspect this Model Avalon definitely doesn’t appeal to grandpa.😁

My 19’ SHO grill I think is the perfect size. Not too large, but commanding enough where it has a nice presence on the car and gives it a nice sporty look. But, as I mentioned before, it’s completely functional allowing 100% airflow with no blocked ports/holes.

Not usually a fan of big grills on cars but I really like the new M3. I think it’s because they are black so blend in much better than these awful chrome grills.

Well, I see most of the bourgeoisie enjoy their admittedly plebeian automobiles, and I don't find that objectionable. But I must register a complaint, however minor, concerning the aesthetics of my otherwise excellent BMW v12 engine. True, it performs, but it's appearance to my trained eye is...awkward and contrived. Even ostentatious. Perhaps something more subtle would have been in order. Please see the photo below, which my private photographer, Aldrich von Dustable (son of the esteemed Peter von Dustable, portraitist to British royalty) documented recently.

See what I mean? A mundane vibe. Unsuitable for any BMW 7.

Ha, if you got this far, have your sense of humor fixed. This auto exists in my perverse imagination, as does all the rest. Damn you, I don't even have a car, and all of you do. Enjoy.

That machine is attainable. I bought mine for £1,150 it was advertised as a bmw 740i :) A great engine, so smooth you can balance a 50p coin on its side on the engine.

Mine was a 1988 model, if only I had the space to keep it. A chap bought it purely for the engine to put in his Lamborghini kit car.

Not a fan of the new 3/4 series designs. It simply no longer looks like a BMW. A former designer is also not a fan

Hoffmeister kink is gone. characteristics lines are gone. Everything is now softer and rounder and generic looking.

The grill is an abomination. There are ways to do a big grill but this aint it.

It only just works if you remove the front number plate. But in the vast majority of the planet, number plates are a thing and you can't just ignore that and fail to design for it.

Not impressed by their virtual cockpit design either. Busy, borderline confusing and dim.

Nothing in their new lineup interests me apart from maybe the 8 series...only just.

I haven't changed my registrations yet, but I'm really sorry to be moving from one of the few places in the country that doesn't require front plates to one that does.

I hate how they look on the front of the car(even though I know why they exist). My MKZ never had a front bracket installed(it was sold new in NC, which doesn't require one, and then moved to Kentucky where it was also good), and I'm going to have to track one down. The MG I think has two holes in the front bumper, but I'm going to have to double check. One way or another, I want something nicer than just screwing a plate into the bumper, and I'll have to do some thinking if I want to just roll the dice and chance it if there aren't holes in the bumper(not about to drill a virgin chrome bumper to fit one).
