I've ordered from B&H before but have no recollection of their Passover Holiday logistics.

B&H has maintained essentially the same schedule with regards to Passover throughout our 40 years in business. The only difference is we used to close for half a day the day of the Seder and now close the full day. This year we're closed from Monday, April 14th through Tuesday, April 22. We regret any inconvenience this may cause.

Someone was kind enough to post, "Yeah, they're clearly a devoutly Jewish store in NY and I actually respect the heck out of 'em for honoring that. Seems there should be someway to do both that and honor their client's needs in this case." We're pretty diverse overall these days but our owner is a devoutly observant Jewish gentleman which is the reason we're closed Saturdays, Passover, and other holidays requiring Sabbath-like observance.

BTW, the Wikipedia page "Passover (Christian holiday)" is about how a Jewish holiday is celebrated by Christians. The main Passover page there is this.

I ordered my new Mac Pro late Saturday night. I knew nothing would happen until at least Monday. MacMall called me Monday and told me there was a problem with my PayPal transaction and that it wasn't going through. I called them back and gave them my debit card. They then called me a back right before closing and told me that they missed the cut off and they'll try it again today.

They called me again this morning to tell me that they tried to process my order again and that it still wasn't going through. At that point I called PayPal and found out that I have a $3000 daily spending limit. That was the problem all along. So I had them remove that limitation for the day. I called MacMall back up and asked them to try again. Success! My order went through.

As luck would have it, they also have the machine in stock. It just shipped! The guy even upgraded me to overnight shipping. So I should have it tomorrow!!!

Amazing! I'll have my new Mac Pro in under 24 hours from ordering it. I feel bad for all the people that had to wait 2 months for a machine. I guess my timing was good and I got lucky.

It may have something to do with choosing a lower end or stock config? Seems no third party has any high end nmp machines in stock.

"Low end", relatively speaking.

"Low end". That is funny. There's nothing "low end" about any of them. I ordered the base 4-core unit with 12GB of RAM and the D300s. The only thing I upgraded was the SSD to 512GB. That's more than enough Mac Pro for me! I thought paying another $100 bucks for 4GB of RAM was insane. There's original 4GB Mac Pro modules going on eBay for $30 bucks. If I need more RAM than 12GB, I'll go 3rd party later on.

In any case, I ordered yesterday with overnight shipping and it's already out for delivery today! I can't wait. I should have called out "sick"! *cough, cough*

The "I just ordered/bought/got my new/refurb Mac Pro" thread [merged]

Couldn't wait.

Cancelled my Mac Pro order when I found a couple on craigslist who was selling their still sealed CTO model because they went with an iMac.

6C/16GB/1TB/D700

Seriously a dream machine. Just bought my TBD and will test it out tonight.

8C/512GB/D700/12GB -- Ordered 2/25, shipped 04/08. They sent it UPS ground so looks like I'll have to wait until next Monday to get it. Should have called and complained a bit :)

No doubt! Enjoy.

Just got mine all set up last night. I still have a bunch of tweaking to do, as well as app installs, etc. I was going to just migrate all my data from the old Mac Pro, but I figured after 6 years worth of OS X upgrades, it was time for a clean install. I also have to move the Drobo from my old machine to the new. So exciting. I can't believe how fast it is. It boots to a desktop in like 12 seconds. My old 2008 Mac Pro took like a minute, maybe longer.

Nice setup!

Yeah the migrating over is not my favorite part. All the years of tweaking to get everything where I want it meaning it'll be a while till I'm settled in.

You should not buy a new thunderbolt display at this time. I believe Apple will update it pretty soon. Especially, logic of having usb 2 hub on thunderbolt display is not worth to spend 1k.

Thanks for the suggestion. I really don't have a need for USB 3.0 and I won't be using the monitor as a hub. Plus, if the TBD's go 4K, I will be passing because I've seen the reviews on the Dell 24" 4K and the font is absurdly small.

If I do get tempted I'm sure I will not have a problem selling this, plus I still have $1000 left on the gift card :)

Yeah, but ....

To be honest with you? If I bought that 12GB RAM config. of the Mac Pro, I'd happily spend the extra $30 for that extra 4GB stick of RAM. Why? Because the new Mac Pro will see a small speed boost in memory access speeds when all 4 slots are filled. It's very little to pay to get your new machine running at peak performance, IMO.

I just received an email from B&H that my order has shipped UPS ground. That's certainly an improvement over their earlier estimate that it would be 4/30 for shipment.

No other info available yet, such as a tracking number. I ordered a 6core/16GB/512/D500, on 2/20.
