Honestly they only place ive seen phones holding good resale value is in the states, here for example if its used well its used and no way people will pay you those prices i see around.

Galaxy and iphones they sell about the same but i will say both (and other brands) tend to depreciate fast during the cycle but they hold the value after the new model is out. ( my country of course)

Still more true-to-storage than the Samsung. I'm just expressing an OPINION

Don't forget the same IOS apps are usually about twice the size of Android version. Also those leftover ios update files (which you cant delete) gobbles up an extra gig for no reason. I thinks a 16Gb iphone is in much more dire need than a 16Gb samsung.

Yep, just tried a Note 12.2, killed all the apps then opened 2 and it was using 2.2gb of 2.8gb ram. Then killed them and was it sitting on 1.6gb idle.
Got to be TW. Man their big.
You just sold S5. Not sure why you bought/have another Samsung (Note 12.2) after such a bad experience. Can you please post your Ram consumption screen shots with multi tasking window showing all apps.

Na I'm the same way. I got a 5s but felt it was too small. So I got the s5. I like it but if the iphone had a 4.5" screen there would be no questions and compromises. I'd be on an iPhone in a second.

My eye doctor would have liked me to keep the 5S with that screen size. :)

The talk of lagfest on the S5? I need examples to reproduce it cause it isn't happening on mine. I admit not as fast as the M8 but it isn't slow by any stretch.

Just sold my S5, never had a phone that has taken so long to offload. 9 days. Would never buy a S series Samsung again, you would think after their crap S3/4 they would have improved. Overpriced garbage. Feels good to be lag free again. :)

Maybe the Note 4

I liked my GS3 just fine. I disabled things i didnt want and didnt use the TW launcher. Used it for 1.5 years.

Open some apps and then use multitask or other apps, task manager will show you how much ram its using, will be around 1.8gb of 2.

I opened 10 apps (Camera, Calculator, Memo, My files, Contacts, Calendar, Messaging, Play store, Settings and Gallery ). My ram consumption is 1.38gb/1.81gb. Task manager says, I have only 6 active apps. Not sure what is going on. Thought memory consumption is more than I expected, but it is not as bad as you are making it out. I am actually thinking about rooting and debloating. In my day to day regular use, I am yet to reach all they way to 1.8gb.

TouchWiz really doesn't seem bad on the s5. I had the note 2 and the lag was noticeable. I'm not seeing it on my s5. I'd prefer stock android but I'm liking the phone.

You're not noticing it now. The phone is new.

Give it a year or so (after one or two updates from Samsung) and then you'll see it, just like it happened to S3 and S4 users (including myself).

My note3 is coming to 1 year and a few firmware updates. I dont notice degradation in performance. Unlike some who are OCD about free RAM, I have stopped freaking out about free RAM long ago. My note3 free RAM stablized at around 300-400Mb but even at this level there is no noticeable performance degradation compared to when just booted up with free RAM was around 1400mb.

And thats fine but your claim was still wrong. There is no true to storage on any of them.

I had a GS3 . It was a 16 GB that had around 12 available and i added a 32GB microSDcard which gave me 48 total, ....more like 43-44 total and it was plenty of space.

I am confused now. I don't know if I need to believe these numbers I am seeing on my phone or your numbers . I will post my screen shot tomorrow. Not sure something is wrong with my phone with respect to memory consumption.

If you check around everyone have different results with X phones, usage will never be the same but my experience with Samsung was really good and i imo the touchwiz issues are waaaay over blown .

Because the memory usage is high does not mean the S5 is a lagfest. I am not seeing that, in a year from now who knows if I will still own it.

In fairness other than high ram usage the S5 touchwiz is smooth and the delay lag is overplayed. I actually want that touchwiz on my Note 12.2. I liked it aesthetically more.

Yea that's happened with every phone I have owned, including Iphones. I get phones every 6 months to a year now anyways.

I have not switched to ART yet but I am pretty happy so far.

You going to try the 10.1 S tablet? I think my next move is to upgrade my Nokia 521 instead of going for a Samsung tablet.

No I've only had the Note 12.2 for a few weeks. Cant justify a change again. Besides that air stylus app on the news page is coming to android meaning I can use the Note 12.2 as cintiq like screen for my Mac :)

since this is the Galaxy S5 thread, to start off i have been a die hard iPhone user since the 3G and have had every single iphone since...but tonight...after all this time i had finally had a chance to have an extended use of the Galaxy S5 and all I have to say is wow...the phone is fantastic....i can see now why everybody who has one...not for the fad, but for the people who knows the specs, knows why its a great phone and what makes it great ...is talking about, it is a fantastic phone, the screen is absolutely gorgeous, the camera was fantastic, it was actually great to hold in the hand and the plastic back didnt feel cheap at all like it does on my father's G2...it is really a stunning device and i have to say touchwiz is an extremely great improvement over the one that was on the S4...now i really wish I could drop my 5S for an S5 because it is truly a magnificent phone...it is really the first phone that would make me consider leaving iOS for android, I really like the HTC One M8 but the camera SUCKS and there is just something about it that doesnt please me, I do have to say I love HTC Sense, but the S5 is truly a winner, now I wish I was in a position to make the transition to an S5, i would honestly do it in a heartbeat, just my little opinion about the Galaxy S5

Watching some eBay deals.

Note 3 and SGS5 are at about 400€ right now.

Which one would go you guys pick?

I don't like phablets but the Note 3 has 3GB RAM and better battery.

SGS5 has better camera and screen.

Will you use the S-Pen? Then it comes down to size........for me the N3 was just too big as a phone. The S-Pen was the biggest attraction but I ended up not using it after the the first few days. So it comes down to how you would use it.....
