16/1 in Midnight is already in my saved items list on the Store app 😭
Considering I just got the Mrs. her new M1 Air not too long ago, and my 2020 iMac is still going strong, it will have to remain there for a while...🥹

16/512 14-15 June .. But now starts the really hard part --> finding a perfect sleeve / cover 🤣.

16/512 space grey. I originally went for midnight black, but then read about how easily it scratches.
Upgrading from a 2015 MB Pro so should be quite a step up!

I'm a bit disappointed they didn't put in a larger battery. It's 66.5wh vs 52.6wh on the 13", so sounds like they've increased the battery size just enough to compensate for the larger screen to give the same battery life as the 13". It's a shame they didn't put the 100wh battery in from the pro to give it 30h+ of battery life. I bet there's loads of space in the chassis for it.

Very interesting to read, as I have that 2019 laptop and was thinking if/when I upgrade it, the 15” air may work for me. What apps or uses do you think the new Air will handle better though? VM stuff etc.? Just curious…
I might just be using different apps but the base model 2019 has been working great for me.
I have absolutely no complaints about the performance of my 2019 16” Pro. It has run everything I could throw at it perfectly well, multiple VMs, anything I’ve tried. The fans are horrendously noisy but they spin up less often since I stopped running VMs on it (I have a big Windows tower with a 32” monitor for that stuff now).

My main annnoyance is the constant panics / restarts. Every time there’s a software update I hope it will help, and it never does. In days of old I never shut down my MacBooks, just closed and opened the cover and charged when necessary. If I do this with my current MacBook when I come back to it 9 times out of 10 I’ve had either a GPU Panic or a Hibernate Restore Panic. None of the settings I’ve tried have fixed that and I‘ve reset / set up as a new machine twice in the time I’ve had it. I did hear the upgraded GPU was a problem so the base model was probably far more stable than the maxed out model I went with. I’ve been rethinking losing my 8TB SSD so I may wait a while longer.

The 15-inch MacBook Air is my dream machine. I've been waiting for this to be released for a long time. Already ordered a Space Gray 8/10/16 with 24GB memory, and 1 TB SSD. The Midnight looks sexy, but I wouldn't be able to deal with the fingerprints. Estimated delivery is June 13–15.

This looks like a great Mac, though it is a bit disappointing they didn't add an additional port on the same side as the audio jack.

For me, I'll keep my 14-inch M1 Max and M1 MBA setup. I'm looking forward to reading how everyone likes their 15-inch MBA!

Dang, that sounds annoying to have it do that so often. Thanks for the info. Yeah mine has been stable, I may hold on to mine too for a while but if I can get a decent amount selling it used, trying this 15” air is tempting.
I will miss the two ports on both sides thought and even the touchbar.

I just ordered mine! I was wanting an update from my iMac desktop to a laptop. I considered the MBP but it was just too powerful and expensive for my usage, especially since I was wanting the 16" screen. This 15" MBA seems to be a good compromise with money/power. I normally go for silver or white Mac items but for some reason the Midnight color was just calling my name. I ordered the 16GB/1TB config. I haven't had a laptop in a really long time so I hope that I love it.

I've been using mine all morning and it's behaving. (It must have known I ordered its replacement.) Much as I'd like the M2 chip I don't want to lose the extra ports plus my 64GB RAM and my 8TB SSD. I suspect when I do upgrade I'll choose a Pro rather than an Air so for now I cancelled the order.

All of you going from an Intel based machine to this are going to be absolutely floored at the performance, form factor and silence of this machine.

I'm coming from a 2019 13" MacBook Pro, I'm hoping the battery life is good. I remember Apple quoting 10 hours with my 2019 MacBook Pro 13" and I've never got that.

I wish I could be satisfied with 8/256 but I just can’t bring myself to do that. But bumping to 16/512 brings the price above an M1 Pro 14”. Quite the conundrum.

I heard the Midnight can scratch a bit around the ports from wear; have you heard it scratches just in general? The biggest complaint I’ve heard is from the fingerprints.

I’m planning to upgrade from a 2016 15” MBP and I’m pretty excited.

Do you need the extra ports and performance? If not, it’s worth upgrading the MBA and getting some decent performance in a light and fanless design.

I have a 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro - it has a better display and more powerful SoC. But I just want to try it out and see if I like it.
Can we all stop for a moment and acknowledge the insane privilege of custom-ordering something to "try it out" and return it rather than just going into the store next week to test a display one out?

Still processing for me:
