I don't get why mine says that it'll be delivered btw. 12th and 18th of may, while I ordered exactly the same, 15" 2.53 with high res glossy and 7200rpm drive, just yesterday (the 20th) :S Mine is also heading for Denmark.

Seems wierd, especially now that the airspace just opened up again :S Apple is probably just making sure that they don't promise anything that they can't keep...

I ordered mine on the 19th about 3 minutes before midnight Eastern Time.
Coming to Ohio, USA:
Ships: 5 - 7 business days
Delivers: Apr 27 - May 3

I got the Anti-Glare 15" Hi Res and the 7200RPM drive.

Still not shipped...
I hope they hurry, I'd hate to think of those little Chinese kids in that factory getting zapped with a cattle prod for being too slow. ( Do they really have kids working there? )
I'd pay an extra 100-200 if it were made over here. I dunno. I don't wanna think of it no more, I just want my macbook. :)

Core i7 15"
500 GB @ 7200RPM
Hi-Res Glossy
Ordered 4.20.10
Expected delivery April 28 - May 4.

Im in the same boat as you. Same config. And i need it for finals which begin about May 1st. I called apple and talked to one of their customer reps about what the shipping would be and she upgraded me to the fastest for free because I told her the story :)

Damn! I wish I had done that - I ordered a 2.4 15" with 500GB x 5400 with Hi-Res Glossy Display, and decided it was worth the extra $40 to get the 500 GB x 7200, so I called Apple today and had them change the order. Because it's a BTO, the shipping time is 5-7 days, and I'm moving on the 8th of May :(

Back to a Mac

After several years of PC development I've gone back to the Mac. Bought my new 13" Pro (base model) yesterday and used it last night. Awesome.

Screen felt surprisingly large for someone used to working with dual 24" screens at work lol.

Good size, nicely portable, and the Scrivener program for writing is truly amazing. Can't wait to do some writing on it.

I really hate that its made in china also, apple had a net profit of like $4 billion and they cant make one US plant? yet they can build 100 apple stores within 50 miles of each other. ANOTHER thing wtf is with this shipping taking too long....i paid HIGH dollar for this macbook and it delivers as fast as a love letter between a Chinese boy and pamella anderson...mine was also ordered on the 19th.. identical to yours and I live in seattle with a delivery date of 27th-may3

Apple really wants you to hit up one of those 100 Apple stores within 50 miles of each other rather then order online. :p

I'm typing this on my brand new 2.4 i5 with hi res antiglare. Its amazing. I've had it out of the box for about 5 mins. Now its time to swap the harddrive from the stock 320 5400rpm to a nice ol 500 gb 7200rpm. :)

The European DESTINATION for the Macbooks? No reports??

In the light of the now apparently less dramatic situation of the European air space (the ash problem and its impact), I wonder why there are not many more threads from those who may still have their Macbooks placed somewhere in Shanghai, or who may possibly by now have received the same...

Please come back with some short feedback which may be useful to all and everybody who are still without any new published tracking movements during the last 3 days...in particular from UPS...

Ordered 7:45am on the 13th, arrived today, 1 day early. No expedited shipping. FedEx called me early in the morning and asked if I'd take delivery today. (!)

This was a CTO from Apple, 17" Core i7, glossy screen, 500gb 7200rpm drive (Seagate, yuck... but there's no vibration or noise).

Happy to report that it works with my $19 OWC single-port eSATA expresscard.

No yellow screen, and as far as I can tell, no dead pixels (haven't run the tester yet).

It's been running for 30 minutes so far, about to finish Migration Assistant, and it's only barely warm on the bottom. This is MUCH cooler than my previous, 2.4GHz Core 2 MBP, which would get hot after transfering so much data. The screen is much brighter, too.

I received my Macbook Pro 17" today as well. :D (1 day early)

It weighs 2799.8 grams (or 6.1729 lbs). Which is .42 lbs lighter than the glossy version.

Now I get to go play with it. :) I will see how this 256 GB SSD performs and I'll test out the matte screen option outside.

For those of you who ordered the AppleCare with your MBP units, do they ship them separately? On my order status, it tells me my AppleCare is 'complete' but I still haven't received it yet...still waiting on my laptop though. Can't wait.

You will receive a large envelope in the mail, with your enrollment package and all the forms that you need. It usually takes a few weeks from the time it says completed under your order status.

Just got mine, I ordered

15" 2.4
500G HDD 7200 RPM
Anti-glare Display

Ordered last Wednesday, Took 7 days from Order to delivery. I paid the expedited fee for 2-3 days.

Restoring my time machine backup from the Macbook Pro I returned to Best Buy a month ago..

I ordered what my Wife would let me spend. While other versions might be a little less, we need to save all our pennies. I was also fortunate enough to have a brother-in-law who works for Apple so I got a nice discount.

I ordered a 15" 2.4Ghz Core i5 with the HiRes Anti-glare display. It just shipped from Shanghai today. Hopefully I'll get it by Friday. I can't wait to play with it.

I ordered yesterday the BTO MBP 15" i7 with HiRes glossy screen, everything else stock.

Expected delivery Apr 28 - May 4.

Paid for 2-3day shipping, hopefully it arrives next week :)

Well I did it...

Hey (first post btw)
I'm a pretty experienced long-time PC user who just bought my first macbook a couple days ago. All of the stuff on this site and forum have been incredibly helpful so I wanted to leave a general thank you at the end of a thread where no-one'll ever read it! whoo!
Ordered the i7 15" hi-res 8G RAM and 512 SSD... had some money saved and didn't feel like modding it (3 custom built PCs that I'm trying to move away from with the mac switch :) ) should get here april 27!!!!

cannot wait to start recording music!!
