According to AT&T Facebook page.... you have to click on Become A Fan to see this:
"AT&T

MMS Update: We know you’ve been eager for this service so we wanted to offer a quick update on the launch plans for MMS on Friday, Sept. 25. Late morning, Pacific Time, on Friday, the new carrier settings update enabling MMS should be live and ready to download through iTunes. We’ll provide the steps and all of the details you need right here at that time.on Wednesday"

If this is correct, guess what people.... we are NO LONGER waiting on AT&T but are waiting on Apple to make it available through iTunes.........

And again, just to everyone reads it again because people still aren't getting it...

You will read and hear about people who can't send MMS in your region/city while you can and vice versa. It's not based on location but rather when they access your account and remove the opt-out code.

So I am east coast US, I guess AT&T has "enabled" the MMS feature on their end, but Apple has of yet to post the update in iTunes? Is this where we currently stand? Not that MMS is really a big deal to me...just curious.

Basically, yes, this is where we are at right now... This is the calm before the storm.

This thread is pretty pointless if the only news you wanna hear in it is when the carrier file is released in iTunes! Everyone will get that at the same time and it will be posted on the front page causing this thread to be pointless!

MMS just started working for me in Atlanta, GA.

iPhone 3G, OS 3.1.
:)

*Facepalm*

Here we go again...

False, we hope to contain the majority of the threads like the "It's here", "it's not working", etc... to this one thread so we don't have a whole list of them in the main iPhone forums.

What carrier file should we be on for MMS to work? Im running at&t 5.0 ( which i thought was the mms capable file ) and it still isnt working. Im also running 3.1 ( 7C144 )

somebody who has it working can you post on here what all of your cellular data network info is... settings>general>network>cellular data network

Am I the only person who doesn't have "Cellular Data Network" as an option under Network settings?

I've got a virgin 3GS (not jailbroken), OS 3.1.

Could you add something here to the original post:

1. What "we" have to do to enable MMS, i.e., connect to iTunes, download update, etc.
2. What ATT does to enable MMS and how we are made aware of it?

Descriptions like "it started working in my area" leave me a little confused. What does that mean, and what exactly did you do or see to know this?

no your not im running 5.0 on os 3.1 with att and i dont have a cellular data network option either.

Here's a thought.... AT&T said "Late Morning" and their idea of Late Summer is Early Fall... So, does this actually mean Early Afternoon?

Just and extra $0.02

OK, so, I did get a text from Att a few minutes ago, not sure though what it means, it says something like "your email address was created for the acct. ending in XXXX"

I plugged my phone in, opened itunes, but, all it's doing is prodding me to update to 3.1, which obviously I haven't done, and don't want to either.

My question is, to those in a similar boat, when your market is activated, and you go to itunes, can you download and install the carrier file only, does it prod you separately to install the carrier file, or is it only done by updating to 3.1 and the new carrier file is part of that?

Thanks, Ari
