How do you customize a refurbished MacBook from the Apple Store? There’s no way to customize these; how they’re sold is how they come.
I must have bought one like that just came that way. I like having 16 GB of RAM and I wanted 512 GB for storage purposes. I just started school and I needed a computer so I splurged and bought it. Of course that means I keep my iPhone 12 for at least another year or two. The computer is worth that though.

Don't worry. You're not missing much with the latest iPhones. As long as your 12 keeps working, you're fine.

When making your purchase you're selecting various options. If your local store has those in stock you'll get the ability to purchase it and pick it up. Otherwise it's made with your selected options and shipped to you. Hence why when you usually select anything than the base stock options it'll take two-three weeks.

Well I have received my new MBA M2 (Grey) yesterday , setting up was a bit of a pain but  was great helping me out with the transfer and now all looks good ! I had already changed the battery from my old MBA from 2015 once and as I had to do it again I thought it was time to finally change . I now need to get used to Ventura but so far so good ;-)

Same here, setting it all up for my wife as we speak.
The only problem I have encountered is I that I need to transfer windows for Mac via migration assistant and I need to know how to go about it as it failed few times so far.

It failed the first time for me and the nice guy from  said it was because the last Ventura update had not been done .
I did the update and then all went fine even if the transfer was long . HTH
PS : The best it to phone  , they are great , very helpful .The guy I talked to made a screen share with my iPhone so I could show him the screens of both computers , old and new .

I ordered a Macbook Air M2 with 8/16/256 on May 15th. For the first time (for me), Apple shipped it with DHL, going to Texas, USA. Right now, it shows that it has completed clearance processing and has departed DHL facility Hong Kong - Hong Kong SAR, China. So far, there is no estimated delivery date given on DHL’s end. Apple indicates anywhere from May 26 - 30th. I hope it arrives earlier than that, since I’m suffering from “kid at Christmas” syndrome, lol.

As stated, I’ve never had anything from Apple shipped with DHL. It’s always been UPS or FedEx. I’ve rarely even seen a DHL vehicle in my area.

My question is, does anyone who has had their package delivered to the US by DHL know where the next stop is? Would it be Anchorage like UPS? I’m just trying to get some idea when to expect my new toy so that I can arrange to have the day off, if necessary. I am totally ignorant regarding their delivery process. Any help or ideas are appreciated!

Update: Arrived in Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturday, May 20 at 00:14 and cleared Customs at 03:06 the same day. There is no indication of a delivery date, estimated or otherwise. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Monday or Tuesday, since those are my days off. Besides, the suspense is killing me, lol.

Just joined the club with a M1 Macbook Air, base model, 8Gb ram. Am a bit worried 8Gb isn't enough with Safari with two tabs open, Plex and the LastPass app open - I was using 5Gb of RAM :|

It's plenty. MacOS is based on Unix. Unix is designed to use as much RAM as available so will just keep things in memory until it's all used up, even if it's not really necessary to do so.

I knew that and should know better.. Thanks for the clarification :) Unused RAM is a waste.. and I'm sure OSX is better at RAM management than Windows
Use the Activity Monitor app (in the Applications/Utilities folder) to check the system memory usage. The important visual check point sign is the "Memory Pressure". If it's green you are OK, yellow is getting near the limit and red is no good. I have 16GB and have never even seen yellow. Your system may still be indexing the disk, spotlight etc.

Just ordered the 15” MacBook Air in Midnight, 16gb RAM and 1TB SSD.

Shopped everything from the 2020 MacBook Air base to MacBook Pro 14”. Settled on 16gb/512GB, but they didn’t have any stock and it said it would deliver only on July 5th-7th, which makes it weird because I am moving before then! So in the last minute, just sprung for 1TB. Apple surely got me good. Honestly for my use case base spec is probably fine, but I’m hoping this will last me a while without issue.

Also first time using the monthly plan. After my trade in (200$) and some gift cards, I’m at $130 bucks a month interest free which seems like a good deal. Seems addicting to buy like this ;).

This is replacing an intel i5 2017 MacBook Pro without Touch Bar. This computer was absolutely horrible. Keyboard issues, overheating, fans sounding like jets taking off. Reminded me of my old ****** 500$ PCs from the 2000s before we switched to Mac, can’t believe this was an apple flagship product.

Hopefully this new air is better. Already thinking of pairing this with a brand new iPad Pro!

You don't have to hope about that! The M2 MBA is one of Apple's "best so far" creations. Good screen great keyboard and above all it is fast, it literally never makes you wait for anything. I have the 13" and even with several browser tabs open, Word and Excel open and a dictionary or 2 in use, this thing is so responsive. Best Mac I have owned (since 1998!).

Just ordered the 15” M2 MacBook Air in Starlight. Upgrades: 24GB memory and 1TB SSD storage.

I opted for the 70W USB-C Power Adapter. I wanted the fastest charging. I didn't need the Dual USB-C Port.

I needed a new laptop. My current laptop is a 2017 MacBook Air, 8GB memory, 128GB SSD storage. I also have a 2020 M1 Mac mini, 16GB memory, 500GB SSD storage.

I compared the 15" M2 MacBook Air to the M2 MacBook Pros. I didn't need the better CPUs in the pros; the MacBook Air has sufficient CPU and GPU for what I need. Besides, I didn't want to spend "MacBook Pro" money on a laptop.:)

I chose the 24GB because my current computer, a 2020 M1 Mac mini, at 16GB, runs out of memory more often than I would like. So, hence, the upgrade.

I chose the 1TB SSD storage because I wanted to make sure that I was getting as much speed as possible. It's been reported that 15" M2 MacBook Airs with the base configuration (8GB memory, 256GB SSD) are slower than 15" M2 MacBook Airs with 512 SSD. Also, I remember watching a YouTube video, (sorry, I don't have a link) in which the YouTuber explains that even an upgrade to 512GB isn't enough. I recall him saying that, in order to get the fastest speed, you need a MacBook Air upgraded to at least the 1TB SSD storage. I didn't mind spending the money to get the fastest speed.

I am keeping my Mac mini, and I will use it as a server and do most of my computing on the MacBook Air.

Just visited the Apple Store at CentralWorld in Bangkok and got a MacBook Air 15” 16GB/1TB in Space Grey.

They allow VAT refund here for foreign visitors so it works out to be cheaper than buying in California, about $190 less. The Education discount here is about $145 + free AirPods (3rd Generation).

Replaced a 2018 13” MacBook Air Retina.

I'd love to know how much you can do smoothly with that combination of processor, ram and storage. It's not the cheapest option but I think it's a combination that has been overlooked by many and could potentially be all one needs - even for some fairly heavy lifting.

Same config I went with for my 15" MBA... it's the perfect machine for what I actually need from a laptop. My previous Pros were all about "max it out JUST IN CASE", and none of those scenarios ever came to fruition. I've never once pulled my laptop out on a plane and needed to finish some 8k video work. Kept justifying stuff in my head, only to end up with the world's most powerful Word editor and furious-email-that-I-couldn't-type-as-fast-on-my-phone-or-overpowered-iPad-Pro sending machine.

Great idea! I bought the best I could afford, 13" 8/8/16/1TB, and this is the best Mac I have ever had (best since at least 1998!). This computer never slows me down, and the keyboard is absolutely the best! With 15" and 24GB RAM you can't go wrong! Sell your old MBPs, you'll never need them (well keep one just as a backup machine, maybe).

This would have arrived today (3 July), but had to reschedule DHL delivery for tomorrow as we weren’t home, so it will/should now arrive tomorrow (4 July) instead. So would’ve been 7 days from order to delivery, which is a bit faster than I expected.

I'd love to know how much you can do smoothly with that combination of processor, ram and storage.
Will let you know when I’ve had some chance to test things out. Got a bit of a busy week coming up so will take me a little while.

I suppose I'm cheating slightly as its a used one I brought on ebay, but just ordered a Macbook Air M1. Its 256GB SSD, 8GB in Space Grey. Apparently running Big Sur at present according to the listing so I'll have to update that, probably try it with Sonoma seeing as everyone's speaking highly of it. Hopefully be here any day now.

I ordered an M2 13" 1TB/8B MacBook Air in Silver from the Apple Refurb Store this weekend and it should arrive on Thursday! I'm really excited. I have been running low on SSD space for a while on my 2012, and the fans blaring for things like Twitch streams have been really annoying, so I'm excited to upgrade. It's funny that Sonoma brings interactive widgets back, and so I won't have to live without them on the new Mac for very long. :p My 2012 Air has served me well, and I'll probably still end up using it for something or another. :)
