Ordering my first mac tomorrow: 15" i7, 500gb @ 7200rpm, hi res anti glare.

Hopefully the ash with clear soon!

Picked up a base model 15" glossy at my local Apple Store yesterday. I made the switch from a 2006 15" MBP with 1GB of RAM. I'm loving the new processor and increased RAM. I'm so happy they kept this keyboard because back when I bought my MBP in mid 2007, I was so jealous that my friend who'd bought a black MB had such a great keyboard. I really wasn't a big fan of the silver keyboard.
I considered buying a 17" i5 but with Apple Care, it would have taken me months to come up with the money.

I'm going to be ordering my first mac tomorrow

Going to be ordering a...

Core i7
15 inch
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm (I'm going to try to use my *old* SSD and put it into the MBP)
MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Glossy display (i like black bezel)
Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter
AppleCare Protection Plan
Apple remote
Apple wireless Keyboard
Apple Magic mouse

I cannot wait to do this with the trackpad

Refund of Delivery Charge?

So i ordered the 2-3 day shipping on my 15 inch i7 anti-glare, and i received my shipping notice on friday, the estimated date of delivery is for Thursday. Do you guys think i should request a refund for the 2-3 day delivery if it comes in on Thursday? i mean even if i give them that Friday it was picked up and doesn't count as a shipping day that is still 4 days to Thursday. It's in Tennessee right now, with the delivery by date unchanged. :(

picked up a base 15 from best buy today. Lady told me I only have 90 days to purchase applecare because I didnt buy it direct from the apple store. I thought I have one year to buy it, regardless of where I buy it from?!!?
The 90 days applies to telephone support. But you can still buy Apple Care as long as it's within the first year after purchase.

MacBook Pro 13inch

Well my mom has final decided she wants a Macintosh. We both waited for the refresh, and its finally here. There isn't a big difference between the $1499 MBp and the $199 MBP. Slightly faster CPu and larger HD. The HD in the base MBp is large enough, and the CPu isn't really noctibaly faster. So we are getting it TODAY. I'm still stuck on weather i should get a powerful Dell, or a BEAUTIFUL MacBook Pro. the dell is more powerful hardware wise, and Windows 7 isn't really that bad either. The dell is also cheaper. But the MacBook pro runs OSX, it has a powerful enough Core 2 Duo. It has a small design (I like 13inch notebooks) its thin, light. It has nice things like MagSafe, and a 10 hours battery. So getting a MacBook pro for my self would mean sacrificing performance that i wouldn't need anyways. Just to be clear, my mom is getting a Macintosh today. I get to unbox it and hold it first though.:D I will be getting a new computer this year though (probably around december) In high school, they recommend us getting laptops (they recommend MacBooks BTW)

So I will post pictues and maybe a video so you guys can see the "excitement"

I'm really excited... more than my mom about this. She said i could even use it with her permission.
I'll be back

Same as me (cept for the 7200rpm HD). It's gonna be one sweet machine i cannot wait.

Got the MacBook Pro. My mom and I unboxed it at her dad's house (grandpa's house) She likes the cool iPhoto faces feature. She imported her pictures from her camera, and it did it super fast. The SD card doesn't stick out as far as I though. Almost done uploading photos of this sexy beast to photobucket.

UPDATE. I uploaded the photos. http://s483.photobucket.com/albums/rr192/ouimetnick/Apple MacBook Pro/ I did it in the afternoon, so the natural sun light makes it look al fancy and stuff.

Just picked up a 15.4'' i7 @ my local bestbuy with an Education discount!:D
I wanted to get the HiRes but they wasn't any available. I guess you'd have to order custom configs online for those?

Not necessarily. Some (not all) Apple Retail stores currently stock the 15.4" i7 with high-resolution, however, only in anti-glare version. If you are wanting 15.4" i7 with high-resolution glossy screen, you'd have to order that on Apple Store Online.

Just did it

15" i5 base model
3.99 overnight shipping with amazon prime:D
cannot wait, especially since my wife is monopolizing the iMac since she is addicted to iMovie.

Picked up an i7 MBP with high-res antiglare from Store tonight, after waiting since January and then taking the whole week to decide whether to go matte or glossy. Glad I got the matte.

After much deliberation of which config, ordered mine yesterday:

Thanks so much for the unboxing pictures. This is the exact way that I have been doing for any new tech gadgets!

ok here is mine:

15" 2.66 core i7
4 GB RAM
500 GB HDD @5400
High-Res Glossy

still not sure what is worse: the waiting on the update or the waiting to hold the actual product in my hands :)

OK that's it. Have fun with your new machines and see you in 4 to 5 years in the "waiting for the 8 core macbook pro"

What's this supposed to mean? I've ordered tons of stuff before but never saw this message. Look how long it's been in Shanghai -- this is expedited shipping, too.

So I ordered a 15" 2.4GHz, 2x2GB, 500GB-7200RPM, HR Glossy.

Fed Ex delivered today. The address label was addressed to me... but the packing list was for someone else. According to the packing list, the computer in the box was a 2.66GHz, 2x2GB, 512 SDD, HR Glossy. Imagine the thoughts that started running through my mind...

Anyway, I opened the packing box and according to the label on the side of the MBP box, I received the model that I ordered, not what Robert in New Jersey ordered (even though his was a lot better than mine lol).

I feel a sore throat coming on so I think I'm going to have to leave work in a little while... wish me well! Oh, and if the label on the side of the box is wrong and I really did get the 2.6GHz w/ 512 SDD... I probably won't be posting it anywhere lol :p

Ordered a the new 15" base model, but with high-res antiglare screen by phone this afternoon, together with a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter and a STM Sonic bag... and then received a confirmation which reads Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter. I tried calling Apple again to find out that they were closed already, so I will need to wait till tomorrow to correct the order. Estimated delivery time to The Netherlands of around two weeks I was told.
