Don't forget dust magnet too, you really see everything! I read all that I could read about the issue, and it's just a tradeoff. I use mine in low lighting more than bright lights, and I dig it's a completely new color compared to the silver and space greys I've had over the years. It's pretty slick.
I really wanted the midnight but I'm glad I got the space gray instead. I can't stand fingerprints.

I have used Apple computers for more than 35 years, and the M2 MBA 13" is by far the best ever! Never slows you down, great keyboard, and despite the smaller screen I can get my work done without any issues. Editing Powerpoint files requires some rearranging the screen from the default to More Space, and magnifying the various parts of the file, but that is easy to do. All in all, I am sure you will enjoy it!

The M2 is an impressive machine... but I got the 15"... that extra 2" makes a world of difference...

let us know if worth the upgrade for you / your thoughts!
So far it's pretty good. I like the updated design and the screen is great. I rarely notice the notch. Performance is probably the same but the main reason I got a new one was due to my previous MBA not having warranty anymore. I get my tech through Best Buy so most of the time AC+ is free for me and I usually get my devices open box so I get a heavy discount

I just got the 15" M2 to replace my 13" M2 and its great! The extra screen real estate is awesome. Though the laptop seems huge carrying it around, but I'm getting used to it as its really not that much bigger than the 13". I've been ignoring the mushy keyboard / rough trackpad threads because I don't need that in my life. The laptop seems perfectly fine to me!

Just brought a new 15" M2 Air in to my life... I have to say, it feels a little faster than the 27" Late 2012 iMac i7 that I've been using.

Have there been some hardware upgrades that target performance? :D

My new 15" M2 Air 16GB and 512GB arrived on Monday much to my excitement... my first ever MacBook too. And then so did the announcement of the new Apple event with suspected M3 chips! So it's still sat in the box it was delivered in now until I see what gets announced on Monday night. Frustrating? You bet!

You have read the predictions? New MacBook Pro models, 13", 14" and 16". No MBAs. If you need a computer now, use that M2 MBA, it will astonish you with its speed and ease of use. Of course the new M3 machines will be faster, according to the benchmarks, but the M2 series is already faster than the user by far. The M2 13" MBA I have never keeps me waiting, it's very responsive and has the best Apple keyboard I have ever used. If you will not be doing extensive video editing or high end sound production, where the use of fans is required and thus a MBP or Studio etc., is necessary, you will never benefit by the MBP. The M2 Air is more than enough for most users. You knew that when you ordered a MBA rather than a MBP, didn't you? That's my personal opinion, of course, you are certainly welcome to entertain different concepts.

Yup, read all of the predictions and seems more and more likely that will only be iMac and MacBook Pros getting the new M3 chip tonight. The Airs most likely updated Q1 next year. But for the sake of a week it felt worth holding off for, just in case. Completely agree that my M2 Air will be more than sufficient for me, but if they had dropped an M3 in it just mere weeks after buying I'd have of course wanted the latest and greatest. As it stands, it seems I'll finally be opening the box to my new M2 Air 15" tomorrow morning and cracking on with it!

Well... turns out it was worth waiting after all. Despite no Airs being updated with the M3 chip, as expected, the introduction of the M3 in the Pro meant that this morning I was able to pick up a 14" MacBook Pro with the M2 Pro chip and same 16GB ram and 512GB ssd as the Air I'd ordered for £1,689 from the refurb store. So I'm getting a Pro and money back. Seemed a bit of a no brainer. I expect the Pro will be a new machine too with Apple just clearing inventory, or from someone who bought one in the last two weeks. Arrives tomorrow!

M3 Pro is kind of a downgrade from M2 Pro actually. Lower memory bandwidth, literally no CPU upgrade (seriously, Apple's own stats admit this), only a 10% better GPU, less performance cores, and less cores overall even on the highest spec chip. The only upgrades are dynamic caching, mesh shading, raytracing, etc. Not worth it.

Got a new base 13" M2 MacBook Air midnight a few days ago to replace a late 2013 MacBook Pro 16/512. No regret at all. Best MacBook I ever had.
Only time will tell for sure, but somehow I think this M2 13" MBA is one of Apple's best computers. The hardware is great, albeit it does have limitations, ports for example, the keyboard is great, the screen quite good, and the speed is also great. I added an Anker 9 port device with en ethernet 1GB port and two USB-A ports. I don't use the other ports at all. With this setup, the computer never slows me down, quite the opposite I am sure. You made a good decision there!

I’m waiting for the M3s to update my M2 Air but I really think you can’t go wrong with the M2 MacBook Air. Mine has been great for the last 16 months.

I agree with you, it is one of Apple's best computers. I got a base model since it's not my main machine. I'll see how long the 8GB ram can keep up. Right now, this is a pretty fast and responsive computer. Its weight and size makes it way better than any other MacBooks for me.

I just ordered the M2 13 inch MacBook Air in midnight black. The base model. It arrives on Wednesday. I currently have a 2018 MBA which serves me perfectly well. The reason why I decided to upgrade is that my old 2014 that I had passed onto my husband has finally died. I can give my husband my old 2018 MBA because I’m not sharing a laptop with him.

Congratulations! I’ve only had mine for a couple of days, but like it a lot! When setting up a new computer it’s also a great opportunity to get rid of a lot of old cruft that’s hanging around out of pure inertia, things like apps you don’t use, files you’ve long since stopped having any use for and so on. You can get rid of a lot if clutter and start with a clean slate… and it can stay clear and transparent until in due time gravity takes a toll and dust gradually accumulates and one day you need a new computer by which time technology has evolved far enough that the new machine can make your bed and serve you breakfast:)

But seriously, enjoy your MBA, it’s a beaut, I know I enjoy mine!

After many years of back and forth with iPads and Macs I've finally decided to go with the Mac. Sold my 11" iPad Pro and ordered a new M2 Air.

Back to school promotion is now running in Australia. I picked up a silver 13" base processor and upped the RAM to 16gb and SSD to 512gb. Purchased with discounted (10%) Apple Gift Cards. B2S promotion includes an Apple Gift Card which I have already sold.

End result is a 13" Air with 16gb ram and 512gb ssd for slightly less than the cost of a base model. How did I do?!

Amazing! The 13” is more portable, so if you’re going to be on the move a lot, student, executive, whatnot, there’s nothing better. If you need a full computer. Some folks go for iPads as even more portable, but that’s if you can make it work. I’ve tried to just live with an Air 3 for a couple of years, but in the end, I need a computer - the iPadOS and its app ecosystem and workflow limitations are not up to par for my needs. I kept hoping that iPadOS would evolve, but after a couple of years I lost hope with the slow progress and went back to MacOS. I’ll revisit the issue if I see more progress (I bought an iPad 10 for my iPad needs), but for now I’m super happy with the M2 15” MBA.

Enjoy your new laptop!
