The Ferrari-like carbon fiber tub is really cool. To choose a 4C over a Cayman is like choosing a Corvette over an R8.

This is a very interesting point! But a Corvette offers 98% of the R8's performance at 50% of the price.

The Alfa isn't that much cheaper than a Cayman. A loaded 4C is near $70k, and that gets you into a Cayman if you wanted.

Also, if you're into looks, the 4C looks significantly more exotic and striking.
It does look exotic, but there are so many downsides to it. The typical Alfa build quality, reliability, and resale are a stark contrast to the Porsche.

I still need to go drive a 4C. Local dealer hasn't gotten one in months.

I know, mine hasn't either. The Fiat dealership now has an Alfa logo on the sign, but you can't actually test a 4C
Yeah. I went in a few weeks ago. Apparently they got one Launch Edition a few months ago and haven't gotten another one since. And they have no idea when the next one will come...

Whatever happened to the joint venture between Alfa and Mazda? Or was it Fiat and Mazda?

The Chevy Sonic is the next-gen Aveo, The Aveo IS a Daewoo 100% manufactured in Korea in the same factories as Daewoo. Only in the US was it sold as an "Aveo" It's the Pontiac G5 in Mexico and Canada, The Chevy Kalos elsewhere. The Suzuki Forenza, 100% Daewoo, The Chevy Spark (US) is 100% a Daewoo Matiz. the ONLY reason these Daewoo's sold as Chevrolet's is because GM decided to completely phase out the Daewoo Brand. Doesn't make them any less of a Daewoo.

EDIT: The Daewoo name itself was still used in Russia and Egypt long after it was pulled from the US Market.

Looks like I forgot to hit reply on this...

The Daewoo name was used in those countries until 2011. The "T300" is assembled in these places, not just Korea...
Yantai, Shandog Province China
Ramos Arizpe, Mexico
Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, Korea
Rayong, Thailand
Orion Township, Michigan, United States
Bogota, Colombia
Nizhny Novorod, Russia

How is it 100% Daewoo when it uses engines, transmissions, and a host of other major and minor components from other brands? Is that like calling a Jeep a Plymouth product?

OK now I'm a touch offended ;):p

I have literally that same picture, same place on Eliot Street in Cambridge too. I sent it to my dad, he's a big fan of that sort of thing. A lot of the older models are convertibles.

(If you love falafel, pass on Falafel Corner BTW. Rami's in Brookline is much better)

They also made some convertible versions of the newer models, which are hideous... Rare, and extremely expensive. The newer ones are known as the "cabriolets", which just makes me think of those awful VW Cabrios.

Get rid of the triangular piece behind the door and I think the looks would be restored. And looking at the pic of the older one there is still a piece there, but smaller. So really get rid of the window and make the piece smaller.

Now the 6x6. Much want.

So I had real intent to make a Gaywoo logo for distribution, but kind of ran out of steam on the idea after we got back last night (sushi and bowling :D )

I crunched the numbers once. I think the difference between using regular and premium in my Audi was like $300 a year.

Yeah, I mean, there is some difference, but it seems like it's pretty minor in the grand scheme of automobile ownership. Actually, I'm curious ...

OK, using the same station prices (from GasBuddy) in my area, in Florida, Regular (87 octane) vs. Midgrade (91) Premium (93) the difference is:

87 vs. 91 = ~$200 more/year
87 vs. 93 = $416 more/year

Using a really simple calculation of a full tank a week (20gal x 52 weeks)

Yeah, I was there today and it was parked in the same spot.

Rami's is much better than Falafel Corner, but I also like Garlic and Lemons on Harvard Ave. There's a new Falafel place in Kenmore Square, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

The triangular portion ruins the lines
