Just taken delivery of my 2012 Air 13inch 256gb with 8gb ram. Upgrading from a couple of year old 27inch iMac and it all seems good. Takes me back to my old 2006 Macbook Pro and the machine is so far perfect, battery is very impressive. My initial tests of USB 3 are impressive:

4gb on usb3 = 2 minutes and 15 seconds

4gb on usb2 = 5 minutes and 37 seconds

These were two full Sandisk Compact Flash cards, USB2 test was to my old iMac and USB3 was to the new Air - both transfers on Sandisk card readers copying the whole card to the desktop.

I finally took the plunge and got a 13" Macbook Air ordered through Best Buy. This will be my first computer since my 12" 2005 Powerbook i got when I started college. I loved that computer. And subbornly, I held out on getting a new one. I got an iPad 2 last year, allowing me to hold out for longer. But alas, it turns out a tablet cant fit all my needs and I need a personal computer. I refuse to go back to Windows, after having a terrible experience with my parents HP pos with Windows Milennium. So I bought a Macbook Air. I figure I wont miss the cd drive too much, and when I do Ill grab a $30 one off of Amazon. The thing looks sweet and I cant wait to get it!!

Btw, does anyone know what I can do with my Powerbook? The thing can barely turn on for 5 mins before overheating and going real slow. If it was worth it, i might even fix it. But if not, maybe I could scrap it? Thanks!!

Cool! I have a 2005 15" Powerbook and I've been holding out just like you! The only problem with my PB is that it's heavy, doesn't play youtube videos anymore, gets scalding hot, and can't hold a charge for longer than 20 seconds.

I think you should keep your 12" as a backup computer. That's what I'm doing with mine.

I thought I was the only one who still used a G4. Cool!

Still processing?!

Hey guys after reading some pages I started to have doubts about my incoming MBA 13'. So, I ordered it on 19th June here in Singapore, and did some internal upgrade.. It has been 3 full days and the Order summary page still stats Processing.. Whilst the purchasing page states 1-3 shipping day, is it something wrong right here? Really can't wait no more! Really gonna be the longest week of the year!?

My MacBook Air 13" BTO is only 45 minutes away from being delivered and I'm jumping out of my skin in excitement. For those of you who don't know, most BTO's (or so I've been told) ship from China directly via FedEX. Mine was shipped from Shanghai and took less than a week from the original shipping date. Have fun everyone :) The wait is almost over for many of us ^_^.

13"/8gb/128ssd

First post on the forums... long-time lurker...
ordered my 13" MBA 8gbRAM 128SSD on June 20th at 1pm CST (Texas). Shipped today (June 22). Scheduled delivery by 1030am June 27. Woohoo.
This is a replacement for a 2011 13" 2.3 i5 MBP that I managed to just sell on Craigslist for $1100 (pretty much what I paid for it a year ago). Really looking forward to the SSD and lightweight size.

Ordered MBA 13" i7, 8 gig and 256 ssd

on the 19th, webisite says delivered to my local store by 6/29.
Tried to expedite but since going to store, no such luck.

I guess it's too early for them to stock my configuration.
Thanks to all of you on this board - my first mac. I'm excited

Just picked up a 13" MBA :) that replaced my dying Gateway laptop.
Liking it so far except for the Boot Camp Assistant/Software Update that keeps on hanging up. Hopefully I can get Windows 7 to work for school.

Just got it!

I ordered the MBA 13in base with 8GB upgrade in store on Monday evening, and I picked up on Friday afternoon. This thing is faster than my 2009 iMac 27in! CS6 Illustrator opens in 7 seconds!

13" Order placed

Well, I took my 2012 Mac Pro money and just ordered a 13" base with 8 gig of ram (and did the $14.00 shipping since I want it sooner...)

It will be interesting to see how it compares to my now upgraded 2006 Mac Pro with the x5355s in it.

I'm going to pair it with a refurb Thunderbolt display I think and I ordered the STM Alley case for it and my iPad to live in harmony.....

Waiting is the hardest part...this will be my first laptop since selling the first unibody 2008 15" Pro 2.53 C2D....which the battery life was terrible...looking forward to a ~7hr run time, up from 2hrs.....

Woke up to find my old early 2007 Macbook Pro was completely FUBAR, battery not charging & fans not cutting on, rendering the entire machine to be a literally untouchable hot slab of metal. I had been planning on ordering my 13" MBA 1.8/8GB/128 within the next few weeks, so I decided to go ahead and bite the bullet before I ended up without a portable at all. Expedited shipping, so it delivers to my door between Friday the 29th and next Tuesday, July 3rd. I should get my Magsafe2 converter and gift card by Wednesday; one I'll be using immediately, the other will be a fancy little aluminum paper weight for a a few days. :p

Was hoping to find the i7, 8gb, 256gig in stock at the Apple stores, but no such luck. I went ahead and placed the order at the Apple Online store about 3 hours ago. Delivers between July 2 and July 5!

Wow! Just had some really nice customer service. Called up Apple’s online store customer service and the representative said she’d go ahead and give me expedited shipping for free. It’ll be here between June 29 and July 3!

Love that service :D

So we are extremely similar situation. I ordered and pay extra so it shows 29th to july 3rd as estimated time of arrival. Hope that it will ship sooner than later. Refreshing apple.com like it's going out of style.

Talk about timing.

My brand new 11/2.0 i7/8G/128G arrived the same time as my JoliOriginals brown/orange sleeve.

I ordered my 13"/8GB RAM/128GB SSD model on June 20th, and the status just went from "Preparing for Shipment" to "Shipped" this morning. According to FedEx, it was picked up from Apple in Shanghai on Jun 25, 2012 at 10:13 AM, and is expected to be delivered to me (in Texas) the morning of June 27th. (I did pay the additional charge for expedited shipping.)
