Surprise delivery!
Pre-ordered a 16/512/Starlight/fast charge within a minute of preorder opening. Received a July 21-24 delivery window. Cool. Yesterday, my dog starts going nuts and my daughter comes to me and says “the delivery guy needs your signature.” Confused, I got up and started walking to the front door, thinking (or muttering aloud) “I’m not expecting any packages today. WTF?” The guy handed me the smallest box and I was still confused. Once I stepped inside, it hit me. Wait… Already?!? Sure enough. 3 days early. Under-promise, over-deliver. Works for me!
Initial unboxing reactions?
The thing is a real beaut. While I personally would have opted for the Midnight, this starlight is fresh. Clean. Feels like the future. Offers nice contrast between chassis and keys. LOVE the flat edge aesthetic so much more than the tapered (yeah yeah, the tapered’s iconic). I have an iPad mini 6 and the flat-edge is sick. Would love to see this language spread across the entire hardware offering (I’m looking at you, Watch). The laptop is insanely light (sure, there’s lighter?) but it hits that perfect balance between feeling significant in-hand without feeling heavy. Classic Apple build quality and masterful weight distribution. The entire package is so thin… Pretty amazing engineering all around.
This is my wife’s MBA, and set up was a breeze. Logged into iCloud, set up TouchID and boom - she was up and running. Launched Mail, Notes, Messages, etc and all of her data populated within a couple of minutes. So far, it’s already an incredible upgrade from her 2013 12” MBP.

Has anyone who ordered a 10/24/512 Midnight seen any updates to their order? I placed mine within 2 minutes of preorders going live and it’s still stuck on processing.
I've got mine (8/10/24/1TB Midnight) being shipped to an Apple store near where I work. No updates. My receipt from Apple is marked at July 8, 8:04 AM EDT. Estimated delivery Aug 9.

Payment taken, and status changed to 'Shipping' on the 15th.

Expected delivery date is the 25th.

BTO 10/24/1TB Midnight (order in at 8:04 AM EDT 7/8), initial estimate August 9, went from Processing to Shipping to Store overnight on 7/16, with a timeframe shown as "2 to 3 weeks". This morning it has changed to Pickup on July 22. 🎉
This give me hope! Being in the US with the same config and initial shipping for Aug 2-9, hopefully I'm just a day or so behind you!

Same config here as well. I placed order 1 hour after Apple started accepting orders.

YMMV, but on my order it went from "processing" to "preparing to ship" on 7/12 and to "shipped" on 7/14.
I ordered a Midnight 8/10/16/512 with original delivery date of Aug 2-9th. When I finally got charged a couple days ago. It updated to Aug 1-8. Then when I got the tracking # I looked at FedEx it said July 28th delivery. Yesterday I checked FedEx and it updated to July 22nd, hurray! Today I check FedEx and am in the same boat. “Clearance Delay - Import” with a delivery day of pending. This sucks because it was just in transit from Memphis, TN. I hope all is well and it arrives here in NY on one of those previously mentioned dates. Especially because I already initiated a return for it yesterday because of all the midnight fingerprint reviews, I want to order a Space Grey version. But I also wanted to try it out first for a week to see if that actually bothers me. My return window has already begun and I’m missing out on a few days of testing time.

I'm now 5 days past being charged/shipped, and UPS My Choice is still telling me it will arrive in 24 hours (7/20 between 2:45-4:45pm EST) even though Apple says July 26-August 2, but UPS is also saying it is still in China. I don't know what to believe--even though I want to believe UPS's delivery estimate.
Mine went straight from processing to shipped today, but one thing that hinted to me that it was about to ship was the charge showing up on my Apple Card this weekend. Might want to check your statement/transaction log, because they don’t seem to actually charge the card until the machine is ready to ship.

As dumb as that sounds, but they may forgot your package or it was full. Either that, your parcel was the unlucky one, or the aircraft is brokenVery sad
