Ah. I've ordered everything from B&H for nearly 15+ years now - probably 15-20 Apple products. They're one of Apple's largest authorized resellers. Faster if it's in stock, and cheaper. The instant sales tax deduction they give using their credit card seals the deal since Apple charges sales tax if I order from them. Saved me 9.25% on the $1299 Mini.
(I'm not affiliated with B&H - just a happy customer.)

B&H are not showing any 10GB Ethernet Minis in stock yet, but at $1799 for a 16GB/2TB/10GB Ether Mini, the sales tax savings in TN at B&H would be $166 versus ordering directly from Apple. Not sure how much that savings means to you, but if I could wait, I'd cancel my Apple order, do an online application for B&H's credit card, and order one when they get them in stock. Their Apple specialists could probably tell you how long until they're stocked.

With my government employee discount (I'm a medical director for a large fire department), it was $1691 plus $101.46 sales tax. I order a ton of stuff from B&H (actually my wife orders more, she's a photographer). I'm also a very happy customer. I'll just leave the order in place because it's doubtful B&H will get them any sooner.

Now you have me tempted to cancel and order from B&H. Although I would like 10G ethernet, I do have a USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 SFP+ adapter for the fiber optic run to my office. I was planning to use the fiber optic for a new switch... hmm.

10G Ethernet was not a big deal to me, but 5+ years from now, who knows? And I tend to keep things like computers a long time. But if you're downloading things like huge medical image files, could come in handy I guess.
Not sure how they justify it, but giving an instant credit for the sales tax amount at check-out if you use their credit card is a game changer for me.
But if you got a $1799 Mini for $1691+tax on gov discount, you got a better deal than B&H can do.

Just got my M1 Mini in recently. Definitely liking it better than the i7 2018 mini I had before, which I ended up selling in 2019 because of the weak GPU performance and getting incredibly hot. (Have been using my 2017 15” MBP in the meantime docked.)

The Mini handles scaled resolutions on my 4k monitor very well. The M1 mini also runs very cool and quiet. Now the small fan in my OWC Thunderbolt 3 Pro Dock is louder than the mini.

I picked up the 16GB/512GB version. While it might‘ve been nice to have the option of 10GbE built in, my dock already has 10GbE.

I’ve ordered my base spec Mini from Apple refurbished today, only £589 and I’m sure it’s capable of running Lightroom and Photoshop happily enough. My first Mac purchase in 12 years, last was a 2009 13” MacBook Pro. Had enough of W10 and my Surface Pro.

Edit: Returned the 8/256gb base spec and swapped it for a 16/256gb instead. It's a excellent computer.

Apple Store: just ordered Mac mini M1, 16gig ram, 1 tera ssd, 10 gigabit ethernet. Waiting for it to get delivered. Will post setup and pictures once we install it. Did not like the small iMac.

Thinking of ordering the Mac mini (16gb). Not sure about Storage. Debating between 512 and 1TB. The markups are quite high. Btw, do you guys order Apple Care on your Mac mini's?

My 2011 Mac mini suddenly refused to boot ("No Operating System Found") after an unscheduled power down. It had been running Catalina. Took me a couple of days to get it running again but is now struggling to reload the Music library.

Decided enough is enough and a new M1 Mac mini should arrive tomorrow from Amazon UK (£50 less than the Apple RRP). Sticking with the base 8GB memory and 256 GB storage. Will remove the 2TB HDD from the old machine and put it in a decent external enclosure.

Congratulations, hopefully a good improvement over your 2011 model. Apple refurb have it available for £589.

Just out of interest, why did you return the 8gb model?

I’m seriously considering a Mini as my next desktop. Tempted by the cheap base model from Amazon as a short term option, but a longer term fix would be a more expensive 16/512 via Apple. Also keeping an eye out for any announcements next month.

I got my Mac mini 16/2TB about 2 weeks ago from the Apple refurbished store for about $400 less than ordering new. It replaces my 2009 Mac Pro Octa-core. Totally happy with it and it looks to me like it’s brand new. I’ve ordered a 43 inch Dell Ultrasharp monitor for it which I should have next week.
