Great info! Thanks! I was hoping my MBA would be on the current 5X11 flight to Cologne (I live in Amsterdam) but my origin scan is from around the time the flight took off and then there’s departure scan about an hour later, so I guess it’ll be on tomorrow’s flight? Can you help me figure this out? 🙃

You are too early, as it looks yours ain't went through customs yet, that step is coming next.
Also notice that 5X11 is just the callsign, meaning even if the current machine doesn't have your MBA and is on the way back to Seoul (as 5X20 I guess), there's already a new 5X11 arriving in Shanghai as 5X10 changing to 5X11 for your package.
this step should be visible as at least arrival / departure in korea. In the most cases (all for me) UPS does not mark it as departed from China but that could also come up, meaning it is definitely in 5X11

My old orders always were
- prior steps in EPZ
- cleared import customs
- arrived at (Zhengzhou)
- arrived at (Incheon, Korea) (few minutes after 5X11 landed in Seoul)
- departed at (Incheon, Korea) (also in time with 5X11)
- arrived at (Cologne, Germany) (few minutes after 5X11 landed in Cologne)
- destination scan
- out for delivery
- delivered

This was for my iPhone, M1 MBA, M2 MBA and my wife's iPad

My order is now in delivery (Germany). I could track the way very well with UPS flights. The update was mostly shown in the tracking 1-2 hours later after takeoff or landing.

ZhengZhou, China -> Incheon, Korea (UPS Flight 5X173)
Incheon, Korea -> Cologne, Germany (UPS Flight 5X11)

Ugh! My original delivery date was 7/25 through 8/1. I got the shipping notification on 7/18 with a delivery date of 7/21. UPS didn’t update for two days and when it finally did it says, “Own the Way…Shanghai China” And now the delivery date is unknown. I didn’t get that mechanical failure notification though, so I have no idea what happened.

The original Starlight 10/16/512 that my wife ordered on the 7/8 should now deliver today. Originally slated for delivery on Monday (per UPS), it has pushed out to today due to multiple clearance delays in Louisville. It still arrives 1 day early from Apple's quoted 7/21.

Meanwhile, she's had her 10/16/1TB model since Friday 7/15. This box likely won't even be opened, and will head back to UPS once it arrives. I'm learning quickly that if you're in proximity to a store for these types of launches - the lower demand means you could get an upgraded model without having to wait on UPS. Even my MBP 14" had UPS delays that prevented my launch day delivery in October. First world probs, but certainly learned a bit between these experiences.

Good news my order has moved forward as it was showing 1st - 8th August.
UK based order.

What specification did you order? I'm also in the UK, got (and still have) 1-8 August, but ordered the Midnight with 24/512

I ordered within 5 minutes of the Air's being made available!

I'm thinking the 24GB option has delayed these slightly.

I didn't preorder until July 13. I ordered a Starlight Air M2 with maxed storage/memory/cores (I replace my computer every 5-7 years when it stops being supported, and I've learned that maxing helps the computer a lot near end-of-life) from the US Apple Education store. Original date was August 4 for pickup from store. This morning, I saw that I had received a "we can't charge your card" text. I fixed that, and it's now listed as "shipped to store" — so it'll probably be here in a few days.

I also purchased from the EDU store, different specs, and I'm still stuck with the Aug 2-9th eta. I'm hoping it will change soon. I've wondered if the edu orders hold less of a priority getting built, and sent out. I've seen no charge or any movement and I've restrained myself from going to look at the physical one in the store because it'll just make me more impatient. lol. ;)
Midnight, 10/16/1tb/67w.

Exact same story here. 8/16/256 Starlight model. Starting to fear Apple’s initial estimate was closer to reality:/

Mine is also Edu. Only difference between our orders is color and SSD size. 🤷

From what I've seen in this thread, the Midnight ones are delayed, and the Starlight and traditional colors are shipping out faster. I wonder if the cases are the manufacturing bottleneck. It does nobody any good for the factory to have the internal hardware if there's nothing to put it in. I got Starlight because I wanted a cheerful bright color, but it does seem to be a less popular option here.

I experienced the same clearance delays in Louisville. It finally got to ATL early this morning and will be delivered later today.

Glad your wife is enjoying her 16/1TB Starlight! I'm getting the same one, though I opted for the 8-core GPU.

My BTO Starlight 8/24GB/1TB ordered July 11 with July 26-Aug 2 date just updated to Preparing to Ship! I hope this is a good sign of it arriving earlier than expected!! Hopefully it does not sit in this stage for a few days.

Just checked my order status on the Apple website and it has shifted to preparing to ship. The estimated delivery window has also moved up by a day to August 1–8. BTO Midnight 10/24/512 pre-order that was placed right when sales opened on July 8.

Edit: Correct order date to July 8 instead of July 15.

I don't think I've seen anyone in the US mention any movement on a midnight BTO with the 8 core GPU. Truly regretting my decision to save $100 this wait is excruciating lol. COME ON AUG 2-9

That’s exactly my thought. I got 1TB and 16GB, but just the 8 core. I’m also Aug 2-9 and just wondering when my time will come!

Seems like everyone on here ordered a configuration of at least 16/512. I opted for 16/256 and am starting to wonder if that’s going to be ok. I had 256 in my 2016 MBP, which was fine for me. I don’t mind having to use external storage, and I don’t plan on doing a lot of things that involve heavy read/write actions. Also, won’t 16GB of RAM significantly minimize the possibility of the OS have to rely on the slower SSD for additional memory (and the possible performance impacts that might have)? I really didn’t want to spend more than a $1000 for a new laptop so $1400 is bad enough but my order hasn’t shipped yet so just trying to decide what to do.

I posted earlier with the same clearance delays, in Memphis, TN. Happy to say mine finally cleared after a day and updated back to in transit with an arrival date of this Friday to NY. Midnight 10/16/512. I already initiated the return on it. I’ll get about a week to try it out and decide if I can deal with the fingerprints or return it for a Space Grey or even Silver if that also has bad fingerprint reviews.

It depends on what your needs are. I had 512GB in my 2016 MBP and I’m always in need for more space. I’ve got 3 external SSD disks connected totaling 2,5TB but more internal room is always nice. So I’ve ordered the 1TB version.

Then again my needs are possibly not average. I need quite some space for instrument patches in Logic Pro X for the midi keyboard. And I develop software so I need space for virtual machines.

Is it worrisome that UPS tracking still says "On the way: Shanghai, China" and "Estimated Delivery: Friday, July 22" and that I'm in North Carolina? 😂

I sometimes forget just how amazing modern shipping and logistics is...
Until it leaves China, the delivery date is meanlingless
