One must have fallen of Santa's sled (or some warehouse shelf), got a shipping notice tonight with arrival tomorrow...
Yay arrived on the same day as the Hagibis Dock (with included SSD enclosure). Had some issues with the Language / Keyboard settings, Drive going to sleep and some stupid screensaver (both are on by default)
Now it runs like a charm. No BT issues or lost connections so far.

It arrived today! Setting up from backup as I type on my phone. Super excited. M1 16GB/1TB

How did you keep the ssd from falling asleep ?

Sold my 2011 server mini last year and used a Windows laptop since then. But I am one of those who actually like to use the stock apps (iMovie, Pages); and esp. for iMovie there isn't really an alternative. Tried the free Resolve, but that doesn't run well on Windows because only the paid version uses gpu acceleration (on Mac, also the free version uses acceleration).
The M1 was an obvious choice, the 16gb flavour would set me back 1000 EUR which is too much for me. Tempted to buy the 8GB model for around 780 EUR, but then I got the opportunity to buy a near-mint i3 2018 with 16GB and 256 SSD for 500 EUR. That price fitted my bill better, and it gives me the opportunity to see how the apple silicon game plays out in the coming two years. Until then, the performance of the i3 plus the 16GB ram will be sufficient.

Am actually happier with the i3 than I expected. Big Sur looks very nice on my Iiyama 4K screen, and the machine is faster than anything I have or had before.

The only issue I encountered so far, is that the monitor stays black after a reboot - I have to unplug the hdmi cable from the mini and plug it back in to get it working again.

Wow, what a nice machine! I got the 2.6 i7 and 256GB SSD. I have 16 GB of RAM coming from NewEgg, but even with the stock 4 GB it's nice and fast. I love that it boots up in a few seconds and that launching an application takes almost no time.

I think my plan of replacing my aging laptop with the mini and an iPad is going to work out just fine.
Fast, but it has some issues. No Windows emulation yet, and sometimes when I wake my new M1 Mac Mini, Firefox will have problems. YouTube will play audio but not show video, and the tabs are not separated. Also, some applications like Garage band will not let you exit them without right-clicking the desktop icon.

I ordered my MM M1. Estimated delivery is Feb 5-12. Hope it arrives early.
Specs are 16GB, 1TB.
Where do they ship from to the US?

can you share how you setup from backup? Was it Time Machine or CCC.
Or did you use Migration Assistant.
I have the same model arriving soon and not sure which setup strategy to use.
I have an iMac running Mojave and use CCC.
Not sure if I should do a clean install or use MA.
Thanks for your input!

Ordered M1 Mini, 16GB/256 on 1/25. Current ETA 2/11-2/15. Upgrading from a 2012 mini (16/SSD+Regular). Excited to be able to actually do the things in the videos of the M1!

Realistically, it'll be a ridiculously overpowered Plex server, but let's not talk about that. :p My math was $800, and I think I'll get $250 for the old one, so I'm very OK with that upgrade.

I'd have done the 10G ethernet upgrade in a heartbeat. Frustrated with that, but they sell external adapters.

I turned 45 yesterday 29th. So I ordered the base M1 8gb ram 256 ssd. I am picking it up tomorrow 31st. It was 650 at a local place called ABT. My local apple store matched that. Plus 150 trade in for my 2014 mini. It has to be mailed to them because of covid. Damn you covid. But still not bad. So 644 and some change with 3 years apple care including tax. Normally 699. So even less and 3 years apple care. Except I have an old 2013 iPad Air 1 they won't take because they only do 1 trade in at a time so not bad. But I can ebay that for 100 easily. Or is 100 too much? iPad Air 1 is stuck on 12.3.1 and only iPad Air 2 get new updates. 1 does not. So its useless now probably.

Buy a stand/one of those IKEA picture frames that fits perfectly, and you've got a digital photo frame that doesn't have the worlds ********* software on it (like most other "appliance" type things do).
Just for that not worth it. Rather sell it.

going to attempt running a base 8gb ram 246gb storage m1 mac mini, along with a 1tb external SSd for larger files. Should arrive sunday!

Hoping 8gb ram is good for my casual usage, occasional Lightroom and movie editing

Did you receive your unit? How's everything working out for you?

This Mini will replace the behemoth which is a 2010 Mac Pro. Drives from the Mac Pro will be repurposed. I traded in my 2016 MacBook Pro. I never experienced keyboard issues, but I've been using a 15 inch MacBook Pro provided by work anyway. Better just to be rid of it at this point.

Ordered a mm m1 256ssd 16gb ram. I’ve been using a MacBook Pro mid 2018 unit for the past 14 months and it just doesn’t feel fast enough for all the editing I do in logic, iMovie, reaper etc etc not to mention teams meetings. I’m told these units are very snappy so I’m hoping to see a noticeable improvement

Nice! Here's hoping you receive it soon...

Just got this for 390 EUR today I am happy. The seller had added the new ssd last December so almost two year warranty on it sorted!

I managed to order one today from UK refurbished store :)

Screenshot_2021-03-01_at_14_12_04.png

And now the question is will I keep it and sell my Mini i7 and Vega 64 or return it and wait for higher end model 🤔 Anyone who moved to M1 from similar setup? I mainly do FCPX video editing (GH5 H264 400 MBit and BMPCC4K BRAW after conversion to ProRes 422) and some photo editing in Lightroom CC (Fuji X100V and GH5).

Ordered my M1 16Gb/512SSD on the 26th of Feb and its due to be delivered tomorrow.

Going to replace my 2012 mini as a server for the house, hope this one lasts as long and does as well, time will tell.

I would return it for some in newer the late 2014 Mac mini is getting to the end of the road for software updates and for about $150 more you could get the new Mac mini M1

Well scratch my update.

Shipped from China - arrived in the UK yesterday which was the original revised delivery date, then moved to today. However UPS say that its delayed due to Brexit related disruption with no ETA now.

I think many of the delivery companies are hiding behind Brexit to delay things personally when the issues are unlikely to be anything to do with it at all. If this happened during a major release of new Phone / Watch I bet Apple would go spare.

I was just coming to post the same!

Ordered exactly same as you, though the day before. Arrived at Stanford Le Hope on Tuesday, then later that day said delivery by end of day Wednesday. Woke up yesterday morning to the 'The package is delayed due to a Brexit disruption blah, blah blah'. Then at 17:20 yesterday stated released by customs & still said end of day Wednesday (obviously wasn't going to happen).

Today it just says 'Scheduled Delivery - Check Back tomorrow for an updated delivery date'.

If it's cleared customs, why is it not moving anywhere at all today?!? So frustrating. IF they said it's gonna arrive Friday or Monday, I'd be ok with it not being here now. It's the fact there's no date given and no indication of moving to a local depot, or owt.
