24GB/512GB M2 is finally in "preparing to ship" date still hasn't changed from Feb 8 - 15 (originally was supposed to come today, Jan 26)

- I am using a Dell S2722QC monitor.

- I mainly use it for work and some photo editing with Pixelmator Pro.
- So far it has been silent the entire time I've used it. I use TG Pro to monitor temperatures and it stays around 31c, fan rpm around 1700.
What resolution are you using with the Dell S2722QC? Are icons and text well defined or blurry? I would like to understand if this model offers retina-like quality, without spending more money.

Interesting that the fans turn at 1700RPM and are silent, my iMac 27" Late 2012 is silent only when idle at 1200RPM, at 1700RPM I hear them instead.

  • Apple M2 Pro with 10‑core CPU, 16-core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine
  • 16GB unified memory
  • 1TB SSD storage
  • Studio display with standard glass
Ordered on Jan 22 and they just charged my card, so I hope it will be preparing to ship soon.
Already received studio display, KB, mouse.

Apple charged my card a few days ago. However, they can't give me a shipping date, only the notice "delayed" :-(

Resolution in Settings/General/About shows 3840x2160.

This is how it is configured in Display Settings:

I went up a setting from default to get more space and closely match the 2017 iMac display. The icons and text are sharp and clear in this setting and in the default setting. I can't tell any difference between this display and the 2017 iMac.

I noticed the fan runs faster in the M2 Mini but it is silent, the 2017 iMac fan ran idle around 1200RPM.

M2 Mac mini 8/512 (I cancelled my 8/256 preorder Monday and ordered 8/512)

My card was charged today, I was given a “drop ship” email…
”Dropshipping Notification
We sent your order # ____ for fulfillment directly by the manufacturer/distributor. We’ll be updating you with tracking information as soon as it becomes available.”

I have to stop myself from checking over and over, so, waiting for the next email…. (I saved $100 by purchasing with Adorama and AI deal).

Graet! Can you confirm that the silence of your Mac mini M2 Pro with the fan running at 1700RPM is the same as your iMac with the fans running at 1200RPM? Did I get it right?

I do not have the M2 Pro, just the M2, it is silent at 1700RPM just like the 2017 iMac running at 1200RPM.

Sorry, I had read wrong. I'm curious about the speed of the SSD, if you put 1TB you have 4 slots occupied by 256GB, shouldn't it have reached 6000MB/s? Bearing in mind that 3000MB/s is a lot of stuff!

I got a tracking number, states this early AM label was created, “United states” not sure if that’s just where the label was created or if it’s coming from stock already in the US.

Question: for those who have already received theirs via UPS, was a signature required? Or did they leave it without signature? If it’s required I won’t be home, I’ll have to pick it up at UPS.

The M2 Mac mini has places for two SSDs on the logic board, so it would be two 512….this is why the max is 2TB… The M2 Mac mini pro has 8 places for SSDs, 4 on each side of the logic board, soldered on in pairs, one on each side, so base pro model has two 256 one on each side for 512.

Got my M2 Pro 16Gb/512Gb today. Yesterday it was delivered and signed for across town so i thought it’d had gone forever. Thankfully I know my postman and he tracked it down and brought it round this morning.

Just been reading a thread about noise but I can’t hear mine at all. It does share the office with a Dell laptop but noise from eith is negligible

@benji888 Thank you for sharing this info. I was curious about the disk speeds but haven't had a chance to look at the reviews and teardown yet. I am pleased with the M2 Mini, it is a big upgrade from a 2017 iMac.

My M2 was delivered by UPS at my workplace, the driver did not ask for a signature.

No. But then, I have had packages delivered marked "Signature Required" and they were left at the door too.

picked up my 1st Mac desktop this week right before a snow storm, M2 Pro 16/512 Mac mini, so far so good.
Nice setup! Love the vintage looking microphone. 👌

Got my M2 Pro base spec (16gb RAM / 512gb SSD) yesterday, at my local Apple Store, very happy with it! I was hoping that it had a better speaker, at least the Pro version, but it's just the same found in the M1 model. Also, I was hoping it came with the fabric power cable being it a Pro, but no luck!

Dreaming of a Studio Display setup. Before going with the Mini I gave a try to the iMac 24, fell in love with the screen quality and the glossy finish. But as a professional photographer it just wasn't enough power and enough screen space. Glad I returned it and went with the mini M2 Pro! Maybe in the refurb store someday will come a good deal for Studio Display.

For those of you interested:
• my unit is deadly silent, stable at 1700rpm/27°C, even under heavy workloads (Lightroom, DaVinci, AfterEffects)
• disk speed is luckily better than expected (see image attached. Did the test with a 5GB stress) and it is about the same I had on a 16gb/1tb M1 8core iMac.

My M2 Pro Mac mini delivery date went from 6. Feb to "delayed", now showing 1. Feb (after I called Apple support to update the shipping reference number, which was no longer recognised by TNT). Replacement Apple Studio Display also arriving next week.

Maybe the orders are finally coming back on tracks. What happened to your ASD?

I bought a refurbished ASD, but had instances of screen flickering and glitches, about once per day. Returning it, bought a new one instead. (I posted a video of the defect on the Apple Studio thread.)
Thanks for sharing. Will go watch it as I am considering a refurb ASD for future purchase.
