but my fiancee is trying to steal it.

It will be theirs once you marry anyway. Don't worry, you'll get used to it.

I supplemented my 128gb MacBook Air 11 with a 128gb Lexar S45 micro USB drive. I leave it in at all times, it's so small, I hardly know it's there. Pics and music get stored on the Lexar, leaving plenty of room on the internal SSD.

Went Lexar route because of heat issues with the Sandisk variations(First hand experience, plenty of info if you choose to google). Lexar's stay cool as a cucumber. Both drives are 3.0 smoking fast(literally for the Sandisk).

I think I paid 34 dollars for the Lexar when it was on sale at Bestbuy.

Best

thanks.

my fiancee has a 13" first gen air but slow as hell.

this air is to replace my 2010 a1342 which now has a keyboard with dud keys.
other than the ssd size it is prefect machine.

usb drive might be a good temp solution but rather have larger internal.
also looking at a larger capacity battery, which be good for work as sometimes could be on site for a while with no power.

I bought a 13" 2014 MacBook Air, 8GB Ram, 128GB SSD, i5 1.4GHz for ~$300. Overall, I like it It has 195 cycles and has AppleCare until August 2017. At what point would Apple replace the battery?

But so far it's running great and I've had it off the AC power since around 3PM and it is now 7 hours later and at 54% with Youtube and web surfing. Perfectly adequate for my needs. Went with the MBA primarily (as in the main reason) for the battery life being ~12 hours.

I have a Surface Pro 3 and a Retina iPad and am used to higher resolution screens and whatnot; The Air's screen isn't bad and I am not complaining. Sure, it could be IPS-based but I am finding the colors and viewing angles to be just fine.

Some little features I love about MacOS (Sierra) is the right click on Youtube videos to do picture in picture. I'm primarily a Windows 10 user and this is a great touch. I also have not heard the fans come on in the Air at all. On my SP3, I hear it almost all the time.

Yes. :)

It's been a few days later and while the size is pretty large, I don't mind it at all. It's crazy thin and just works.

Finally got my 11" MacBook Air that I was always thinking of getting. I had to go the eBay route, as I could not find it from Apple's refurbished store. I got the 2015 model i7 with 8gb Ram and a 256 SSD drive. I feel like I bought a brand new unit, as this thing is in immaculate condition with only 10 power cycles. I paid $996 which I felt was a very good price. It is out of warranty with no Apple Care, but that is no problem for me as I'm a past IT guy and can work on these if need be, plus the MacBook Airs are built very well.

I have to say that the 11" inch with these specs are awesome. This laptop really performs well. I've been running some game emulators on it (OpenEmu and Dolphin) and it runs them very well. Also, I tested some Steam games on it and again, it runs well, although that is the only time I noticed the fan kicking in. Otherwise, this thing is quiet. My wife has the 2015 13" i5 with 4gb Ram and 128 SSD and my daughter has a mid 2013 11" i5 with 4gb Ram and 256 SSD and they both love them.

The one thing that I did immediately to mine is the color calibration fix/change from the Ultralinx website, and this made a huge difference in my opinion. The screen looks so much better now. All in all, I believe this is the perfect laptop for portability and performance and it is built really well. Pick these MacBook Airs up while you can, because I believe they will be phased out and they truly are a special computer.

Placed an order last week for the current MacBook Air (2015 model). I decided to take the opportunity to order the 2.2GHz i7 version now that they come with 8GB of RAM standard. I opted for the 256GB SSD - I've found that 128GB is a bit tight for capacity and that having a 250GB SSD in my old MacBook Pro (non-retina) was plenty. Maybe I'll upgrade it later with an after-market kit.

This is the first new computer that I've owned since 2011 and my last new computer (I still have it) was a rather under-powered HP Mini 5102 Netbook PC (10.1" screen probably contributed to my deteriorating eye sight!) Processing power always was rather pathetic on the old netbook. Now I have a nice one with an i7 CPU on its way.

Hello everyone, I just purchased a 2015 11" Air with an LG panel. I love it but I'm curious about the custom color calibration profile that was mentioned in this thread. I went to the Ultralinx website but it appears the download link to the profile is no longer active. Does anyone know where I can find an active link? Thanks in advance!

When I first got my MBA 2014, and did the command line thing to determine the panel (Samsung), I looked at the profiles built-in and noticed default, my display was a lot more yellow. Now grays are more gray and it looks more natural.

Lastly, which panel is better: LG or Samsung on these MBA ?

Bought a new 13" i5 128 GB MBA last week at a local MediaMarkt (something like BestBuy) here in Switzerland for 799 Swiss Francs (= 799 US$), and I'm very happy with it. I also bought and installed a Nifty MiniDrive cardholder and a 200 GB Sandisk MicroSD card for Time Machine and extra storage. All works just perfectly.
Going to use the MBA when traveling and "on the couch"
I already have a iMac "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 20" (Mid 2007) but he's getting a bit old and slow, but still does the job.
I'm surprised by the fresh nimbleness of my new purchase. :)

Just bought a refurb MBA 256/8 for $1200 Canadian. I was debating whether to get the refurb MacBook 256/8 or the refurb MBA 256/8 and decided that, I don't really need a Retina display because much of the time I have my laptop connected to an external display. On the go, I'd also prefer the keyboard of a MacBook Air.

And I'm actually typing on a rMBP 2013, but it only has 128GB hard drive and 4gb ram. The battery life is starting to worsen also. So instead of upgrading to the new rMBP I got the refurb air! The processor is a downgrade but I really need more hard drive space and ram for recording music. I'm hoping to sell my MacBook Pro 2013 for $1000-1100 Canadian. So the hard drive/ram/battery upgrade will only cost me 100-$200.

The new rMBP were out of the question because they were too expensive for me right now, even the refurbs. Plus I don't like the type-c dongle issue and keyboard issues.

I also saved about $200 compared to the 12" MacBook refurb. I've seen the airs in Best Buy and I think they're great machines. I hope apple keeps making these lower resolution cheaper laptops but everyone seems to be saying they are going to be discontinued. Oh, well. I got mine before it happened.:)

I picked up a refurb MBA Mid-2013 i7/256/8gb for $525 and love it. My last MacBook was a 2008 MacBook Pro that I fried the video chip on running hacked Yosemite. Totally my fault. This machine has been great and I love being on the new OS.

I've been using my new MacBook Air for a few weeks for University, and I must say that the long battery life is most impressive. I use my Mac Pro at home and the Air is just for when I need to go mobile - often I don't need to recharge for 2 or 3 days at a time.

Got my 2012 air yesturday.

i5 4gb ram and 64gb ssd, 11"

it is great and as I thought it might it out performs my 13" 2010 macbook.

small screen has not posed any issues yet, but not taken it to work yet either.

the ssd size is going be an issue so will get a 256GB drive as soon as can afford it.
In mean time will keep files to a minimum.

bought used on ebay only 18 charge cycles and 96% health.

I'm very happy :)

but my fiancee is trying to steal it.

May I asked what the price was on it?

I could not wait any longer. Picked up a lightly used 2015 MBA 11" 512GB / 8GB with Apple Care through 2018 for $1150 this weekend.

Jealous of some of the other prices people have picked them up for here, but am glad to have found one at all really.

So glad to have a stand in machine, when the Macbook Pro 13" was not right for me and the 12" Macbook update is MIA.
