Does anyone find it annoying that you can't single click with a light tap, and double or option-click with a two-finger tap? I haven't used a trackpad that I had to physically click in at least a decade, as both MacOS and Windows facilitates this in settings.

You can turn on tap to click in the Trackpad settings.

I'm not sure exactly what your issue is, but I think there needs to be a setting for tapping strength like on a regular laptop.

Yes I noticed this. We need to complain so they will fix it. It's a new product. Sometimes it only requires a very light tap, others it's harder. This is cleary not right. There needs to be a setting. This is the only issue with the whole thing, as far as i've noticed. That, and the lack of function row, which is hardware.

Just turn on tap to click, then no noise. It is awesome! :)

Just turn on tap-to-click in Settings.

I have an ASK and my magic keyboard is en route. If I really like the MK and decide to keep it, just wondering if I should sell the ASK to recoup a little bit of money or just keep it as a backup. Curious what others in the same situation are doing...?
I'm keeping my ASK as my "travel" option: staying at the beach, going to the coffee shop, even sitting by the pool (when all of these reopen again).

I’m liking the keyboard so far! However, I cannot get the backlighting to work even in a dark room. I move the slider and when I leave and go back it is back to being set to the far left

I’ve restarted. Am I missing something?

A use case I’m really gonna want to try when I get mine tomorrow is some kind of remote desktop for iPadOS. Being able to leave my MacBook behind and connected to the internet for short trips and then being able to use my iPad to get heavy tasks done will no doubt be a game changer

I love my MK more and more...
Few days ago, i find out to scroll easily up and down (i never had a MBA or MBP)

When i press...
control + arrow keys = slow scroll (up/down)
Option + arrow keys = fast...
cmd + arrow keys = very fast...
👍👍👍

Edit:
Im looking for a complete list for shortcuts and Gestures

I have an ASK as well. Gonna add it to my Apple Collection, but also have it as a backup, as well as an alternative for times when I don’t want to bring my MK. Always good to have another option if the need arises.

Indeed! The MK keys have no protection against liquid or crumbs like the ASK where the keys are sealed behind a membrane. I dont have the MK yet but the need to treat it like a laptop is one the factors holding me back.

Apple clearly sees them as different alternate products for different uses. Initially I assume Apple would phase out the ASK, but they are now selling a new version for the 2020 iPads.

Is anybody finding Excel to be really buggy with the keyboard? I’m having trouble with typing and cursor clicks not being recognised. Only way to fix it is to kill the app and go back in.

Excel, like the other MS Office apps, hasn’t been updated to accommodate the new trackpad support yet.

Given they are still yet to implement multi-window support and we still cannot view 2 documents side-by-side, I don’t hold out much hope of MS updating their apps any time soon. They really do neglect the ipad apps. I wonder if this is because they’re trying to push people into using Surfaces...

I have a simple, but important to me, question:

Is it possible to start dictation from a keyboard shortcut?

Previously, the only method (known to me) has been to tap at the bottom of the screen to bring up the on-screen keyboard and then press the dictation button which is a far from elegant solution.

Thanks @Macintosh101 - I wasn’t sure if they’d been updated or not.

The other thing I’m noticing is the seemingly random Capital Letters at the start of words while mid-sentence. Am I unknowingly invoking some sort of clever behaviour which can be turned off or is it just a bug?

This has been a issue for the longest time. There is still no way to do this without the cumbersome method you have suggested. I have no idea why there isn’t a keyboard shortcut for this- it really is a big oversight.

I’m having both of the same issues. Excel is unusable - locks up after a few actions. Also seeing the same behavior with random capitalizations.

But i looking for shortcuts (keyboard), too :)

I have another bug/issue...
With control+cmd+q i can lock the iPP, but sometimes nothing happens. Then i have to press the powerbutton on iPP to lock it. Most times control+cmd+q works fine

One little problem (software?) with Youtube-Website (not the youtube-App <-- very crappy)
I cant control volume with the arrow keys (up/down), but i see the on-screen-control (volume). It goes up an down, if i press cmd+up/down, but nothing happens. Can anybody confirm this?

Has anyone found a good solution that works with the keyboard and protects the camera? I upgraded to the 2020 iPad Pro so I'm wondering if there's a good solution that somehow would allow the keyboard to continue to work, and at the same time protect the camera bump in case I want to use the iPad in tablet mode and then put it down somewhere not on the keyboard. I still haven't received the keyboard so not sure if this is even feasible.

Protects the camera how? There are a variety of places you can set it down on the keyboard case, but I've been using iPads for 10 years with no protection other than Apple's minimalist cases and have never had an issue with camera damage. The lens is extremely durable.

Just been using this setup for the last hour and surprised by how stable and usable it is... started a thread on it. Lovely to have the hotkeys too!!

Anyone else that uses facebook messenger experiencing problems with the iPads magic keyboard? On first launch of the app, you can type into mesSages. But once you leave the app and come back in you can no longer type using the keyboard. You have to keep killing the app and going back in

Sounds similar to the problems in Excel with the keyboard.
