I got the midnight color, but the starlight looks beautiful! Specs?

Thanks. I'm happy with my choice. I have noticed the trackpad appears slightly different in tone than the aluminum
body. Might be a difference in materials, but not a problem.

Had a little accident with my old laptop monday night involving a drink and a dead laptop. Just ordered a 15 mba base model to replace it, my laptop is primarily used as a media consumption device so base will do just fine, got a desktop for the heavy lifting/gaming.

I currently have both a 15" MBA and a 14" M2 MBP in my possession and yes the click of the trackpads are definitely different, the MBA sounds more solid, also the keyboards are slightly different.

I couldn't be more thrilled with my new, refurbished silver M2 MBA 16/512.

I started with a base 8/256, but I quickly returned it upon learning about the half-speed base SSD.

Starlight was my first color choice, but I decided on classic silver - after momentarily being enticed by Midnight Blue.

It's a gorgeous piece of kit - especially coming from an ol' 2011 MacBook Pro 13".

I opened so many browser tabs and various apps, and never had memory pressure turn yellow - I really hate paying Apple for their outrageous upgrade prices; but the 16/512 was a no-brainer for optimal performance.

After replacing the USB-C board on my M1 MBA and getting a 2015 15" MBP up and running, I took the plunge and decided to replace the MBA with a base model 15" MBA. Should be arriving tomorrow, very stoked!

Aaand here it is! Haven't had it for 24 hours yet, but so far there's been zero downsides after trading in my M1 MBA. Battery life is amazing (only just got down to 50% after fully charging it last afternoon), speakers are amazing, and considering the weight is spread out pretty well I haven't noticed the extra bulk. This one's a keeper for sure.

Now I just gotta convince my mom to ditch her 2017 nTB Pro and get one of these...

I currently own an MBA M2 8GB/512GB. It wasn't 'slow' but I did occasionally notice a bit of hangup when browsing heavily or using certain applications. Additionally, being as I'm 47, I found myself missing my 14" form factor laptop (last one owned prior to the MBA was a ThinkPad T480s) a bit more than usual.

Anyways...between a trade-in and a veteran's discount, just bought an MBP M2 Pro 16GB/512GB yesterday and ended up paying just over $1K. Half off ain't bad. :)

After years of waiting, I finally gave in and ordered the M2 13.6” 16GB RAM/512GB SSD. I usually follow the Buyers Guide and would’ve loved to wait it out for the M3 but I just had to replace my early 2015 MacBook Retina 12”. I resisted this change for so long and I’m hoping the M3 is not right around the corner.

Does anyone know how long does Apple take to ship these custom orders to NY? I ordered on 13 Sep and estimated delivery is 26 - 28 Sep. Any chance I can hope for it to arrive sooner?

Bought a base starlight 13 MBA for $899 at BestBuy. Now I have a starlight iPhone 13 Mini, and a starlight Apple Watch Series 8. As soon as they update the iPad Mini I will be set. Currently have the pink iPad Mini 6. Maybe in Oct 2023.

Be aware that the M3 chip will be released within the next 6 months before April 2024.

1st Mac to get it before April 2024 would be

- MBA 13"/15"
- MBP 13"
- iPad Pro 11"/12.9"
- iMac

Source or it didn't happen.
Apple Mac chip timeline

- M1: 10 Nov 2020
- M2: 24 Jun 2022
- M3: Q1 2024

Refresh cycle between Mac chips is 19.5 months.

19.5 months after M2 is Feb 2024 that is within Q1 2024.

Accounting for supply chain supply & demand, M3 will be out before Apr 2024 which marks Q2 2024.

M3 is Apple's highest volume Mac chip. It cannot be delayed any further than Q1 2024.

Another reason for the immediacy would be increased availability of 3nm fabs when the Christmas sales of iPhones softens. Apple has reserved capacity and the M3's the chip to use it when A17 Pro demand lessens.

My comment only matters if the person reading this has the luxury to delay purchase up to 6 more months. If not then buy whatever you want on your schedule.

Any questions? Just ask.

Just got the M2 13 Air. Just not sure if my specs are 'unbalanced'

I use it for personal use, college work, and streaming movies, and videos.

got 24 GB of Ram w/ 256 SSD..

Since I have an external, I save all my pics/stuff there anyways.. Should I have gotten the 512??

That 24GB RAM is great, relax about the smaller SSD, it is enough and fast enough for most usage patterns.
Of course, more and faster is better, but it is a trade off as it's expensive. I have the 1TB SSD but it is almost a waste, as I onlu use about 150GB. On my iMac, running the RC, the internal SSD is a 128GB older Apple blade, slower than anything in a modern laptop, and still the computer is very usable, thanks to the OCLP devs!
Don't overthink it, just use it and in the next few years, if you find you need more storage space, sell the current M2 and buy an M3!:)
