You, who most definitely aren't a friend, need to just move along instead of being a dbag. If the kid is that excited, let him/her, no harm to you.
I ordered my 13" (256GB) from Amazon on Thursday using the $4 overnight for Prime users, and received it Friday (June 22)!
So excited, as this is the first Mac I've ever owned (after owning several iPods and iPhones for the past decade)! It's so pretty and so fast!
Question, though: I hear a rattling noise every time the computer is handled. Sounds like a screw is loose inside, somewhere near the F2 key. That's where the fan is, right? I'm assuming the rattling noise isn't supposed to be there. If I take it to a Genius Bar, I don't need to pay for any possible repairs, right? I haven't dropped it or anything. The rattling was there from the start.

As long as no visible outside damage, you will get serviced right from genius bar on new purchase.
UPDATE:
I had been checking several times a day on the website to see if there was any update on my new Air going to my local store, and as of Noon today is was still 'processing'. I did note that my MBA ordered on the 19th was invoiced on the 22nd.
Well, I just checked again (215pm) and the status is now ready to pick up at the store!! Five days early. So I'm on my way to Pasadena to get the Air, the $100 student gift card, and AppleCare I purchased at the same time.
I knew it would be sooner than the date I was told (ready to pick up 6/29).
For those of you anxiously waiting, hang on! It'll be there before you are being told!

It did come from China. All times listed below are my time CST.
I placed the order online at the Apple store at 1pm Central Standard time on June 20th (wednesday) for shipment to my apartment in Austin, Tx, USA... I chose expedited shipping for the additional $15USD. It was in "processing" until Friday, June 22 as I upgraded the RAM to 8GB.
It showed as shipped from Shanghai on Saturday in the morning (june 23) around 10AM.
It showed as arriving in Memphis, TN on June 24th in the morning.
Delivered to my door Monday (June 25) by 10AM.
I've never received a shipment early, much less 2 days early.
Computer is super nice as well.

Just to recap, what were the specifics of your order? When did you order and what? My magsafe2 has shipped as will be here tomorrow, but my gift card and the actual MBA are still processing.

Just had my gift card go to shipped, with a delivery date of Thursday the 28th. The MBA is still processing and shows a delivery window of June 29-July 3. I also paid the $14 for expedited shipping and am in NC USA.
I ordered Friday night. Shipping notice came this AM. Shipped out of China. Paid the 14 for shipping and it's due here Thursday in PA.
B&H Photo Video is running a discount through end of June. Was cheaper to go through them than Apple (with corporate discount) between the AC and tax.
Could have had free shipping, but getting it quickly seemed worth $17

yeah, was sorely tempted to get the 256GB at ~1494 but couldn't justify extra $200.
also already have a copy of parallels - somewhere. Not even sure if I'll use it, but figured it's a nice option.

I ordered this model last week and they just came in stock today. Great deal considering no tax and 50% off apple care. I got ground shipping because I live pretty close. If it ships out today I should have tomorrow.
My MBA arrived today, one day earlier than the FedEx tracking predicted. Again, I paid the additional charge for expedited shipping, so your mileage may vary.
