Received my nmp 12C/D700/64GB/1TB on April 10th and was extremely excited.

Spent a couple of hours installing all my software and go to start working and hear an extremely annoying high pitched noise coming from the computer. Call apple and go through some trouble shooting and they send me to my local apple store and setup an appointment for that day. Apple technician says it's the fan. I didn't think it was the fan but give him the benefit and he checks it in and I wait 4 days for a new fan part only to get it home after being "repaired" to hear the same annoying noise. Call apple and they're sending me a replacement but now have to wait 3-5 Weeks. Not happy at all about that. I pray that they're aware of this issue and have a fix already in place on the assembly line.

Anyone else have this problem with same build?

Look here and also search for the "coil whine" thread.

As long as Apple is letting you keep your current nMP until you receive your new one I think you couldn't ask for better support.

Aside from failing to meet the expectation that a computer that costs many thousands of dollars doesn't generate undesirable noise, yes it is quite good customer service. Although having to wait 3-5 weeks for a replacement sucks! But at least (s)he gets to use an annoying computer until then.

I ordered a 6c/16GB/1TB/D500 from B&H on February 4. Today I got an email that it has shipped. That took about 11 1/2 weeks. By the time I get it the delay will have been about 12 weeks. About time.

My 6c/256/16G/D500 machine is out for delivery today. Amazon and B&H both have them in stock.

I'm excited and looking forward to the Big Brown Truck getting here.

Any tips, tricks or recommendations?

My BTO nMP (6c/32GB/1TB/D500) is on its way. Got the shipping notice this morning, they charged my card yesterday. Ordered mine April 7th, so less than a month, looks like Apple is finally catching up.

Ordered my nMP (high-end stock config) on Tuesday and got it Wednesday. :D

Swapped out the paltry 16GB RAM for 64GB. Just wish I could find a 512GB or 1TB SSD to swap in other than one of the sketchy, possibly stolen parts on eBay.

For anyone else who wants one of the stock configs, Amazon has them in stock and eligible for Prime shipping.

Just got my 6c stock today. Really wish I got the 512GB

I ended up with a 6c stock as well, after going through a 2 month waiting game for a 512GB model that was still too far out. Was bummed about the storage limitation at first, but in the month I've been using the Mac it hasn't been a problem.

Right now, I have just the basics on the internal drive. The OS, applications, and the core of my Home directory (Library folder, but any subdirectories of substance are linked to external Thunderbolt storage). After migrating everything I currently see 120GB available, so I still have quite a bit of room to grow.

Eventually I'll probably swap out the internal SSD (OWC is working on them from what I hear), but for now I'm pleasantly surprised how comfortable a "small" internal SSD can be.

I've just pulled the trigger on a base spec nMP - hopefully it will turn into a little project over the next few years. Now to see how long it will take with the 3-4 week waiting list to get here in the UK. The excitement is building already!

The German Apple Store now shows 2-3 weeks... No change at the US Store so far...
I ordered mine exactly 3 weeks ago, no sign of delivery :( Still shows 4 - 5 weeks: 22 May, 2014 - 28 May, 2014 :(

Don't worry, mine showed 5-6 weeks the entire time on the order details even though the store time frame changed twice. It shipped after 25 days.

6c/1TB/12gb ordered May 2 when it was showing 3-4 weeks, credit card got charged early this morning (7 days later) just when Apple reduced the shipping estimate for new orders to 2-3 weeks.

However order status still "Processing Items".
