Massive upgrade! Congrats, I'm sure you'll be pleased.24/2 in midnight, est arrival June 13-15, upgrading from 2012 MBA
When your estimated delivery date I order the samething
I have absolutely no complaints about the performance of my 2019 16” Pro. It has run everything I could throw at it perfectly well, multiple VMs, anything I’ve tried. The fans are horrendously noisy but they spin up less often since I stopped running VMs on it (I have a big Windows tower with a 32” monitor for that stuff now).Very interesting to read, as I have that 2019 laptop and was thinking if/when I upgrade it, the 15” air may work for me. What apps or uses do you think the new Air will handle better though? VM stuff etc.? Just curious…
I might just be using different apps but the base model 2019 has been working great for me.
Congrats, welcome to the club!!Just ordered the 15" in Starlight, 16/512!
My first MacBook ever 🤩 I'm so excited 😍
All of you going from an Intel based machine to this are going to be absolutely floored at the performance, form factor and silence of this machine.Going from a 2019 16" MacBook Pro to a 15" Macbook Air, Starlight/16GB RAM/1TB SSD.
I am so looking forward to it!All of you going from an Intel based machine to this are going to be absolutely floored at the performance, form factor and silence of this machine.
Dang, that sounds annoying to have it do that so often. Thanks for the info. Yeah mine has been stable, I may hold on to mine too for a while but if I can get a decent amount selling it used, trying this 15” air is tempting.I have absolutely no complaints about the performance of my 2019 16” Pro. My main annnoyance is the constant panics / restarts. Every time there’s a software update I hope it will help, and it never does. In days of old I never shut down my MacBooks, just closed and opened the cover and charged when necessary. If I do this with my current MacBook when I come back to it 9 times out of 10 I’ve had either a GPU Panic or a Hibernate Restore Panic. None of the settings I’ve tried have fixed that and I‘ve reset / set up as a new machine twice in the time I’ve had it. I did hear the upgraded GPU was a problem so the base model was probably far more stable than the maxed out model I went with. I’ve been rethinking losing my 8TB SSD so I may wait a while longer.
I've been using mine all morning and it's behaving. (It must have known I ordered its replacement.) Much as I'd like the M2 chip I don't want to lose the extra ports plus my 64GB RAM and my 8TB SSD. I suspect when I do upgrade I'll choose a Pro rather than an Air so for now I cancelled the order.Dang, that sounds annoying to have it do that so often. Thanks for the info. I will miss the two ports on both sides thought and even the touchbar.

I wish I could be satisfied with 8/256 but I just can’t bring myself to do that. But bumping to 16/512 brings the price above an M1 Pro 14”. Quite the conundrum.
16/512 space grey. I originally went for midnight black, but then read about how easily it scratches.
Upgrading from a 2015 MB Pro so should be quite a step up!
I'm a bit disappointed they didn't put in a larger battery. It's 66.5wh vs 52.6wh on the 13", so sounds like they've increased the battery size just enough to compensate for the larger screen to give the same battery life as the 13". It's a shame they didn't put the 100wh battery in from the pro to give it 30h+ of battery life. I bet there's loads of space in the chassis for it.

Can we all stop for a moment and acknowledge the insane privilege of custom-ordering something to "try it out" and return it rather than just going into the store next week to test a display one out?I have a 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro - it has a better display and more powerful SoC. But I just want to try it out and see if I like it.
