Yeah my justification for this was the higher trade in value down the line
Do I need it? No, probably not, but I could afford it so I just went for it.
And sometimes, that's really all the justification we need. 😊

Enjoy! Still dithering between getting the 15" model (and even then, to either stay with the base spec or go all the way to 32gb ram / 1tb storage) or staying with my current M1 MBA, which is still going strong.

I know, doesn't make sense. 😬

Hey guys, my M4 got delivered a few days ago, long time Mac user so I'm all set, but I still only use basic apps, tell me any cool apps, games or anything worthwhile to download. Literally anything any type or genre I don't ever care, just want to see what is out there... thx

I feel annoying when dumb people keep trolling me when i bought M2 when M4 Air is released . I don't know what their idea . I
Is a sin when you buy M2 ?
The M2 is still a great MacBook Air, particularly if you are replacing an Intel model. I’m assuming you got a great price on one now that the M4 is out.

I bet that at least 90% of the people who buy an M4 model won't do anything with it that your M2 can't do.

Kindly advise: bought MacBook Air M2 8GB 18 months ago and working like a charm. Could grab the M4 16Gb with 200 discount in the Netherlands, so pulled the trigger and got it in Sky Blue. M4 will be better dan M2, but is it a good purchase over the M2?

I’ve managed to pick up an 13” M4 24GB 512GB storage for just under £1100. Thing is my m1 air 16GB 512GB storage is still trucking. Decisions, decisions…

The M4 is reportedly 1.5x faster than the M2 in some benchmarks. So from that perspective it is better. You also got to choose the new color, Sky Blue which isn't available on the M2.

I think you will be very happy with your purchase.

My M4 MacBook Air 13 (32/1TB) arrived today, the first MBA since my lovely little 11” all those years ago.

Have come from an M1 MBP 14 and decided the trade off in portability vs 120hz, better speakers, ports etc was worth it for me. Is probably too early to tell if I’m right about that or not though! My thinking is if I miss the MBP I’ll go back to one when (if) the rumoured slim redesign happens in 2026 or if I love the MBA obviously I’ll keep this for however many years.

Either way i guess whichever MacBook we go for is a winner!

Was on the fence. I do have a Windows laptop that I play a couple of games on. But it's also a bit of a weighty slab when I carry it around. Was considering an M4 Air that I could more easily schlep around and still play the occasional game in a pinch on it.

So since we might be entering an era of tariff wars, decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on a 15" M4 Macbook Air (24/512GB) in Midnight before any potential price increases. I got the 24GB of RAM for a bit of future proofing and for maybe AI stuff later on. As for the disc space, I can always use an external SSD later.

Looking forward to my first Macbook Air.

Was debating between the 14" M4 MBP and the 13" M4 MBA and despite the MBP being a better laptop and $200 off at Microcenter, I ultimately decided to join the MBA family. It's replacing an old intel 15" MacBook Pro and I don't plan to game or watch movies on it so I figured I'd be fine with the screen. Look forward to that smaller footprint and form factor!

It was about time to upgrade after 10 years with an old-school mid-2015 15 inch MBP. I went with the 15 inch Air in the new Sky Blue color together with the 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD upgrades.

The color: it looks like a slightly darker gray in most situations, which I like a lot.

The trackpad: this thing is huge and makes dragging so much easier compared to the cramped version on the mid-2015 MBP.

The keyboard: it is shallower, but I like the fact that the keys are just as large as on my Magic Keyboard. Having full size ESC + function keys is also great, as is the presence of Touch ID.

Overall, I am super happy with this laptop and I think it should last for another decade. I am going to use it for light programming tasks, web browsing, remote sessions to a Windows server and the omnipresent e-mail and messaging apps. The plain M4 is more than enough for my use cases and the 32 GB of RAM along with the spacious SSD should help future-proof this wonderful machine.

Congrats. That is exactly the size, configuration and color I chose.

Just got my new M4 MacBook Air last week;16GB RAM, 1TB storage, in Mitternacht (Midnight?) with the 13“ display.

Given my previous MacBook was a 2016 MacBook (which I’ve passed on to my daughter now) the new MBA is a considerable upgrade, performance is excellent, and the feature that has held me off upgrading before - support for two external monitors - works brilliantly (as I have two 27“ external monitors already).

Love the trackpad and keyboard as well, and TouchID is a welcome feature. Build quality is the usual high standard from Apple.

Man, what a sh** show. PSA that trying to use an E-Gift card toward an order will result in you spending 6 hours at an Apple Store only to be unable to buy the new MacBook Air literally in front of you and instead phone support called by the Apple Store employees themselves then proceeds to screw up an order it to be delivered in a week. They tried to cancel the order but couldn’t.

So yeah, guess I’ll be joining the MBA club soon but this is the last time I buy direct from Apple. I don’t know what is going on with their site but the fact that store employees are essentially calling the same 1-800 number the rest of us call is pretty disappointing. If I went to Best Buy or Micro Center a manager would’ve solved whatever was going on with the gift card easily. But instead it’s a whole ordeal. I guess a lot changed since the pandemic because when I spent $25k on Apple computers for my business at this same store in 2018 it was a pleasure. So much for “it just works.”

An update on this, my 13" M4 MBA with the 16GB/512 TB configuration finally arrived. I use a work-issued 14" M3 Pro MBP for my job so I'm familiar with the experience and debated getting the base M4 14" MBP version for my own personal use to replace my old 15" MBP. So far, I absolutely LOVE the 13" MBA Air experience and don't regret passing on the 14" MBP.

Since it's in clamshell mode more than half of the time, I don't miss the MBP's screen or ports. When it's open, it's such a great experience using a lightweight laptop either on my lap or at a table. The experience is still smooth enough and good enough for me as well despite the lack of ProMotion.

While the 14" is chunkier but it's honestly not that bad bulk-wise. However, the 13" being lighter and thinner is just so awesome to move around or travel with. The form factor was what I was looking forward to the most and it's met my expectations so far.

The only thing I'm still adjusting to is using apps side-by-side on that 13" screen when it's open. It was definitely easier on my 15" MBP and somewhat manageable on the 14" MBP. Thankfully again it's not too often that the lid is open though.

I've been a MBP guy since 2011 and still remember the thick 17" version. It's amazing that we can get such a powerful machine in a lightweight 13" form factor now.

I've just ordered, for the princely sum of £40.44 delivered, an A1465 11.6" MBA. It will be needing a new battery, and is a bit scuffed, but I'll call that a win. I like this form factor, and have two Asus notebooks of the same size and resolution, as well as the 2011 i7 version of the MBA.

Good price for an epic MBA.
What system does it run?
