Planning to go for a M2 Pro, 19c, 32G and 2T. Unfortunately I need to wait until Feb 13th to get a 13% educational discount (Switzerland). I want to pair it with an LG UltraGear 40WP95X (5120*2160), any advice?

M2 Mini coming early! I ordered an M2 Mini 16/512 on December 22 with a pick up date of February 14. Just checked the status and it's supposed to be available for pickup this Friday the 3rd.... 11 days early. Yay!

I'm getting my ASD from Costco delivered today. Going to be a busy weekend. Here's hoping my Time Machine backup will work really well on setup.

If it were me I would setup as new and then add files and apps for a clean install....but that's me. Enjoy your new toys, you are going to be quite busy.

Yes I hear you, but I do not have the original DMG file for my Quickbooks Desktop 2020 Mac and I am hoping that it will move over to the Mini and still work. All my other apps I use can be gotten from the developers. Quickbooks wants everyone to go to their QB Online platform and it's WAY too expensive for an old retired guy.

Sorry, slightly off-topic......when was the M2 Mini first announced or added to the Apple website?
I didn't know about it until about Jan 20......then jumped on ordering my Mini M2 Pro immediately.

My M2 Pro is now sitting in Taoyuan Taiwan......

I ordered my M2 Pro yesterday afternoon. Apple's website said it would be delivered today. This morning the online tracking said it would be here by 7:00 p.m. A few minutes ago I got an email that it was delayed until tomorrow, with no further explanation. I'm seriously bummed about it. If I could have your collective sympathy while I work through this difficulty time I would appreciate it.

Bless you... I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

My Mini M2 Pro has shipped and is planned for delivery next week 08. Feb.

This Mini ships directly from China which is new to me. I am located in Germany and normally get my Apple stuff from Czechia. I think I once recieved something from Ireland. But directly from China? Never.

It now waits in Hong Kong for the plane (I think). Will be deliverd via DHL Express. Not glad about it. While DHL is quite well in Germany, DHL Express is terrible.

Hi magphotos, thanks for sharing your experience! I am contemplating between 512gb and 1tb on the M2 Pro. Being a professional photographer, I'm curious whether having the 1tb (with double the speed compared to the 512gb) will make a significant difference on time savings when processing photos, importing, exporting, creating previews?

I'm guessing probably I won't notice the difference, but curious to hear your views. I plan to have an external 1TB SSD so a lack of space shouldn't be an issue. Thanks! 😄
Me too was curious of getting the 1tb version, but I believe I wouldn't have noticed the difference in everyday pro use as the 512gb version is already extremely fast. Because of this and also because my workflow relies entirely on external drives I decided that I would simply save the extra money for purchasing future SSDs, since for the same 200$ you can buy some pretty fast 2tb drives.

Also, if you are working with video you could potentially note the dirrence in speed, especially when performing scrubbing actions, but with photo work, not that much.

In the past days I worked with Lightroom Classic and the experience with my M2 Pro 512gb was absolutely positive, importing, generating previews, developing and exporting, everything was super fast (thanks to the processor, too).

I would suggest you to take a look at ArtIsRight channel on YT. He does some very comprehensive videos about Pro Photo Work comparing processors, ram and ssd speed.

Bought the base 8/256 on a bit of an impulse from Amazon as they offered it on the 5 monthly payments

Set it up this evening and fantastic bit of kit so far, I'm not a power user by any means at the moment so it suits me just fine, I thought I had forgotten to switch it on at the wall socket at first because it is about as silent as my iPad!

Bought the base M2 8/256 today from my local Apple Store with Edu discount for $499. It will be used by my daughter for photo/video editing for her Photography and New Media classes in high school. It should be good enough to get her by for the next 1.5 years and then she's off to college and we'll get her a Macbook Pro for that. She wants to be a video editor.
