Just bought a 15" i7 standard build, unfortunately PC World Nottingham didn't have them in stock so on the bus to Derby to go pick one up from there. Got my 10% staff discount :D

Cant wait to get it home and see how it runs.

Finally! Just placed an order for the new 15" MBP base model with the hi-res matte screen. Estimated shipping is 1-3 bus. days. I was at the local store in scottsdale today hoping to pick it up retail. Unfortunately, they were only carrying the high-end 15" MBP with hi-res matte.

Well worth the wait!

I'm not crazy about the 320 GB 5400 RPM hard drive but just couldn't justify the apple hd upgrade tax. It's just too much. If anyone has any suggestions for 3rd party hd upgrades, suggestions welcome.

Had the Western Digital Scorpio blue 500GB in my old MBP, as quiet as the stock drive and a nice performer.

I just ordered the low-end 15" i5 with the antiglare screen in the dutch apple store.
I am surprised with the estimated time:
Expected ship date: 4 workdays
Expected delivery date: 04 May, 2010 - 05 May, 2010

Hopefully it will be faster :/

Hi, i'm thinking of either getting an iMac quad core i7 or a 15 inch macbook pro i7 . Can one of you do some tests for me (yes - i have searched YouTube)

1) boot up /down times
2) Launch safari (cold)
3) Open MS word (cold)
4) Open Photoshop (cold)

Weird shipping behavior

I've been - of course - refreshing my shipment tracking screen like crazy.
Then this morning I noticed some odd stuff on it. Does this look normal to you guys? Anybody else have anything like this?

Irrelevant. You only need to boot it once when you get it, and reboot for some updates :D:cool:

funny it shows there is a page 119 but you cant get to it in any browser, i hope adding this post will change that.

That there is funny stuff! haha

Sorry if this is asked before but I couldnt find the answer for it.
A BTO 15inch i7 MBP has a shipping time from 5 to 7 days, will it arrive within this timeframe? or is it a big chance it comes after that period because its new?

Well after getting over my disappointment with the graphics chip, and reviewing some benchmarks, I've ordered:

17-inch, glossy, 2.66 i7, 256GB SSD, 4GB RAM.

Looking forward to it!

Cancelled my 15" glossy after seeing the beautiful Hi Res matte pics

2.66GHz Intel Core i7
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRM - 2x2GB
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200
SuperDrive 8X DL
MBP 15"HR Antiglare WS Display

Ships: 5 - 7 business days
grrrrr

just picked up my new i7 anti-glare MBP

2.66GHz Intel Core i7
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRM - 2x2GB
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400
MBP 15"HR Antiglare WS Display

the screen is quite good for a notebook screen. no dead/stuck pixels that I could find.

i watched 1hr a Hulu 480p TV show while plugged in. Hulu is flash based so it should have used the processor quite a bit. the MBP got only slightly warm but it felt less than body temp, not hot at all. Seems the heat problems are exaggerated or don't affect all notebooks.

Left my house, Toronto-bound, at 8am this morning with my last-gen MBP (just over a week in my possession). Two bus rides and two subway rides later, I arrived at the Apple store in Fairview Mall.

They happily and without question exchanged my purchase for the i7 15" high-res anti-glare model.

At 3pm I was back home. At 4:30pm it finished copying my stuff from the Time Machine backup, and I'm good to go!

Those extra few pixels were definitely worth the trouble!

Oh, some other observations:

1) The keyboard feels a little different. Slightly weaker springs, perhaps? Or am I imagining things?
2) The cables of the adapter have a rough feel to them now. Not sure if I like this, but don't have a choice.
3) The wall plug of the extension cable has been redesigned. It looks very smooth and nice now.
4) I'll probably disable the new two-finger flicking thing soon.

Well, the fella moving it through the first leg should be well hydrated, well rested and looking mighty fine in that new suit. You can only hope he took your MBP out and photoboothed a pic of himself.

Had to return my great refurb 24" iMac because of severe eye strain (and there was no restocking fee) : so take 3 in 4 weeks:

15" Hi Res/Anti-glare/i7/8GB/500 HD at 7200...

Third time will be the charm... :apple::apple::apple:

Order Date: Apr 13, 2010 at 08:37 PM PDT

15" MBP Matte Hi-Res i7

Ordered Apr 13 at 8:37PM PDT

Hit the "Prepared for Shipment" about 10PM PDT last night 4-16.

Estimated delivery Apr 21, 2010 by 12:00 PM (noon)

I think I'm getting it a day earlier than most that were shipped at this time due to me living in the Anchorage, AK area (first US stop for FedEx).

I do have a part time employee that also works full time for FedEx and she tells me I might be able to pick it up myself when it lands (which should be by early Monday morning the 19th).

Tough Decisions

I've been bouncing back and forth between a 15" and 13" (both with a 512G SSD). Today I pulled the trigger and got the 13" and the deciding factor was a sale at the local ski shop where I picked up a new pair of powder skis for about the difference in price between the 13 and 15.

My real need for the upgrade from my current macbook 13 (pre-pro model) is to get 8G of ram.

It's also supposed to snow next week so while I wait for the new macbook I'll have something to do :)

Just got my 1st Apple products on Friday :)
Low end 15" MBP

In order to take care of my MBP i have already ordered the Ion-factory carbon shell and I got myself a Crumpler shoulder beg ...

Went to the MagnumMac store in Newmarket, Auckland, NZ yesterday and bought my first mac!! 15" Macbook Pro, 2.66GHz i7 processor, 4GB ram, 500GB Hard drive, plus Apple Care and iWork, glossy display, but not high res unfortunately, they said if I wanted the high res they would have to order it and that could take 4-8 weeks!! I ain't waiting that long, I already waited for 6 months. Still happy as Larry! It is beauuuuuutifuuuull! Got an assignmnet due in so desperately trying to finish that off so I that I can start using my MBP! :)

picked up a base 15 from best buy today. Lady told me I only have 90 days to purchase applecare because I didnt buy it direct from the apple store. I thought I have one year to buy it, regardless of where I buy it from?!!?

Don't worry, she's talking out of her rear. You can buy it anytime in the first year regardless of where you bought it.
